  1. well, it's almost time for 24.
  2. Wake is pitching batting practice right now. Wake the f*** up wake and start keeping that knuckle down.
  3. I hope this isn't going to be another game of 20 LOB
  4. I wouldn't mind having a future HOFer on our team.
  5. Lowell and Youk are hot right now so you wouldn't want to sit either, and since Lowell had Sunday off, you wouldn't want to sit him 2 straight games. Lets hope Lowell has a good game and render this point moot.
  6. I have the same concerns, but It's not like we have to give up someone for him. If it means him or Manny, then yes, I would rather keep Manny. But if we can get him and add him to our lineup while keeping Ortiz and Manny, than I don't see how anyone can argue that he isn't clutch in october. Are there other 3B or SS options that are HOF calibre and Mr. October that I am unaware of? Thats what I thought.
  7. This is going to be one exciting night. I'll try to watch the 2 hour finale of 24 and the sox game.
  8. Lowell with back-to-back games off? Hmm. I hope that the lineup is wrong or Tito is just going with the numbers and not that Lowell is hurting.
  9. But you have to remember, if he only averages around 5 innings a game, that puts alot of work on an already overworked pen. Thats part of the problem. Yes he will still give the Yankees a chance to win games, but if he is only going 5 innings a game, thats not going to help the pen. I'm certainly not writing off the Yankees, I just don't think Clemens will significantly help your team like a lot of people think.
  10. I'm not denying that he put up great numbers the last few years, but I'm saying that they are misleading because of the league he is pitching in. Some people believe Clemens will put up great numbers like that in the AL. THAT is just plain stupid thought. There is far more reason to believe that Clemens wont do any better for the Yankees than he did in the 5 year stretch from 99-03, but then add 4 years to his age since 03 and duribility concerns, and you have trouble. I also disagree to an extent with you saying that his innings per game in Hou was misleading. Yes, there were situations where he was taken out for a PH, but last season he threw 1827 pitches through 113 innings. That equates to just over 16 pitches an inning. That means he is reaching 100 pitches on average after the 6th inning. Now, add another year to his age, throw him in the AL with a DH and tougher lineups, and tell me how he is going to be doing better than that? It is very reasonable to believe he is only going to be able to pitch an average of about 5 innings a game. I agree that he will at least bring some stability to your rotation. But honestly, I think a rookie in the rotation would have a better overall value. He would probably give you similar performance, but probably give you more innings, a full season, and it wouldn't cost the team a penny. I don't think Clemens is worth it at $28 million and I don't think he would make signicantly more of a difference than say a rookie from the farm system.
  11. I hope they give him Beckett's starts until he returns from the DL. If he continues to pitch well, move Tavarez to the pen and give Gabbard the #5 spot. Tavarez is more valuable out of the pen, not rotation.
  12. Clemens is going to turn out to be the biggest waste of $28 million. He will be nothing more than an average pitcher in the AL, but at 44, he probably wont be able to go past the 5th or 6th very often. Last year, Clemens averaged just under 6 innings a game. Add a year to his age and put him in the AL, with a DH in the place of a pitcher, and stronger lineups who will work the count better, and I can't image Clemens averaging more than 5 innings a game. Lets face it Clemens isn't the same pitcher he was 10 years ago and his numbers in the NL the last 2 years has been a bit misleading. From 1999 - 2003 (5 years) Clemens averaged a 4.0 ERA. He then went to the NL for 3 years and averaged a 2.4ERA. There is no way he pitched that much better than he did when he was with the Yankees and was 5 years younger. Expecting him to post an ERA under 4.0 is wishful thinking, not realistic. He isn't goint to put up great numbers this season. So how will that help the Yankees?
  13. I'd take a chance with Arod. He is a great hitter who could end up with the all-time HR record someday. Even if he isn't the most clutch hitter, he still would be the best SS option. I wouldn't mind moving Lugo to 2nd, but what then do you do with Pedroia? I would probably rather having Pedroia and trade Lugo. Pedroia is younger and cheaper and will give you similar production.
  14. Is there no broadcast? I can't find it on tv or mlb.tv.
  15. Because he would make our lineup better and we would be taking him away from the Yankees.
  16. How about resigning Lowell for 3rd, then signing Arod for SS. Get rid of Lugo and his stupid contract, possibly for a 5th starter.
  17. lol. I know. Clipshit got lucky getting outa the 2nd allowing just 1 run.
  18. The Yankees are gonna get swept. The Yankees are gonna get swept. Theres a new force in NY and it ain't the Yankees. Go Mets!
  19. I agree with the Sox using small ball, but only in the right situations. Bunting in a blowout or when a pitcher is having trouble is just stupid. Getting the critical steal or bunt in a close game and against a tough pitcher, can be a great move. Some small ball is alright. I love having guys steal, hit and runs, etc. Too much bunting is just stupid though.
  20. why? Its a 4 run lead. Save Paps for this weekend.
  21. Come on Donnelly, why are you sucking. Please, lets not give this game away.
  22. I nearly s*** my pants there. Come on Donnelly.
