  1. I don't know about you man, but last time i checked the key to winning a ballgame was scoring more runs than the other team. That means that run prevention is just as important as the ability to score runs, therefore, the better you are at both scoring and preventing runs, the better your chances of winning ballgames. Also, iirc, only 81 games are played at Fenway Park AND there was an upgrade at CF were the Sox ranked dead last year in UZR and UZR/150. Whine all you want. Engage in strawman all you want. Make up all the s*** you want. It's.A. Better. Ballclub. Also, i thought you were working? If you have enough time for a post as long as that one you have enough time to prove me wrong about Vasquez.
  2. That was the main intent, for one. And for two, i don't know where bsox finds these left-field bound ideas.
  3. Because not only is he 26 years old, but his "decent" sample size consists of 61 games.
  4. Not from the others either.
  5. Yeah he won't learn discipline from Posada.
  6. Cervelli is a back-up. He was the main topic of conversations.
  7. No one sees this offense getting better. Run-differential. Stop whining. But the loss in runs scored is less than the gain in runs prevented.
  8. George Brett. His problem was OBP, he slugged over .400 with consistency in the Minors. Not only that, he was up in the Majors at age 21, so he finished his development in the Major Leagues, but this is not a guy who was ever projected to be a backup in the Majors.
  9. What's the player, and i bet i can find you a reason.
  10. That's not improvement. That's a raise in BABIP.
  11. His defense is already polished. He's very mobile behind the plate, and has fantastic catch-and-release capabilities. If anything, he could show Posada a thing or two about defense. About offense. He's a backup catcher for a reason. No amount of coaching or hanging out with Posada will change his projection. 680-720 OPS backup catcher on SSS. That's it.
  12. But improve on what?
  13. Neither was Pedroia, or Youkilis. The point is that Cervelli was projected as a backup, he was brought up as a backup, and he is a backup. That's the reality of it.
  14. Varitek was always a starter in the minors. Never a backup. Try again. Also if you'll notice, he had a SLG% above 400. He had power in the minors that finished developing in the Majors. He didn't "suck" in the minors.
  15. Platoon purposes. L R S R L R L R R
