Before reading this post..make sure you are sitting down
BSN07 replied to Gom's topic in Other Baseball
OK heres a question. If a trade was in place where there wasn't much money to have to give up or not much in the form of prospects to give up who would you rather trade for Mark Prior or Carl Pavano? I go with Mark Prior since his last injury was a fluke and not arm related, he is only 26( I believe that's what I read his age was, sorry if it is incorrect). I f Pavano gets healthy and refocused he could have some good years left in him just not in NYY. This is what happens when you take a pitcher who had one good year in a weak division and throw tons of money at him, make him think he's really better then he is, and put him into a way more difficult division, Just some thoughts. -
Aramis Ramirez opts out of his contract...
BSN07 replied to jacksonianmarch's topic in Other Baseball
ARAM could be what the Red Sox front office was being hush hush about, because you can't discuss another player under contract. This I think is the player they have been waiting for. He would fit in great with Boston in the 5 hole, and his batting might even get better being around Manny and Papi. Just some thoughts nothing i've read of course just some forum speculation. -
Mariners not expected to make strong bid for Matsuzaka
BSN07 replied to jacksonianmarch's topic in Other Baseball
I agree with Gom on this matter. Obviously with the big market teams in the hunt for Matsukas services, you want to keep the price as low as you can. Why would you expect the Mariners to say anything but what they said? Do you really expect them to say there gonna break the bank to try and sign this guy? That would just make every team pony up more buck to be competitve. This blind bid is bull s*** anyway, it's just away to get the most money out of a team right now incase this guy is a bum like Irabu. He knows that if he sucks it doesn't matter because the bid money will have him set for life. Just some thoughts. -
And I know I jump from topic to topic, I have the attention span of a fish, sorry I just start typing and I try to get all my ideas in without writing a novel but thanks for setting me straight and i'll try harder. And if it remains bad then just skip my post's I won't mind. And gom you said one of your girlfriends? More then one? kudos for you.

Lilly wouldn't be bad for the 4th or 5th spot for a good price, he's pitched in the A.L. East and has had some decent years, he would be a good innings eater and a decent LHP. Just some thoughts

Sorry guys I will try to make a more conscious effort about the way I write. I do apologize tho. I'm used to wiriting on cbssportsline.com and it's a mad house there

I agree Loretta is good but not that good. And with his age is only gonna go down in production, range, speed, shall I keep going? He is a good fill in role if we didn't have a young 2nd basemen but we do, Let Pedroia play, more range maybe the bat won't be as good right away but i'm sure it will come along, look at H. Ramirez, came up threw our system but only hit like .260-.270's in the minors but had good success in FL this year, don't spend on 2nd, I was lobbying for soriano but now with ARAM becoming a FA I say start the cheap rookie at 2nd and go after the big boy for 3rd. Just some thoughts

Bringing back mirabelli for wakefields last year? I'm not sure hes worth it, bring in a vet that can catch a knuckleball.
-
Ya but theres risk's with everyone, and RFK stadium is doom to a batter I've been there its horrible but he still managed decent numbers with really no geniuine batter to protect him, but either 2b or ss has to be productive at the plate, and the best ss FA is Lugo and I think he is overrated he fell apart down the stretch for the dodgers, lorretta or belliard are ok could go with one of them or let Pedroia take over, but if u have Pedroia and gonzo up the middle yourr lineup might be hurting, cf and rf need thinking of to, coco might be a good player but maybe not in Boston or he could be good if he gets healthy and off to a better start, what does everyone think of the outfield situation? Just some thought.

Come on Arod wants to be loved, he Probably hates NY as much as most of us, hes got all the money he'll ever need, so whats a few million less a year to play somewhere your embraced instead of a place where they wait for you to make any mistake then put you on the front of the sport page and say how you will never be Derek "Jesus" Jeter, come on even someone with a big ego would get tired of that... just a thought.

Mariners not expected to make strong bid for Matsuzaka
BSN07 replied to jacksonianmarch's topic in Other Baseball
I'm on the fence about Matsuka. It's just hard to say if he will do well in mlb. I mean he was great in the WBC, and theres been alot of bust from japan, usually the best producers are relief pitchers and closers for a few seasons but after awhile they all seem to get figured out to a point, and what if you get another Irabu, Georgy is prolly still thinking of that one. -
The return of "Cowboy Up" next season?
BSN07 replied to riverside sluggers's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
If Millar will take a Utility role and not complain about playing time then I believe it has to be considered to bring him back. -
Good move not real big on the cap, let him go out in class with schilling. He deserves it he has been a Loyal pressence on the team for awhile. and he can still eat some innings for them, but my only is concern is going to be who will catch him? Mirabelli isn't going to get it done, get that prospect we got in the well's trade, get him practising now so we don't go threw a Bard situation again. Theres time to practice and from what Ive heard this kid could replace Tek. He needs to sit and learn from Tek so he knows what hes doing when its time to take over the staff.

Aramis Ramirez opts out of his contract...
BSN07 replied to jacksonianmarch's topic in Other Baseball
I agree get him now and lock him up long term the 3rd base is set for the future, I would expect being around Manny and Papi wouldn't hurt his hiting either, trade lowell to s.d for linerbrink and use him as set up or give him a shot at closer. -
I hope the exercise it and keep him from coming to Boston as I've heard some say, send him elsewhere, save theo the grief and Tito the headache.
-
Yes I agree, but just for me personally I like seeing a few new faces from FA, but I also like seeing our young guys haved a shot and not just bring in an all-star for every position, as far as Zito goes if he goes to NYY he's not going to be all that wonderful, the a.l. east is far better then the a.l. west, I really see him going to the mets, he will get the same money from them as he would from NYY but he won't struggle as much in a weaker league. Schmidt is the wild card here if he goes to NYY or BOS, I see no middle ground for him he will probably be really good like schilling when he came over, or if theres any flaws in his game they will get figured out in the a.l. that didn't in the weaker n.l.
-
Yes he can steal but the sox just arent a running team, I think he will be a great player but he's just maybe not the mold they need in boston, if you can get something good for him deal him, bring in Dave Roberts for the year and let Ellsbury take over, I heard nothing but good of this kid, as for SS if you don't want gonzo back the get soriano at second for production and maybe give pedroia a shot at ss, I wouldnt mind giving some of our young guys a shot, Pedroia I think has earned a shot now, Ellsbury maybe mid season our next year but both should have a chance soon.
-
soriano makes sense I think, put him at 2nd and we have a nice bat in the line up and his d isnt that bad.
-
Yes I agree also, we could be a favorite or a joke next year and what scares me a little is that the front office is being so hush hush, I know they won't sign all the big names, besides it doesn't work look at the yankees, yes they get to playoffs but never win, they have no team chemistry and there millionaire baby's who want to be pampered, you need the right mix, so if they only get like one big name i'd be fine with that just aslong as you fill in the other holes with competant people, look at the championship team, we had our stars, goofballs, gamers, you know what I mean it was a good mix, thats what we need again, not every big name free agent like some have worte on hear, out of all the free agents I would make my splash on Soriano, he will be that extra bat we need, plus the free agent market doesn't have the ace we want, look for a trade for a front liner, who? no clue but it would be our best bet. just some thoughts
-
Ive also heard Travis Hafner could be had as well, not great D but another good hitter for the 5 spot.
-
What about Mark Texeria down in texas? Everyone seems to thin he is available, if its not to steep of a price then why not he be a great 5 hole hitter to protect manny, and yes people manny isn't going anywhere. There is too many bats on the market. No there not as good as manny's but they will come at a lower cost and they won't have to trade anyone, plus do you really want Ervin Santanna? !st ballot H.O.F. for potential greatness? and thats the only trade ive heard thats even close to being worth wild, milledge and heilmen for manny? please I laughed at that one if they truly do want get rid of manny then send his ass to texas for blalock, tex, and a pitching prospect thoses to could make up for mannys numbers and the we could package lowell to s.d. for linerbrink, or spin Blaylock and a prospect or two for Jake Peavy, In an article on cbssportsline.com they said epstein and the gm for s.d. are close friends and that Jake Peavy had come up, just some thoughts.
-
no question he's a wonderful player. if he was FA then yes I would say sign him, I was just put off of the idea of him for Papi, if there was another way we could get him without selling the farm or trading basically the face of the franchise then yes of course do it, I wouldnt mind AROD in Boston. He would most likely have the best success there, can you imagine how hard he want to beat the yankees? He would hate them as much as the fans do and want to stick it to them everytime, if the RED SOX fans embraced him he would be great,if they didn't he might stumble like he has in NY, but realalisticly the only two teams I could see him getting traded to are LAA and the cubbies, and if he stays in NYY I think he opts out of his contract at the end of the season and signs somewhere for like 18mil a season next year, and he does have an option in the contract at the end of next season, if I was the yankees I get something for him now before he leaves you hi and dry.
-
I hope georgy boy gets stuck with sheff's crying and blubbering this year, the only way it works is however gets him offers a contract right away before he starts fuming when he gets into town. besides that the red sox are not ready for 07, with holes in the rotation, bullpen, 2nd, ss expect some changes in town for next season should be fun to watch.
-
There's alot of opinions out there, what does everyone think will happen with the sox this offseason, and by the way sorry for all the post i'm sitting in holland waiting on my residence permit so all I have to do all day is read on the internet lol thanks everyone:D

Sorry didn't realize this was grammer school, I thought it was a bunch of guys talking baseball, but anyways sorry for starting off on the wrong foot. But honestly papi for arod? yes it be the deal of the century but if the Red Sox didn't win a bunch of titles it would always be thought of as a bust. Plus I think the last time the Sox and Yanks made a deal was in the late 80's, so again I say, why trade someone who has proven time and time again he can come threw in the clutch for someone who only cares about his own personel stats and can only try's in the regular season and disappears in the post season? Don't get me wrong Arod will probably go down as one of the best I just don't see why we should add him. Another point is the yanks picked up shef's option to make sure he didn't go to the sox or anyone else thatcould give them issues, if they kept an old fart from joing the team why the hell would they let Arod come to us? come on i'm just sayings it;s a little far fetched, like I said before what next brady( 3 rings) trade him for manning( all the stats you could ever want, but sucks in the playoffs( this generations Dan Marino) if this was the subject people would be trying to find this guys address and burn him at the stake.
