  1. I want Seguin of those three. IMHO he allows us the best franchise flexibility, especially if he plays wing. He can either go to wing, or he can stay at center and we can trade whichever of Bergeron, Savard, Krejci or Sobotka it makes the most sense to move. (package Sobotka to get Ryder out of town?)
  2. If there's a guy I want paired with Wideman while he's struggling to rebound, it's Z.
  3. That was not on Schoeneweis. bard makes a better 0-2 pitch Swisher is meat.
  4. Changeup. Right over the hart of the plate. Yay.
  5. Someone want to tell me why Schoeneweis is in there in the 7th inning of a a 1-0 game? Where the heck are RR, Oki, Delcarmen and Bard?
  6. Lackey hit their leadoff guy the inning after our guy got hit. Even if the intention wasn't there, I can see a warning, if only to keep things from going any further.
  7. Think he's just trying to nip it in the bud.
  8. Two games.
  9. I'm glad he's doing well. I won't even bother to try to guess what that means for an eventual return to baseball.
  10. Come here, post this, clear troll. not even subtle about it.
  11. Meh, that was a strike even if he took it. Joba made his pitch. Oki cost us this game by walking a batter with the bases loaded.
  12. How many of you guys pounced on me for saying you'd regret the signing again? Not that one outing really proves anything of course.
  13. Nope. They made a good call that didn't work out.
  14. We aren't going to trade Buchholz. Between Wakefield and Daisuke, and incidental injuries by other pitchers, 6 starters is an absolute necessity. I'd really prefer to have Wakes in the swing role. Kid needs reps.
  15. That is a really good deal. He could have gotten nearly half that again on the open market with a good year this year.
  16. We took a chance on a guy with ace potential and it didn't work. I'd take that chance again anytime.
  17. ... he says, as if the contract was in any way rejected. They're still hammering things out smart guy, let's wait until we see the final version before we try to wax analytical about what the breaking points for each party are.
  18. One thing I have to confess -- I hadn't realized just how bad Lowell's lack of mobility had become until I saw how much better Beltre is moving around third base. Beltre's range is a huge addition to the left side of our infield defense -- I think our shortstops were taking a lot of unnecessary blame for Lowell's reduced zone. You can only shorten up by playing in or "positioning well" just so much. Lowell got a lot out of being a smart 3B for a long time but he's just too footslow to pull it off anymore. Beltre's athleticism at third is going to be a plus for the team as long as he can stay healthy and remain in the lineup.
  19. But if you evaluate based on position played rather than spot in a prototypical lineup, defense comes into play, and as poor as Martinez can be in that area he's better than Posada. Same goes for a comparison between Pedroia and Cano.
