  1. Ok, sorry for my ignorance, I don't get to watch our young guys pitch in the minors, or watch them come up. I more or less hear what everyone else says about them. Who in the minors is considered to be a hi prospect arm and ML ready in a couple of years? The 3 B's, Lester(if healthy), Hansen and Delcarmen( I know both are on Sox ML team now).If theres anymore please feel free to add on here. With that list there and i'm sure i'm missing some. Not all of them will work out or maintain the hi expectations, with that said would it be that bad to move a couple of them now while they are thought to be hi valued? One or two of those guys should fetch a premeire SS( which to my understanding, we don't have in our farm system). Would it be that bad of a trade?
  2. Pierre is still being over payed. He's a track star playing a baseball player on tv! He needs to add something to his arsenal to be worth 9 million a year. Like walks to help his OBP, or something besides his swing at everything, get 200 hits but have .300 something OBP, or his D has got to be better, he won´t beable to hide the fact he can´t play CF that great with his speed forever.
  3. I know it's "Pick your Poison". If your gonna have good D up the middle without much hitting, then you need more production at 1B and 3B. Lowell has just enough of a bat with a great glove. Youk i'm afraid better put up more numbers in the form of RBI's, HR, extra base hits, or we have to find someone else who can. The offense can not be left up to just Papi and Manny, or if you trade manny hopefully get a couple of guys that can fill in the void left by Manny.
  4. There saying someone is offering him a 6 year deal. Yes hes been good, but getting close to 300 pounds, he's well on his way to fulltime DH. And alot of NL teams are asking for trouble with him. If he gets the big long term contract from a NL team, then ends up not being able to play the field, hes gonna be hard to either trade or they will have to stick his ass at 1B.
  5. I thought the hole reason they where putting Giambi at DH, was because they wanted a right handed 1B? Nick Johnson is a good player, but that would make them very heavy left handed. But besides Kazmir in TB, CC in CLVD, Mark B. in CHW, there really isn't that many LH pitchers to worry about is there.
  6. You make a strong reasonable argument. I can see where your coming from, at the trade deadline tho CHW where offering Mcarthy and like 1 or 2 minor leaguers. I would have to say thats better then what there gonna get now. But you never know who they will draft tho. If Pap, Beckett and dice-k work out like there hoping, there pitching staff is set for awhile to come. That said it wouldn't be surprising to see them trade some of there young arms for help at either SS, RF or whatever they deem hi priority.
  7. I think Drew is gonna be too much $$$, so WMP I think will be staying in BOS. So if they want Cordero, they will have to figure out something else. I wasn't being naive, I was just stating that Bowden for some reason has a love infactuation with WMP, and I was saying maybe we can exploit that. I mean look at the top prospects that he passed on in all the Soriano trade talks, now all he gets is 1, 2nd round pick from the cubs in the supplemental draft. He thought by keeping him he was gonna get 2 first rounds, but since then cubs finished in the bottom 15 in the nl, he only gets the one. He gets 1 pick for loosing the best player on the market. Talk about your all time back fire. The point I was trying to make only if sarcastically, is that hes not a good GM and maybe we could doop him:D
  8. It's getting a touch out of hand in my eyes. 50 million for a guy who has had one good year is nuts. 45 million for a track star( pierre), posing as a CF/leadoff hitter is absurd. I can't wait to see what kind of deal a 300 pound(lee) DH waiting to happen will get. And now with all this noodle arm Zito should easy get over 100 million. They thought 2001 was bad? This might be the craziest FA period of all time. Well until next year when A.Jones and V. Wells ( I know theres more star power thats gonna be FA, just can't think of more examples:))hit the open market with dollar signs in there eyes. AROD money might not be AROD money anymore. Beltran money is gonna look like chump change. I mean when Manny's 2 years at 37 million plus two option years looks like a bargain... s*** is crazy!
  9. That is scary, but I think we either overpay for Lugo( Drew I think is safe to say gonna price himself out of BOS), or we are gonna see one or two maybe more trades where we get a young SS to go with Pedroia( i'm not against letting two young Hi prospects handle the middle infield), and either a better D RF or a better hitting 1B. I guess it all depends on who gets traded from our end. If WMP gets traded then we need a RF, if Lowell gets traded then we need a 1b or 3b, same goes for youk. Once one or any of these guys gets traded( not saying any of them will but maybe) we will know what kind of direction we will be heading in. I wish there was someway to get Wood from LAA to play SS. Wood and Pedroia would be a nice young tandom up the middle for years to come.
  10. LAA is gonna regret that signing. But i'm glad they kept him form the sox. I can't believe they gave matthews JR, (whos had one good year and it happened to ben his contract year) Damon type money( I think damon got 5 years and 50 something milion). The GM's have nobody to blame but themselves for prices going so hi. There so worried they won't get the player and some other team will they overpay by millions to get avg. players EX. pierre, matthews all got way too much money.
  11. I was reading Mcadams colum on ESPN.com this morning. It says that with the FA market the way it is now, that we can expect a large number of the old traditional trades to take place. I guess what they mean by that is team will swap ML players instead of ML for prospects. And thats coming from omar minya GM of the NYM. They also state that Manny is more valuable now then he has ever benn and the sox could get just about whatever they want for him. Because of the "soriano salary" Manny's contract at 2 years 37 million with 2 option years almost seems like a bargain price. I'm still on the fence about trading him tho, but with all the players that are available out there now via trade( if who they say in the colum is available), there could be some trades out there that might not bring back a Manny, but might make the entire lineup solid. Players are signing alot faster then expected. I mean where not even to the winter meetings yet. If Lugo and Drew sign elsewhere for huge money then so be it. The only thing Theo will be at fault for is not going in "guns blazing" and letting he price on these guys get to hi. But do we really want to pay a 31 year old short stop with avg. D and a decent bat 10 million +( probably more now), and do we really want to give Drew 4 years for around 56 million? To me those look like NYY deals. Sign a guy for big money because he's a name and not worry about how well he will play at the back end of the contract. Yes the market is slowly drying up for players that we think we neeed, but then again we are still yet to see what players do and do not get offered arbitration, you never know who might end up out there. Then with everyone else having there money tied up in over hyped players we could get a fabulous deal. But nothing is guranteed and we still don't know for sure who we can get in the trade market as well. So lets not try and burn Theo at the stake yet, I would rather him be patient and calculating, then to get antsie and trigger happy and sign someone who is gonna be a headache for the next couple of years.
  12. But with AGON off the market theres no real def. savvy SS left. Sign Lugo for his bat, his D isn't horrific, and now with Drew most likely will be too much, and the "WMP experience" begins in RF. It was said he was trade bait but I don't think he will be now.
  13. Agreed, Sign lugo for a couple years and look for that next top prospect at SS( we have a good supply of young good looking arms now, look for a SS in the 1st round this time) in the draft or someone elses farm system and trade for them. Lugo can play while a young SS gets groomed in the minors
  14. Matthews is 32 and got 5 years. Pierre is a fast slap stick track star pretending to be a CF/ leadoff hitter and he got 5 years. Drew is gonna want much of the same and I don't think The Sox will deal for that long. They might but I doubt it.
  15. Ya lets just trade him so we can bitch when he breaks out like hanley and sanchez.
  16. I agree and have posted it on other threads. Drew might price himself right out of BOS. And now with Matthews siging in LAA, the hole Manny to LAA is looking less likely. So there goes my line up I just posted 20 mins ago lol.
  17. Yes but with Matthews JR signing for 50 million, Drew may price himself out of BOS.
  18. The way the market is probably. Theo is gonna have to get creative.
  19. Kilo I was thinking the same thing, but from a different point. With Matthews getting that much I think Drew will price himself out of BOS now and WMP will be starting in RF.
  20. Ya no kidding, anyone thought it dumb for him to leave 33 million on the table is feeling like a dumbass( myself included)
  21. Wow I was just reading this link mlbtraderumors.com put up. It's a list that shows what a FA player is worth in compensation picks. A players you get two picks B you get one and C you get none. Please someone sign Seanez! They have him listed as a type A FA. Thats 2 picks for that tool! lol:D
  22. I don't see that happening at all tho. Both sides would look like dumass's.
  23. I think this is gonna end up being a different situation this time with Boras. I don't know why but it seems this may be different. Like riverside said he usually doesn't let his clients talk like that. Boras and Theo are said to have a good relationship, so maybe this won't be a debacle.
  24. Nice find Yankeessuck013:D
  25. Please excuse my ignorance but what position does Wood play? If he plays SS like i'm thinking he does then this might be the closest thing to a "trade for Manny" that I would have to consider as maybe decent. 1.Coco 2.Drew 3.Papi 4.Tex 5.Pena 6.Lowell/Youk( Lowell would most likely be traded) 7.Tek 8.Wood 9.Pedroia Thats not a have bad line up, with Youk(if lowell isnt traded),Hinske, back up catcher, and OF on the bench 1.Schilling 2.Beckett 3.Matsuzaka 4.Papelbon 5.Santanna ( if not turned around in the TEX trade) I don't think any ML club would turn that 5 man rotation down. Just some fun thoughts:)
