  1. He wanted to play full time. Please read what actually happened with that situation. He gave up a lot of money to play full time in Japan. It wasn't lack of opportunity.
  2. They probably did. Stop saying the guy wouldn't have gotten a chance somewhere. That's asinine.
  3. He might not have gone to Japan if given the chance to play on a park where, you know, everything hit in the air doesn't go to die.
  4. It sounds easy. It's not.
  5. I think he stays a Twin though.
  6. In the Lowrie/Izturis as a platoon scenario, it makes much more sense. The question is whether Anaheim would be inclined to trade him, he does a fantastic job as a role player for them.
  7. Izturis would probably get exposed playing a full season at SS. There's a good reason he hasn't been given a shot at the position in Anaheim, and my guess is that's it.
  8. You have to take into consideration that V-Mart's CS% doesn't tell the whole story. He catches a lot of "Cheap" base-stealers, or guys who really don't run well but try to take bases off of him because they don't respect his arm. When teams run a lot on a catcher, you know it's because his arm is well below average. For comparison's sake, over his career, there have been 816 SB attempts against Jorge Posada, who's been in the league since 1995. Over V-Mart's career, which started in 2002, there have been 611 SB attempts with him behind the plate. He's simply awful at preventing the stolen base, and the fact that teams run a lot on him demonstrates it.
  9. The problem is his arm, which UZR doesn't account for. You and i could steal from V-Mart with ease, and not being able to control the running game hits a catcher's defensive value particularly hard.
  10. Actually, Einstein, i wasn't being sarcastic. I was literally asking you to read. Before you run your mouth and end up wasting my time making me read the obvious, please read what was said before coming up with your attempts at showing intellectual superiority. Which is the reason why everyone here thinks you're full of hot air and takes 99% of what you post as biased garbage. Keep that in mind.
  11. I don't know if you know this, but the C position is a defense-first position. Instead of stating the obvious, how about this: How much value do you think below-average defense substracts value from a catcher when compared to other positions?
  12. Both Carpenter and Wainwright were also deserving, but i think the voters got it right. Lincecum wins 2009 NL Cy Young award.
  13. Florida is Florida. They will trade anyone for the right price. Premise incorrect. San Diego is in rebuilding mode. Seattle isn't. Premise incorrect. Mauer is a dream. He will re-sign with Minnesota. But don't try to lump them together to justify the fact that you know that Felix is just a pipe dream.
  14. "You felt bad". Hilarious. You don't come into a new place and run your mouth like that. We've been having an interesting discussion about the economics of the game, i've always said was "bought" but legit, no one here was whining, it's won and it is what it is. You, like that douchebag, however, have insisted on calling people who discuss in this thread "whiners". Well newsflash: A) This is a Red Sox forum. B ) The only whiner is the one who can't defend his points with logic but by calling names like "whiner". C) You have, unlike Gom, Jacko and Y228, brought absolutely nothing to the discussion. So if there's someone who shouldn't be running his mouth, it's you.
  15. There's a difference between "crying" and "stating the facts". "Crying" is what i do every time i read one of your posts. "Stating the facts" is what i do when having exchanges with intelligent posters like Gom or Y228. If you want me to stop "Crying", for once in your life, make a post worth reading, Jesus Christ. Oh, and nice edit.
  16. Of course it's insightful and well thought to you. You're the captain of the "we can spend all the money we want brigade". And seeing as you're the resident Yankee troll, i'm surprised you're even talking about images. I suggest you begin reading Y228's posts. See if you can learn something.
  17. It's an interesting thought that makes no sense. Would you trade a certainty (Hernandez) for a man who, even though he's thrived lately, suffers from an anxiety disorder (Greinke) because of one year of control?, not only that, but Felix is 3 years younger meaning signing him to a long term contract makes much more sense. Also, you talk like Seattle is Kansas City, they have the available resources to keep Felix, specially since the Beltre contract expired. Stop dreaming.
  18. It should be your last post. Even Yankee fans admit they're taking advantage of a broken system buying superstars like it's running out of style. So how about you shut your mouth, know your role, and think thoroughly before you post a steaming pile of s*** disguised as a post.
  19. Seattle gains nothing from that trade scenario.
  20. V-Mart has two things against him in the catcher debate for getting more than 4 years. 1) He is not a very good defensive catcher, and he's destined to man 1B/DH for most of the time sometime during the next 4 years. 2) This not the same market that saw all those money/years heavy contracts handed out, Mauer will get a s*** ton of money and years, but he's in a league of his own and only 26. @BSN07: Why would the Mets give a 31-year old V-Mart a 5-year contract to end up playing 1B when they don't have the DH available?
  21. Not for elite catcher money, he won't, which is my point.
