  1. I think we're going to see a lopsided game. Dice-K pitches 7-innings, 2ER. We put up at least 8 runs.
  2. I would have to agree with Stark. People mention his tallent, but Drew has yet to actually put it together. The Red Sox made a stupid move giving him $14 million a year. He isn't even worth $8 million. Is it really a surprise he has been struggling in Boston and even didn't want to play against the Yankees a few days ago? Sounds exactly like the guy EVERYONE but Theo was warning about.
  3. HeadofSoxNation is right. It isn't always easy to tell if someone is drinking or not. I know many people who act perfectly normal when they are past the legal limit. How is a bartender supposed to know how much a guy has drank before they came to the bar? THEY CANT. The only way they could ever know for sure would be to have everyone take a breath test. That ain't going to happen. Its not black and white. Heck, someone could look/talk fine, seem perfectly ballanced, then get behind the wheel and kill someone. The bartender isn't responsible, the guy behind the wheel is. It's like blaming the gun store for legally selling the Vtek shooter a gun. You alone are to beld held for your own actions. Period.
  4. The only thing I have against George is that he owns the team I hate most in all of sports.
  5. I hate the fact that restaurants/bars and bartenders can be held accountable for the actions of someone else. But, that is the law and there could be a case here. I think the law is rediculous. Hopefully the bar will get a good lawyer and make a fool out of Hancock's case and father. It's about time people are held accountable for their own actions and stop putting blame on everyone else.
  6. I think Sox fans are overreacting to the Arod elbow thing. If you actual thought about it rationally, Pedroia did try and take out Cano during a DP situation earlier in the game. Pedroia was so far off the bag it is questionably whether he could have touched the bag, as is the rule. Arod simply did a similar thing to Pedroia in a sort of retaliation, basically saying that they saw that. And Arod was ON the bag and did nothing more than try and put his body infront of Pedroia to break up the DP. Pedroia was feet from the bag heading right at Cano to try and break up the DP. Bais?... Just because Arod isn't a Kevin Millar type doesn't mean that he wouldnt "fit" with the team. Remember, there are many great professional, quiet players who have played on the Sox (Lowell, Loretta, etc etc) who have done well and added to the team. You don't have to be a Red Sox Idiot to "make" the team. All you have to do is play together. Go on guys, keeping reaching for a reason to hate Arod.
  7. The $14 million a year is a joke. He is only worth $14 million if he doesn't get injured and he performs BETTER than his career averages. You pay people for what they have DONE, in Drews case, he shouldn't have gotten more than $10 million a year. Now, if he does WORSE than his career averages, then its a really stupid contract. Yes, if he does turn out to still have a lot of injury problems and he is infact not healthy right now and continues to struggle, Theo was STUPID. I had my worries about Drew, but he's hitting below .240, only 2HR, and 13 RBI. 13RBI, we are getting more production out of our 9 hole than him. I mean, thats bad, thats worse than a black hole.
  8. Last night didn't look too good for Clemens. He only went 5 1/3 innings, throwing 102 pitches, giving up 3 ER on 6 hits, and 4 walks. Against a terrible offensive AA seadogs team. Guys, he's a 5 inning pitcher at best in the AL. He's just too old, and rushing him back is not helping either. He looked pretty bad his last outing, he was wild and was hanging pitches left and right.
  9. Guess what Damon... You still would have lost, you guys would have lost 4-3. Keep making excuses.
  10. And guess what, Arod has done better in the playoffs than EVERYONE on our team other than Ortiz and Manny. Yep, thats right. Lugo has been terrible in 2 series. Drew has been horrible, i mean, really bad, through 39 playoff games. Youk hasn't really played in the playoffs, Lowell has been horrible, Tek has done as well as Arod, and everyone else doesn't have playoff experience. There goes that argument. So what is the real answer why people don't want to see Arod on the Red Sox... because they can't get past the fact that he's a Yankee, an unhappy one at that, and because of all the s*** RS fans have put against him. Thats the root.
  11. I would say Manny is one of the most clutch hitter of all time, but if you look closely at Arod's stats, he has done his job. In his career, Arod is hitting .304 with RISP, 115HR, .554 slug, and .398 OBP. Not to shabby. For HR, Arod has hit 7 walk-offs, 165 Go-ahead, and 41 gametying. In 71 more games, Manny has hit 3 walk-offs, 145 go-ahead, and 43 game tying. Arod sounds pretty damned good, huh. Sample size guys. Sample size. Don't judge a player on a handful of games he has played, judge him on his career. Through Arod's career, he has been one of the best players in the game, a great situational hitter, and has done pretty good overall in the playoffs. Thats the facts. Also, there is a great article on the truth behind "clutch". Read: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=betweenthenumbers/ortiz/060405
  12. If the only thing against a player is that he isn't "clutch" in the playoffs, that says a whole lot about the player.... HE"S GOOD. And the truth is, he isn't anti-clutch either. He had 2 bad series, the last 2 playoffs. In 35 games in the playoffs, he has hit .280 with 6 HR and 16 RBI, including his 2 bad series last season. In all the previous playoff games, he was "clutch". So the whole idea of Arod not being "Clutch" in october isn't all that true. Comparing Arod to Manram in the playoffs, Manny has a much lower BA at .257, a lower OBP, just barely a higher Slugging, and had 11 more RBI than Arod's equivalent. Yes, he might have had a few more actual "clutch" hits, but come on. Thats not a good argument agaist a 5-tool HOF player. He can perform in the playoffs, people just tend to remember the last 2 series he has had in the playoffs. Big picture, and the big picture say's he will make anyteam better, in the regular season AND playoffs.
  13. That guy is an idiot. How did he ever become a writer?
  14. IDK. The Yankees lineup has been struggling all year. And remember, for the 9th we were facing the bottom of their lineup. I wouldn't worry putting Delcarmen in the 9th with a 5-run lead against their 7-8-9. In the extreme case he loads the bags then you can go to paps. But you just don't need to panic when you are in command of the game like that.
  15. I'm not arguing that. I think they did great today. But I don't like a manager putting in a setup/closer when its a 5+ run game. And Kilo, I wasn't targeting you. But I just don't agree with the mentality that because this is a must win, we should go to our setup/closer when we have a commanding lead. We may very well need them tomorrow. I understand the mentality behind it, but I don't agree the decision.
  16. I understand the argument that the sox needed this game. But they can win it by using other pitches. They had 6 outs and a 5-run game. If they put out pineiro or snyder or donnelly for the 8th good. If they get into trouble and all of a sudden its a 3 run game, then go to your setup/closer. Otherwise, there is no need to panic. You have to have faith in your pen when you have a 5-run lead.
  17. I don't like how Tito managed this either. Jima and Paps shouldn't have been used today. When you have a 5-run leading going into the 8th you HAVE to have some faith in your pen from others than your setup/closer. Piniero, Delcarmen, etc should have been out there. If they make it a save situation, then you go to your setup/closer. Other wise, REST THEM.
  18. STFU Jeter. Go suck a A-rod.
  19. And now if there is a save situation tomorrow, he very well might not be useable unless he gets out of this quick. One down. Come on now. Quick DP.
  20. wtf is going on with Paps. Throw strikes for the love the flying spaghetti monster.
  21. Y the f*** are they using Paps right now.
  22. Arod likes to polish his nails with the creme of sung yung gui.
  23. Delcarmen for the 9th would be good.
  24. Is it just me, or does Jima look like a 45 year old man in his Red Sox picture.
