  1. Am I a bad fan to say "just get the killing over with so I can get back to football?". They need to shorten the regular season, 162 games + playoffs is just too much. I'd love to get back to the World Series, but a part of me rather just lose to the Angles than get slaughtered by the Yankees.
  2. This sucks. I'm not expecting us to get far in the playoffs (I can't see us beating the Yankees, they are just too damned good this year), oh well. Now bases loaded, no outs. lol.
  3. How about the "traveling" rule. I don't think they've called that rule for about 10 years.
  4. Honestly, it's because 1. It's now football season and I'm in football mode. I'm a huge Pats fan and, well, I find football WAY more interesting because of the strategy behind it. and 2. Because of, yeah, you guessed it, the Pats loss in 07. Losing that Superbowl sucked. I do actually like playoff baseball, I'm just not a big fan of celebration just at making the playoffs. Again, it's not the goal. The goal is a championship.
  5. Screw a celebration, they still need to stay focused on the goal. I could care less about making the playoffs unless we actually win a championship. Honestly, if we were to lose game 7 of the World Series, I would rather just not have made the playoffs in the first place. Less heart-wrenching and less wasted time. Making the playoffs is meaningless without the ring... at least for us big market teams.
  6. The friggin YANKEES have 5 stolen bases in 4 innings. HOLY s***, Tek, you suck.
  7. Don't worry, Ellsbury will get 2 Ribs here. or not.
  8. I'm still not sold on this move. Yes, it's nice depth, but the guy still has an awful OBP. Not a single walk in 23 games? .282 OBP? I guess that's the best we can do.
  9. I'm not sure how accurate this is, but i watched a breakdown of Lester's bad start and they pointed to the fact that Lefties were crushing him, but he still pretty much dominated righties. Their explanation was that he wasn't getting his pitches inside on Lefties. He explained that since they weren't really looking inside, Lester's slider down and away became less effective and the hitters (lefties) were able to sit on FB over the plate. Once he regained his ability to locate over the inner half against lefties, he began to dominate them again and the bad stretch was over. I haven't look at very detailed stats of his bad start, but I do remember that it was primarily lefties that were giving him the problem early on.
  10. f***. Thats pretty much game.
  11. Lol. Kotsay again. WTF is wrong with Beckett? I think Tito needs to seriously consider skipping him in the rotation to give him some time to rest up.
  12. Tito doesn't like using pinch hitters. He'd rather pray his s***** hitter comes through than using math to go with the better option. Me, I take stats/history/reality over faith every time.
  13. Nathan is trying to do his best Papelbon impression.
  14. It's seemingly baseless speculation/rumor/********.
  15. Yeah, and with 2nd and 3rd, they would have drove in runs. With the bases loaded, though, they are easy force out at the plate and double play. And no, I'm not blaming this all on Drew. He didn't make an out, so I'm not made at him. To be fair, too, he didn't exactly get a single good pitch to hit. I'm more stating why I hate turning 2nd and 3rd into a bases loaded situation.
  16. I know, it's not completely accurate, but unless the bases are loaded, you aren't driving in runs with a walk. I just KNEW we were going to get screwed when Drew walked.
  17. THAT is why walking with RISP is pointless. You have to put the ball in play. That's also why I also prefer having 2nd and 3rd to the bases loaded. No force play, no double play. Loading the bases there just causes too many problems.
  18. We have a better chance at making the playoffs if we can make a push for winning the division. Logic: fighting for 2 spots has a great success rate than fighting for 1. Giving up on the Yankees is fighting for one spot, not 2. Here's a HUGE fork in the whole "Oh, but it gives us more room in the WC race" argument: The Rays. They are arguably more dangerous and a bigger concern right now than Texas. We have to face them soon and they might bump ahead of Texas and give us a run. When you have 2 teams on your heal in the wild card, but only one ahead of you in the division, it's easier to make the playoffs by winning the division. The closer we get to winning the division, the closer we get to the playoffs.
  19. I don't believe in worrying about teams out of the division. We need to take care of our own business, not leave it up to someone else. It's like what happened to the Patriots last season. You could argue all you want, but in the end, the team didn't win the games it had to and that is the reason they missed the playoffs, not because of some other team lost a game. My attitude is always division first. We need to get our business done and root AGAINST our division rivals. Yes, we can also get in the playoffs as a wild card team, but jesus, that is supposed to be a BACKUP plan. Lets not just give up on plan A already. It really shouldn't matter what Texas does at this point, we just need to keep winning and hope that the Yankees lose. We don't NEED to gain ground on Texas, we already are in the lead. We DO need to gain lots of ground on the Yankees, though, so why the hell are people rooting for them!
  20. Last time I checked, the Yankees losing is also good for us. Can we please stop acting like the division is already sealed. We still have 36 games to play. Winning the division is priority #1, the race isn't over, thus the Yankees losing would be the better result for the team. I'm sick of this "I'll settle with the Wild Card, let the Yankees take the division, and root for them to beat the Rangers". How the f*** do you talk yourself into rooting for the team leading your damned division. Holy s***.
  21. I will NEVER EVER root for the Yankees. The ONLY possible scenario I could imagine where I would (while resenting) root for the Yankees were if it was a 1-game playoff between them and a team blocking us, where the Yankees losing would knock us out of the playoffs. In ever other scenario, It's f*** the Yankees. Yes, I'd rather the Yankees get swept and the Red Sox possibly lose the lead in the WC than the Yankees win. Remember, if the Yankees get cold and the Sox get hot, it IS still possible to get the division (thought extremely unlikely). The Point is, unless it's some fluke thing, I will never root for the Yankees. Period.
  22. LOWELL!!!! YEAH BABY!
  23. Lol, contreras is bad. If we don't blow it open here, this offense = fail.
