  1. I'd love to pick up Garza, but I'm not sure I'm ready to part with WMB, even with his struggles.
  2. I think it's disgusting how this whole thing operates. These guys are IN the media light getting paid a LOT of money based on performances which are ballooned by cheating, then they act like the victim when the truth comes out? These guys should get nailed to the wall. I personally think ALL major sports should have a ZERO tolerance policy with much tougher drug testing. Caught once, banned for life. Then perhaps these players wouldn't be so arrogant and assured about cheating.
  3. f*** Bailey. I think they need to ship his ass down to AAA until he figures his s*** out.
  4. Seriously, wtf. A 6 run first isn't enough, ok. But then blowing (they will ] a 2-run save situation? Come on man...
  5. Bailey has ZERO confidence. Not a good trait to be missing as a closer....
  6. And guess what, game tied. s*** performance from Lackey after handed a 6-run lead. No way around it.
  7. Because our lead is deteriorating and we now need to go to the pen earlier because if his pitch count, decreasing our odds of winning. This thing is far from over. When u have a 6 run lead before even throwing a pitch you expect an easy win without blowing the pen
  8. He was a single away from blowing a 6 run lead. He's pitching like dice-k, without getting out of the jams as cleanly
  9. 3,000 hits, yeah. I think 500 HR would be tough though, he'd have to average more than 24 a season through age 40. Even if he played through age 38, he'd need more than 34 a season.
  10. Gotta have a DH spot just for Ortiz
  11. Lackey is never going to be a serviceable starter in the AL East. He has flashes, but by the 3rd time through the lineup, his stuff and location just isn't good enough to get guys out. Add in the fact that he implodes at the slightest sign of adversity and he's practically useless. I wanted the guy on the team when he was a FA, but I realized since then that he just won't make it here. Dempster is a reach and Doubront hasn't really shown that he can be a starter. Any injuries and we are completely screwed. We need pitch and a big bat to be competitive down the stretch.
  12. But he did make the error and then imploded. It wasn't as if the defense made a mistake and then he gave up some bs bloop hits/hole finders. He made the bad throw and then got SHELLED. The inning happened. I've always believed that if it's the pitcher that makes the error then the runs should be earned. It was 100% on Lackey.
  13. To be fair, Lackey completely imploded that inning. It wasn't just a bad break. I saw that coming the second he threw the ball into CF on the DP attempt. He's like that. He's TOO emotional. Things get tough and he just implodes. Last night was a prime example. Even when he's on his game he's still just one bad break from a completely implosion. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for the guy, but I don't think he'll ever becoming dependable again.
  14. Fair enough. I guess my point was simply that the statement seemed pointless. If he was playing well, you wouldn't have said a thing. The fact that you mentioned it means that you expect him to go on an absolute tear, which I argue is illogical. Just because he has been cold doesn't make it anymore likely for him to get hot in the near future. Anyways, I think it might be safe to say that Pujols is starting to break down. This is now the third year he has started terribly slow and his foot injury is a major cause for concern. Yeah, I'm nitpicking. Lets move on!
  15. While hitting can be pretty streaky and a hitter can get "hot", a player isn't expected to perform at a higher level just to make up for poor prior play. Just because a coin flips heads 10 times in a row doesn't mean the 11th flip is anything other than 50/50. Yes, things average out, but the odds don't change to make up for what happened in the past. In fact, in the '11 and '12 season Pujols had a terrible first two months of baseball and thus ended up posting the worst #s of his career. Did he return to being a great player for the rest of the season? Of course. Did he make up for his slow start by playing above his expectations? Of course not.
  16. Pointless statement of the year
  17. What happened to the 7-run rule?
  18. Hopefully he'll spend his next off-day cement-shoed at the bottom of Boston Harbor.
  19. Am I the only one who thought "what a loser" when Agon just struck out, the ball got away, but he was already on his way back to the dugout, briefly stopped and had the "oh, what ever" look on his face as he stood and waited to get tagged out? So much for being aware of the situation... I hate Gonzo.
  20. WTF! 3 straight strikes and it's a 3-0 count? This ump needs to get fired I'm soooo sick of the lack of good refs in todays sports.
  21. Why is Byrd on this team? He hasn't been able to hit in years and he isn't exactly a great outfieder either. I have a very hard time believing he's the best affordable option right now...
  22. Watch the pen blow it!
  23. When's the last time someone got 3 at-bats in a single inning?
