  1. Best of all, it was pretty modern. Not old-timey at all.
  2. It's a fairly common last name, actually.
  3. This premise in itself is flawed and i don't have to explain why. Stop making s*** up please. Lol so a 95-win team is not close to a championship team? What an asinine statement. "Commiting to veteran players" is what got the Yankees in the shithole they were during most of this decade, investments need to be smart (or at least that's what i think) and for a team that has a strong rotation 1-4, investing in a project for the five spot that may pay huge dividends (Rich Harden comes to find) while maintaining payroll flexibility is key, because it allows for transactions like acquiring V-Mart next year. Please stop talking like this is a team that runs away from multi-year commitments, just because they try to be smart about who they award such contracts to. Pretty sure they're regretting the Lowell contract, how's that for "veteran players?" The answer is that this team spends a lot of money both on payroll and player development to field a competitive team year in, year out, so your original question is an exercise in futility. I apologize if the post rubs off as too strong or confrontational, but i didn't really find a more fluid way to convey my thoughts.
  4. Oh. My. God. In light of not wanting to be a "douche", i'll go ahead and inform that this is a $130 million dollar payroll we're talking about, so going by that figure and the fact that this team will probably be top 5 next year in payroll just like every other year this decade, care to explain to me how exactly the FO is "reluctant" to spend money?
  5. Exactly right.
  6. Dunno where anyone would get any other idea, really.
  7. How 'bout they both show some sack and we can get the best players available? (Holliday/Lackey)
  8. Andruw Jones cannot play defense anymore. Why get a fourth outfielder who's a clear defensive downgrade?
  9. Well, to finish the comparison, some may say defense in left field is "only a tiebreaker" but if the Sox are gonna go balls out on a player, it should be someone who can catch the ball, and will not be a DH by 2012, that player is Matt Holliday.
  10. What i love is how people keep using this "Unclean innings" stat. Papelbon got the job done even if he only threw fastballs and gave up a couple more walks. Trading him without an adequate replacement would be stupid.
  11. Thanks. This is exactly what i wanted to say.
  12. I got so drunk that night i didn't show up for work or school the other day. I called my boss and told her: "I'm calling in sick, but in reality, i'm hammered 'cause the Sox won" Why did i do this? She's a diehard Sox fan, and she was pretty hungover too.
  13. Of course you don't understand. Let's leave it at that.
  14. I firmly believe that to keep him healthy, it might be a better idea to just have him come on board in the 2nd half.
  15. Joining the team on the second-half seems ideal to me.
  16. Name 5 better. Hoffman is not better right now. He's head-and-shoulders better than Soria if he throws the f***ing split.
  17. You can run into an offensive drought at any moment, the fact that it happened in the postseason should not be magnified.
  18. My real concern with Papelbon is whether the FO can get him to start throwing the split again. He's simply not the same pitcher without it.
