  1. Oh man, I really feel for you. That has to seriously suck.,
  2. Also Duke's not exactly got world-beating defense behind him.
  3. can't wait can't wait can't wait...
  4. There's always Ryan Doumit.
  5. Because they're taking a team I used to love and making it into a total mockery.
  6. Based on the numbers I can see? Yep. Of course Seattle is not the best prospect development machine in the world.
  7. Clement is probably going to fill the Seattle organization's hole at first base, let me leave it at that.
  8. You know the answer to that question just as well as I do. Oh, he's hitting about as well as, say, Jarrod Saltalamacchia. If you're dealing good young players away you'd better be getting a sure thing back. Teagarden is not that.
  9. Was actually watching the Expos quite a bit growing up, since I live right on the Canadian border. They were my NL team. I was a bit sad when they moved on. I still don't like the Nationals .
  10. Even if true Teagarden doesn't look like he's going to be that guy. So far he has more Kevin Cash in him than Mike Napoli. Teagarden did his best work in the California League alongside such luminaries as Jon Still and Bubba Bell. Take out that sample and he's pretty average.
  11. Indeed. I'd rather trust Kottaras' minor league numbers to show up in the bigs at some point than go to a guy as offensively flawed as Teagarden.
  12. We might be able to work a deal for Victor Martinez. That seems to me like the best move to pick up a catcher that can hit. He'll be a FA the year Varitek's current deal expires and the Yankees will have Mauer on the brain.
  13. I like the Royals.
  14. If the Twins are willing to pay for one player it'll be Joe Mauer. And BSN07 covered the other side of your quesition. The chances Mauer comes here are vanishingly remote.
  15. Don't forget that Detroit hasn't beaten the Ducks yet. Anaheim has already upset the Sharks and they just forced a Game 7.
  16. Good luck with that -- MLB is very aggressive at ferreting out streamers. They even have Youtube clips taken down if they show copyrighted material.
  17. Most of that OPS is at the A+ level or below. His OPS at the AA level or above is below .800. Also, while I have no problem in principle with strikeouts, Teagarden takes them to an art form -- each year at level AA or higher he has struck out more than once every 3 at bats. That doesn't give you a great number of plate appearances to use your tools and do something productive.
  18. One thing the Red Sox should absolutely, definitely not do is offer a polished 22 year old innings burner for Taylor Teagarden and his inconsistent track record above AA. The downside of a trade like that is far too great. Bowden might not dominate this league but from the way things stand right now he's got a much better shot than Teagarden ever will. We're probably going to have to deal with the fact that we'll have some average catching in Boston for awhile.
  19. The Garden better be loud.
  20. The MLBPA would throw a fit. Contracts may look like annual deals but they're actually a certain amount per game, totalling that much. That would basically be an instant pay cut for every player in the league unless the league stepped in and said otherwise by official commissioner fiat.
  21. Granted that but at this point with every Boston regular who played a starting role in the WBC on the DL a month and a half into the season there's space for one last rant.
  22. OK, serious question: Do we have any players left in our roster who: 1: Played regularly in the WBC 2: is not currently out of action with some kind of injury? It's not like any of us didn't see it coming either. Youkilis and Pedroia got hurt DURING the Classic, and if anyone hasn't figured out yet that Daisuke was hiding a shoulder injury since at least mid 2008 they're blind. (Seriously, Dice, you've gone from throwing 94 to throing 84. GET THE SURGERY!!!!!) I know, I know, national pride, MLB directives, yadda yadda, but when it has this much of an impact on your star players I can't imagine that the owners are happy right now. I doubt the MLBPA is exactly thrilled either. If they can't fix this soon they're going to have to go somewhere else for players.
  23. Bout the last guy we could afford to lose. Calling up Velazquez might be another bad sign too. The reason you do that is in case Pedroia takes awhile to come back. I'd rather see Denker or Carter get the call personally.
  24. Could happen after 2010
