  1. Could come up with nothing here. Sending Drew/Drew going would be a critical blunder in that case.
  2. Yeah. I love it when other teams bring in Kyle to face us.
  3. FARNSWORTH SIGHTING.
  4. JD.... uggh. When a guy's not throwing strikes you don't make outs on the basepaths.
  5. Pretty amazing when you think about it, that a guy can last this long in the majors, as a starter no less, living on what's effectively one pitch.
  6. Arguing balls and strikes I guess. I'd like to hope that other umpires aren't rallying around Joe West for some bizarre reason. That would make this season much too interesting.
  7. .... enter Mike Lowell I guess.
  8. I'd be careful about saying "won't" without qualifying it with a "probably."
  9. So TW, if I have this right you'd describe "clutch" as a player who performs as well or better in pressure situations that he does in everyday situations, as opposed to someone who tenses up when he's under the gun.
  10. Against THIS lineup that would quality as an epic failure. All we need to do to kick these guys is get through the starter before the 8th. Their bullpen is wretched. Just don't give them extra baserunners and we'll be fine.
  11. You post here at the suffrance of Yeszir and he Admins. you have a right to nothing.
  12. As I understand it Seguin does that stuff too and is a little more "complete" than Hall, thus why he plays center. I want the guy who can do the most different useful things for the team when called upon, especially if he does them all at a solid to elite level, and for me that sounds more like Seguin than Hall. Besides, from all I hear, Seguin's doing it with a worse supporting cast and that sounds more like the Bruins' situation. Maybe I'm overthinking this but if two guys are both real close in talent, IMHO you take the one from the rarer position -- draft for talent rather than need IOW. After all, having too many talented centerman is a great problem to have anyways.
  13. Definite signs that both Wideman and Hunwick are beginning to play better and rise to the challenge the absence of superior defensemen presented for them. If the Wideman and Hunwick we see in the playoffs are the ones we've seen over roughly the last week, our playoff hopes look just a bit brighter -- or perhaps "less dim" would be the more uncontroversial term.
  14. http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0guhghF5ze1JP/610x.jpg Just retire already.
  15. I'd take that objection more seriously if I knew for sure that we'd get Savard back at 100% next year. It might just could be that Seguin would be a desperate necessity at center. Regardless, you have one talented guy who can play wing, and another similarly talented guy who can play center and wing, going for a bit of extra flexibility strikes me as a good idea.
  16. Hey, I rooted for Nomar Garciaparra, so you don't see me disagreeing with you, but if you want to shorten the game you need to get rid of that stuff. It's not all on the pitcher.
  17. Hitters need to stay in the batter's box until they have an actual, physical reason not to be there. All the time hitters spend digging in, taking their practice swings and getting the mojo on, and then stepping out of the box if the stars aren't perfectly aligned -- that is the biggest ways games inflate -- often the pitcher is ready to throw waaaaaay before the hitter is ready to hit.
