  1. This is insanity. Am I missing something? We're going to trade to get an average LF and a pitcher with a 4.35 career ERA? I'm in the twilight zone.
  2. I never get over that feeling.
  3. I was on vacation and now just saw the video from the 7/25 game where Joba threw at Youk. Two things: 1. That pitch hit Youk. On MLB.com it is totally obvious. Go to the "Wrap" page for the game and watch the vid. At exactly 1:22 in to the video you can see the view from over Youk's shoulder. 2. There is no cure for stupid. (See Gom)
  4. Not that we needed proof that you're a little off center, but this post was just that. Tell me. What exactly was it that Papelbon said? Explain to me why a closer saying he'd like to close the All Star game, but understanding why Rivera should equates to an insult? As far as what I wanted the fans to do? Nothing. No one expected cheers for Papelbon. Maybe even booing would have been understandable (even though he was on the same team as A-Rod, Jeter, and Rivera that night). I certainly didn't expect the 10 minute tantrum that got thrown. Let's not forget they booed Francona, too, who by your onwn admission went above and beyond to add a little class to the night and give the Yankees their due. And also, let's get things straight. That run was Navarro's. It was not an earned run. And you want me to agree to the idea that gimpy freakin' Posada and is windflap ears would have been more valuable and anyone? Please!
  5. Now there's a question that makes me nervous... My father was a part-time Sox fan, born out of hatred for the Yankees. At some point along the way (I think I was in about 10th grade or so) he brought home a Red Sox cap for me. I wore that hat until it disintegrated, sometime in Spring of 2005. I didn't follow baseball much in high school and college. But once I was in the work force for a while I got back into it a bit. I really began paying attention to the Red Sox back in the late 90's when Pedro came to Boston. At the time, I had neither the resources nor the free time to devote to being a fan as far as purchasing Extra Innings or such. I was relegated to being an ESPN fan (Sports Center, Baseball Tonight, etc.) My interest was peaked in 2003 with all that season held. I was in front of the TV for the ALCS. Then I followed as closely as time allowed in '04. The time I devote to the Sox and baseball in general seems to get greater every summer, now that I can get MLB.tv and have XM Radio. Now, depending on why you asked the question will (I suppose) effect how you judge my answer. I have not suffered since my early childhood as a many of you have. There are many, mostly Yankee fans, who call me a bandwagon jumper. All I can say is this: Whatever I am, I am a fan. More importantly, I am a fan not because I chose the Red Sox. I am a fan because the Red Sox chose me. So anyway, why do you ask?
  6. It wasn't the story that pissed me off. I expect nothing less from the press. What pissed me off was the behavior of the New York fans through out the All Star festivities. Of course I suppose I'll eventually learn not to expect any class out of that group, either.
  7. Starting Pitcher: Jon Lester Position Player: Dustin Pedroia Relief pitcher: Jon Papelbon Bench player: Sean Casey
  8. You're right of course. But I no longer give a s*** about being the "bigger person" where these dickheads are concerned. And like I said, if it was Sox fans doing that in the same way in the same circumstances, I'd tell those Sox fans they were douche-bags just like I'm telling the current twits.
  9. It'd be like a missionary working with a recently discovered tribe of pygmies.
  10. You know, we can argue all damn day about who sucks more and what Papelbon meant or didn't mean when he was dumb enough to say something complicated to a reporter to try and translate. What I'm looking for is a volunteer the take this rivalry, roll it in to a f***ing lump and jam it up their ass! The bottom line is that the crowd at the All Star game was nauseating when Paps came out to pitch. Absolutely f***ing classless!. Whether or not the New York fans prefer Rivera (like...no s*** they prefer him) Papelbon deserved to play in that game just like every other player that night. Ass-rag newspapers are expected to do s*** like "Papelbum" headlines. Baseball fans are supposed to have more respect for the game, or at least I believe they should. And before anyone says it, I'd write the same thing if it had been the crowd in some other park and it was A-Rod they were after. I'm not going to debate this point, but I know someone will argue with me. It's bad enough to boo in a friggin' exhibition game. But to go on and on and on like f***ing second graders for the entire time he was on the mound is EXACTLY the kind of thing that makes SO MANY PEOPLE HATE NEW YORK TEAMS AND THEIR MUTTON-HEAD FANS! And not as though this version of New York, the epicenter of "bigger is better" and "out live, out do," wasn't sufficient, the various demonstrations of boorishness during more than one part of the All Star festivities (and toward more than one person) are dwarfed in comparison to death threats against Papelbon's pregnant wife. So here's to you, New York. What a bunch of weapons grade f***-sticks!
  11. Is it just my PC, or is the link for MVP voting screwed up on MLB.com?
  12. It's low class, IMHO.
  13. I don't agree with the booing, but I understand the Yanker fans booing Red Sox players. What I didn't get was last night when they booed Chase Utley. If you didn't see the ensuing comment from Utley, watch it here: YOU TUBE LINK
  14. I could think of better times for Cash to have a PH homer.
  15. Yikes! I step away for a few minutes and all hell breaks loose! Certainly a different game now! Plus I see the Rays lost again. Their lead is down to 2 games again.
  16. If our bullpen can't be great, I suppose lucky will do in a pinch.
  17. Lucked out there, too. 2 out.
  18. Well, isn't that just frickin' special?
  19. I've about had it with the stars and stripes cap logo. Can't we move on? It's July 9th!
  20. Am I getting paranoid or did Jacoby look a little lazy on that hit to center? I know his arm isn't the best, but at least hit the cut-off man or something! They're back within 1 again!
  21. Very happy to see Manny has returned.
