  1. Victorino could move to CF whenever they trade Ellsbury, whether it's now or later in the season.
  2. He was the next logical choice, Hamilton- too expensive too risky Swisher- probably more expensive, sends Yankees a sandwich 1st rounder Victorino- Better then Ross, also had multiple offers, some longer then what Sox gave him, solution? Give him more AAV. That's what you can do with payroll flexibility.
  3. Interesting thought
  4. Cheaper and less risk then Hamilton. Doesn't cost a pick, or even worse send a 1st rounder to the Yankees. Also Ellsbury could be traded for SP help and they could still be in the market for a RF. We will have to wait until this pie is done cooking before we judge it too hard.
  5. It's too easy cause it makes sense. White Sox need Catching. They have an extra SP that has one year left. Trades don't have to be complicated
  6. Ok the AAV is high. But like I said for Cherries to close the deal(which a lot of people think he is incapable of doing) he likely had to go to a higher AAV to be the multiple 3 year offers he was reported to have gotten. There was even a 4 year offer. Looks to me like the FO did what it had to do to get the guy they wanted without having to go to 4 years. This looks to be the plan this off season. Less years, higher AAV.
  7. "Jack Daniels" official sponsor of the 2012 MLB Winter Meetings...
  8. I can't see them doing this after bringing in all the "good" clubhouse guys. Maybe they want to flip him somewhere. Seattle was rumored to be in on him. Ellsbury+Escobar++ is interesting package.
  9. They might be able to get Floyd just with Salty. Ellsbury will be part of a separate deal IMO. If the keep him they can put Gomes 5 feet off the line in LF and swing Ellsbury and Victorino around to cover the rest
  10. I'm seeing 3/39M... not like it's that big of a difference
  11. That is a possibility. We will have to wait and see.
  12. True, but I believe Haren would have chosen the Nats regardless. It's a much better situation for him. The NL East is much better to build value in then the AL East. And he has to be taking his next contract into consideration. Especially with SP prices these days.
  13. When taking in the draft pick aspect I'm more leaning toward I'm glad they didn't sign Swisher. That and I think he signs for more towards BJ's contract then Victorinos. I hadn't thought about that before my previous post.
  14. Also the AAV probably got kicked up as reports were multiple 3 years offers and a 4 year. People crush Cherries for not finishing deals, looks like he had to add some AAV to close this one. If it actually happens
  15. I'm not overall happy with the terms. But victorino is a decent player and adds some speed to this overall slow roster. If Swisher signs for something similar I will be a bit disappointed but calling for Cherries head is hyperbole. It's a meh move, not great, not bad. Not all deals are slam dunks.
  16. Salty is out the door IMO. I do like Sands though. He's be interesting.
  17. Why do I care if he is an adequate Catcher? He was brought in to play 1B and on occasion catch and that's if one of the other two catchers go down.
  18. C'mon, there's nothing saying they didn't try.I'm a little bummed too but Haren had good reason to choose the Nats.
  19. But I can get Harens take too if the teams happened to offer similar deals. Values a lot harder to build in the AL East and he will be on a contending team with less pressure on him because they rotation is very strong. He would have been counted on more in Boston. Boston missed out on a decent SP. Not the end of the World. If they trade for Floyd the still would have Lester, Buch, Floyd, Doubront and Lackey. And still could add Marcum, McCarthy types.
  20. Nats have made some great moves recently. Haren is a solid addition to that rotation. I'm a little surprised he got 13M. But it is only for one year.
  21. A slew of prospects? He has one year left and hes more of a 25-30 HR guy then a 40+ in any stadium without a short perch in RF. He may get one or two good prospects, but I wouldn't expect a package. How does Hamilton fit into the budget?
  22. I haven't seen him play enough 1B to be convinced he's not an adequate 1B.
  23. I don't think KC could top a Red Sox offer of Ellsbury + prospects without dealing from their ML offensive core, something they are trying to avoid. I say keep them in the dark not because they are the concern but ,if they happen to inform some other teams of the Red Sox plans it could get complicated. This type of move would require playing it very close to the chest and catching other teams off guard.
  24. I think they will dangle those guys for Upton. AZ wants Simmons but Atlanta is balking at that. If Atlanta can add a Drew or someone they maybe be more willing to deal Simmons. Simmons+Delgado or Teheran is pretty good offer for Upton of Atlanta takes on all his contract.
  25. Well I wasn't proposing they pull the trigger without the #1 being lined up already. That's a must. Essentially it's a 3 team deal without KC knowing the end game because they could interfere and offer Myers package themselves for the top pitcher.
