  2. I agree with most of what you wrote in this post, but this is silly. They had a hole at first base in the offseason. If they don't get Teixeira who do they have at 1B right now? Shelley Duncan? If anyone didn't go into this offseason FULLY aware that the Yankees would do anything within their power to put pinstripes on Teixeira, they weren't paying attention.
  3. I'd prefer Hunter Jones thanks. Or better yet, bring up Tazawa.
  4. Kinda depends on how you do it. You can't just do that, and that's a big problem with what the Yankees are doing, but spending to build your core can be done as long as that's not ALL you are doing.
  5. Actually I agree. The Yankees are more blighted by their inability to assemble a consistent pitching staff than their spending policies.
  6. I'm glad we have both of them and would rather not give either one up.
  7. Pedroia had multiple seasons in Pawtucket.
  8. You can, but they won't be playoff eligible so there's little point.
  9. Tito did have a point about Saito's pitch count. Add in the 8 intentional balls and Saito's over 30 pitches. A guy with a bum elbow. And the alternative is a guy who isn't used to warming up for the pen. Really, at that point, no option was really a good one. It was just a question of how terrible. The whole Longoria thing was just WHEN we lost, it was not HOW we lost. The game ended when Pedroia grounded into a bases loaded, 1 out double play to kill our best late scoring threat. Everything else was just aftermath, home field advantage and a desperate hope that somehow we could still steal one.
  10. Guardedly optimistic about Reddick. He hasn't really shaken out yet, and he's up mostly as an emergency option. It's telling that they're making sure he gets into the lineup though, especially since they could have played Bay instead last night. The FO seems very high on Reddick. Considering his defensive talents and his great swing, I can see why.
  11. I don't think there's that much to choose between the two. In all likelihood pitching to Zobrist just would have made the game 5-2, or 3-2 when Zobrist singles and the runner scores from second. Probably should have walked him anyway though. Saito is getting MURDERED by RHH this year.
  12. Agreed. Makes no sense.
  13. WHY are we swinging on three-ball counts against this guy? WHY???
  14. I think we definitely have to find a way to get Tazawa or Bowden onto the roster after this game.
  15. Well, someone's going to win eventually.
  16. Throw something that isn't a fastball, and throw it inside.
  17. I vote Jed Lowrie.
  18. Who do we have from our rotatation who we can call on to pitch in the game if it gets that far?
  19. Too many of these games recently. Pitchers and situations we should handle that we somehow aren't.
  20. Fail. How long can we stave off death?
  21. So... Saito for the 10th?
  22. Gotta get the big man on somehow.
  23. I'll go for a helping of that.
