  1. All I know is this is fun.
  2. My work schedule keeps me outta here so much, but I see we have the usual Sox-are-winning-so-there's-no-Yankee-fan-comments... Some things never change.
  3. OK, it's hard to argue that shaking up the line up has made for some offensive improvement. But I'm confused about the Ellsbury thing. He comes off a nice little hitting streak of 20-some games. He's batting over .300 and is, as always, a threat when on base. So how does Tito come up with going from lead-off to 8th. I am not a guru. I just thought it was a bit odd at this particular point and I wanted to get some thoughts from you all.
  4. I've been working too much, so I haven't gottne to stop by here much. Had to check in and see how GOM and Jacksonian are doing these days. Oh yeah... Melancon is awesome!
  5. This is an odd thing, but I'm gonna throw it out there. OK, so Drew came through with an RBI hit after his two K's earlier in Sunday's game. But is it just me or is does he seem not all there? I just watched the replay of Ellsbury stealing home and Drew has almost no reaction what-so-ever. He doesn't move as Ellsbury slides, he doesn't look of talk to Ellsbury as he gets up and the ump signals safe. Then, as Ellsbury walks away, Drew is sort of nodding. It made me think of some sort of dyskinesic twiching, or something like that. Combine all that with his lack of focus at the plate – hell, even in the field he looks glassy-eyed and dazed – is there something wrong. Is this just Drew's usual dopic approach or is there something more?
  6. All of this is well and good, but our offense still blows.
  7. My game time prayer... Now I sit me down to view A day game in Cali; let's add to the "2". I pray that Tim Wakefield will pitch at least six and beat these SOB Oakland A's PRICKS! GO SOX!!!
  8. Ask and you shall receive... compliments of Mr. Bay!
  9. I'm confused... Bard was hitting something like .429, Kottaras .280. I watched that game the other night against the Yankees when Wake started and Kottaras looked like the last guy you'd expect to be catching Wake's knuckler - he had like thee passed balls in three innings. It seems awfully quick to be getting rid of Bard.
  10. Here's one Cubs fan's argument for a straight up Soriano-Bay trade. I just want to hear you all weigh in on this: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/139773-a-trade-that-makes-sense-alfonso-soriano-for-jason-bay
  11. All the fascinating banter aside, I think the story today on the Globe site is good news. The gist of the article is that the injury is not to the oblique, but to an abdominal muscle, which is evidently a much smaller deal. Also, they have a great Dustin Pedroia quote: "When you have a physique like this," Pedroia said, "when you're shredded and everything, something might happen." STORY LINK
  12. I suppose that I'm a going to come off as bigoted or at least small minded, but I could care less if professional level baseball catches on in Italy, South Africa, or any of these other countries. There will never be a "world league" or anything of the sort. It seems like all this is meant to do is increase the dollar potential of the MLB brand, which is all about money. If that is the case, I don't want to see my favorite team's guys risking any injury for a three week tournament that is one of Bud Selig's pet projects. I also agree with those that said that Peds could have gotten this injury with or without the WBC. It would have been less likely though, since he would have been going slower in the transition from hot stove to opening day ready. It's just my opinion. I could certainly be wrong.
  13. I'm sorry but I just can't look at this and not giggle. Fu-Man-Youk! http://cache.boston.com/bonzai-fba/Globe_Photo/2009/02/23/youk2__1235401258_6782.jpg
  14. For the record, I agree with all of these assessments.
  15. This isn't a Fenway Park memory, but I hope to make it one...so to speak... Also, I just wanted to share this with my friends at TalkSox and I didn't want to start my own thread for it. Welcome the newest member of Red Sox Nation... Joseph Daniel (J.D.) born 2/15/09 9lbs, 8oz, 21inches. (Pictured here with his older brother, Steven, already an outspoken Yankee basher!) http://spieles.com/photos/JDS/images/soxboys.jpg I'm looking forward to taking them both (along with their sisters) to the Fens someday. GO SOX!!!
  16. I did hear some s*** being thrown Henry's direction over the fact that the two times he's come out publicly for a salary cap were right after the Yanks got A-Rod and right before the new Yankee Stadium is opening. Colin Cowherd, for one, was pretty hilarious ranting about it.
  17. The confession... http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=3894963 I am glad he went this route, rather than issue some idiotic denial or whatever. I want to see the other 103!
  18. Not to complicate this any further, but I had heard that the only time the cap will have the hanging sox in when they wear the home alternate. All other combinations would then have the "B". Now, that's not what all the graphics show that you can find around, but that is what I heard.
  19. As of right now, it's 12 days, 18 hours, and about 18 minutes until pitchers and catchers report. Is anyone else stoked?:wetodd:
  20. I know he's a liability in several ways, but I'm happy he'll still be there this season. I know it makes little sense from a practical perspective, but I'm old fashioned.
  21. This is the first and last time we'll see Tito's jersey. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg189/rassmuss1/blog/large_soxroaduni3guys121108-1-1.jpg
