  1. What happened to that kid Kemp i've been hearing so much about. Wasn't he supposed to be the CF in 08 for LA?
  2. ORS has a good point. Boras wants 3 years the sox are rumored to want 5, so I'll guess it will be a 4 year deal maybe 3 with an option in the 50-56 million range, thats about 12-14 million a season, which seems about right for both sides.
  3. Give the kid a chance. He hit .191 in what like 30 at bats? Lets get a little larger number of AB before we say he will never hit a ball. Manny always starts out with a s***** BA in the beginning of every season, then he catches fire and bats .300 every year. Im not saying Pedroia is Manny by any stretch of the imagination but Pedroia is expected to be a .270ish hitter. Which I think would be decent for a nine hole hitter. This is why its called a BA avg. Maybe we just got the low end of it. Maybe his bat will be better next time around.
  4. Nobody touches Jaboo´s rum, it is very bad to touch jaboo´s rum. One of the greatest sports movies of all time.
  5. Bowden is really hi on wily tho. And with them losing there big power guy, I say he might go for wily mo and just 1 prospect. But I agree with MC yet again lol in that are they just giving up on Hansen?
  6. ESPN insider was free to view this weekend, and all it said was the Sox where trying to get Texas owner warm to the idea of a manny trade again. Mark Texiera would be an excellent pick up but the only problem is hes gonna be a FA soon either after 07 or 08 and wants a 100 million dollar deal. As the spending has gone this winter so far he might just get more! TEX would be a great addition to the lineup, switch hitting power guy is nice. He´s not as proven as Manny tho so if he was to come to BOS I see him hitting 3rd with Papi hitting 4th. But if you take away Manny, there just gonna walk Papi everytime a big situation comes up. If you take away Manny your not only losing Manny´s number but your cutting down Papi´s too. Papi is an elite hitter with Manny, without Manny he will lead the league with walks. And getting Tejada is dumb. He´s a DH waiting to happen. His range is about half of what it was in OAK.
  7. Kudos to JM for winning. Nice to see a solid young player get it. AS far as I am conserned, and i´m not trying to be bias here honestly. No NYY player should get the MVP with the lineup hitting around them. Of course Jeter will have a hi BA every year. Being that he has little to no power, of course pitchers will give him more to hit then say Giambi or AROD. Like Papi said `put those numbers up in our lineup.´People gave him s*** for saying that but bottom line no matter who you route for you have to say it makes sense. Jeter is avg. SS who got a GG because of his reputation. And is mainly a singles, some doubles a few HR hitter, who gets a fair amount of RBI because of the lineup around him. Don´t get me wrong even tho i´m a sox fan, Jeter has been a great Role model for baseball for the last decade, but as i´m glad to see the voters realized hes not an MVP with the supporting cast he has. JM had Mauer and Hunter to help out, the rest where role players, unknowns, decent players in all but not the All Stars surrounding Jeter.
  8. Yes AGON was great def. But like JSinger said, without the bat is not worth 5 million a year in the AL.
  9. I like the idea that as part of a benifit for the future type deal that Beckett was told to lay off the curve. It was mentioned by another poster nad seemed in general to make some sense. Maybe the coaches,FO or whoever decided and told Beckett to lay off the curves, get his finger skin healthy(blisters), and get his arm used to throwing 200 innings. This year was the first he´s ever been to 200 innings and not had blister problems or been on the DL. As smart as I see Beckett I can´t imagine him being so daft that all season he would try to blow hitters away with his fastball. In ways this does make sense. I expect to see more off speed stuff next year from Beckett. And because of it I will make a guess as to next years stats, 17 to 20 wins plus 200 innings and an ERA around 3. Just a guess and now we will have to wait and see.
  10. I would like to see him play at 1B. Now before I get burned at the stake just listen. He´s a big guy and athletic. He can´t judge a flyball that well and can no way play RF at fenway. Give him all winter to work at 1B. Then see what you got. He´s built like Mo Vaughn in the big stocky manor. Mo did well at 1B for a number of years. His bat will only get better with everyday play. MC I usually don´t agree with you, but the 300 BA for only getting in every so often is hard to look past. He is going to be a great hitter. These last few years have been like his minor league years because of the NYY signed him to a ML contract and he never got the chance to be groomed. I can see him having a break out year, but since they probably won´t play him at first it might be with a diferent team. He´s being dangled now to the NATS and Jim Bowden who traded for him in CIN for Cordero the closer. Either WMP, Coco or Lowell is gonna be dealt for bullpen help. If you get rid of coco then wmp canplay CF where he was halfway decent at times. I still say try him at 1B, put Youk back at 3B and swap Lowell for some bullpen help. Just an idea give me your thoughts everyone.
  11. I was reading an article on MLB.com, I'll try to find it. It said that for his age and how many innings he has thrown, it was actually less then Greg Maddux, John Smoltz and like 5 or 6 other top tier pitchers. So that part of the argument over Matsuzaka seems moot to me at this point. He took 3 months off for a sore elbow. That seems better to me then some of these major leaguers who take off three weeks and try to go again and blow there elbow out( Liriano). Have you guys seen the video against the o4' all-stars? If you haven't it's on one of theses Matsuzaka threads. Go to it and watch it and tell me how you think he will do against a very good lineup. Also while watching the video, notice that the line up isn't an all-star one but a very potent line up. A lineup with the make up of a very good AL lineup. He handles them with ease going 9 innings 5 hits and 1 earned run. And for the love of God, get over the fact the spent 51.1 million, it´s not my money, it´s not your money, Jesus are we gonna give Henry s*** every time he goes and buys out a buisness or buys up some land to sel later at a higher price. This is an investment and marketing oppurtunity for them to make big money. Thats what they care about. Of course he wants D/mat to be succesfull but just aslong as they make there money why should he care if he ever wins a game. All i´m asking is open your mind and see past this as a FA signing.
  12. SD already has there 3B of the future. They got it in the Barfield Guardians trade( his name evades me at this point). So don't expect Lowell to be part of any kind of deal we do with SD. If there even is one to be done.
  13. It's gonna get even uglier before this is all over with.
  14. Carlos Lee is a fatter, worse hitting and almost gonna be just as an expensive version of Manny. This guy is gonna get one of those huge contracts because of the market and be a total pain in the ass for whatever club he goes to. They said he's huge and he only gains weight. He is a DH in the making and incase you haven't noticed, we have that spot filled. Carlos Lee would be the worst signing ever for the Sox.
  15. Bye Bye A-GON. Your defense was amazing and fun to watch. Your bat ummm......... Your defense was amazing and fun to watch.
  16. :D:D:D that's good stuff, and not over the top either, all in good fun.
  17. He will start. The other options available have just as many ? as Pedroia. So they will spend money eleswhere other then on a 2B, because they have a cheap and talented one in house.
  18. Bon voyage.
  19. Clemens as a closer is dumb. When he does struggle it's usally in the 1st inning. Thats not what you want out of a closer. He knows he can still start so if he comes back he will.
  20. Manny isn't going anywhere, because there just isnt that "no brainer" trade out there. Maybe both Young and Tex. Both are coming to the end of contracts tho, so that be alot of money we would have to pay them to stick around. I was reading an article about Tex being shopped awhile back because he is said to want a long term deal in the 100 million range. So I just don't see it happening. We all know how Manny is. He is always like this at the end of the season, he will go to his home and recharge his batteries and be all smiles come spring training and will be ready to go. MLB.com has an interview with his agent, and even his agent said theres no news from Manny saying he wants to be traded. Besides he's a 10-5 guy and if you where even able to get a good deal together he still has the power to veto it. So odds are it will be Manny being Manny in LF next season, and the one after that, and probably if he is still producing, the two option years after that. Which to me is great. I'm also tired of seeing the revolving door at SS and 2B. I do think Pedroia willbe handed the job this spring for good unless he is a total flop. SS is tricky. Lugo is really the only one left out there FA wise. Maybe they might get a young SS threw trade but i'm not really sure who is available or who is in our farm system. Lugo would be nice for a few seasons. Maybe that would give them time to find a young SS to groom for the job. As far as A. Jones playing CF. That be nice but he is a FA next year. I would rather them not send a bunch of prospects to ATL for a rental player. If they trade for a CF, say just for argument sake, V. Wells or Jones they better have a contract extension waiting for them to sign when the get to the ballpark. Yes I do realize there both unlikely, especially Wells unless there was another team involved, because I don't see TOR trading there best everyday player to us.
  21. Seanez was awful to say the least. I would becareful of Borowski. He might be a decent guy for the pen but not closer. I don't think he's got enough stuff to close against NYY, TOR,CHW,MIN,CLVD,LAA type offenses all year.
  22. Agree, wonderful find. That line up he faced was a great way to measure how he might be against everyday lineups in the AL. That lineup had a few big hitters, some contact guys, everything you would see in most teams lineups. It's actually a pretty potent line up if you look at those guys stats for the 04'season. The only lineup that good in the majors is the NYY. His control did get a little wild at some points, but think he was only 23 or 24 at the time of the game and he handled those guys nicely. I was a little weary of an untested pitcher, but my God he looked phenomenal in those clips. With his control being better then it was then, I think this guy might just turn out to be the Ace we where hoping for. I don't see him being any worse then a #2 or #3.
  23. Holy s***....
  24. Wow Scaffolds went a little topsy turvery after I was posting with him. Glad to see he made it back without too much damage.
  25. Yes scaffolds I know just throwing my 2 cents worth in. Just adding to the competitve bannter.
