  1. I heard Arizona. Thats where he lives in the offseason.
  2. What about we send Manny to CHW, they send mcarthy to TB, then TB sends Crawford to us. I'm on then fence about Manny. But that wouldn't be a half bad trade. Yes I know it's a pipedream and don't have to be reminded, it's just a conversational idea.
  3. Yes, but the millions you would have to pay to bring a "fill in" could be used elseswhere. Besides maybe Lorretta, Belliard and maybe Durham. Lorretta and Durham are old and iffy health wise.Belliard could be an option, but then Pedroia is stuck in the minors.
  4. Both of them piss in the wind on defense, but one of them or both will be playing this season in RF. Drew is gonna want a contract the FO is not going to want to give. So there will be a black hole in RF where the ball will disapear to the unknown.
  5. I agree, hes athletic enough to give 1B a shot. At this point I doubt he could be any worse.
  6. I think whoever wrote the colum took some of my stash i've gathered here in holland, Smoked it then wrote his colum. Thats the only way I see him really thinking it a possibility that the sign Hidalgo. For F sake, sign Nixon back and platoon him with WMP in RF. Or just platoon WMP and Hinske. Isnt hidalgo a RH hitter? WTF would he be good for to us? I think the writer has some serious mental issues. It would be the worst siging since Heathcliff Slocumb.:thumbdown
  7. WMP is the domincan version of Jose Canseco in the field( minus the roids:D).
  8. Lee is said to be getting a 6 year offer from Baltimore. Who in Gods name runs that Fing team? Can anyone see an Albert Belle, Palmerio,Clark,Sosa(anyone of the horrible contracts they have signed) situation on there hands again? Why is it every year they Orioles try to solve there problems by overspending on 30 something year old power hitters. I'm sure they have offers on the table to C Floyd and M. Mulder too. That team and there FO is a disgrace to any baseball fan. I lived up by DC and went to Sox Orioles games, theres alot of crack in the streets of Baltimore, but now it seems to have made its way to the FO. They go after players they should have gone after 5 years before, not when there int he twilight of there careers and pay them like there in ther prime. Thats why any hitter with some power never fears where he will play next season, there will always be a roster spot and lots of money if you want to playe for the worst run organization in baseball.
  9. Woops my mistake. It's been awhilse since that all happened and I thought his family was with him when he got to CHW. Thanks for setting it straight.
  10. Man if CHW get Crawford for just Mcarthy i'll puke. And Kenny Williams should be arrested for fraud. That deal would have to involve more the Mcarthy. It would be one of the biggest lopsided trades ever. Mcarthy has looked decent but not good enough to get a 25 year old 5 tool All Star straight up. If thats all it takes then if you where the sox FO you would have to consider atleast throwing your hat in the ring for him. I mean ya we might not have enough thats ready right now but we could get creative. Mcarthy for Crawford would be the steal of the century.
  11. Because i'm in Holland, and waiting on my residence permit, I have seemingly nothing better to do then make up absurd threads to spark conversation between my new best buds here on this site, I've come up with another! For the sake of argument, let's say the sox opening day rotation is, 1.Schilling 2.Beckett 3.Matsuzaka 4.Papelbon 5.Wakefield With that rotation there, let's have our own "projections for 07" in the form of W-L, ERA, K, BB, and anything else you would like to add on.( Remeber this is all in good fun) Just something to pass the time until the Sox have better news to talk about:) Pitcher W L ERA K INN Schilling- 13 9 3.90 175 180+ Beckett - 20 6 3.00 200 220 Matsuzaka - 16 7 3.45 220 200+ Papelbon - 16 7 2.75 175 180 Wakefield - 12 10 4.00 125 180+ Those are just round about guess on my behalf, so feel free to put in what you would expect.
  12. Who isn't a good manager that has the tools that suit him? I hate to be the one to say it, but if you took a bum of the streets of NY city, cleaned him up, and put a uniform on him and sent him out to manage the NYY, they would win atleast 90 games. Same might be said for the Sox too, so i'm not being bias. When your surrounded by great players it's easy to look good. Stick Torre in KC and if he's as good as everyone seems to think and as important to the success of his team as everyone thinks, KC should make the playoffs. Good Managers are the guys who starts with very little and can make it work. Torre was a flop everywhere else he coached, and then when he was surrounded by good ball players he was a genious. Francona was not thought of as being that great and was a surprise pick when he got the sox job, then surrounded by good players he won a WS. Mangers today make very few impact descions during a game. Yes you have to be somewhat baseball savvy to do the job, but in todays game the importance of a manager is overrated. The most important thing that a manger brings to his team and clubhouse is attitude. If the attitude is right the team will gel, but if you have a hard nose manager with happy go lucky players it won't work.
  13. If I remember correctly, Hanley hit like s*** when he came up for the Sox too.
  14. Yes and what was freddie Sanchez when we sent him packing? I'm just saying, we let a guy come up for 80 or so AB's, he doesn't do well so we want him replaced, then when we ship him off and he does well for another team everyone complains.
  15. Anyone see anyway that the Sox swing a deal for Carl Crawford? He could play either CF or RF and could lead off. Unless they got Lugo and he could hit 2nd. I know it's a stretch, but he is said to be available so I thought I put it out there for debate. Of course I would assume it would have to be a 3 team deal because TB is a pain in the ass to deal with, and i'm sure they wouldn't just out right send a perenial all star to a division rival.
  16. Drew is gonna either be to expensive or want too many years so I wouldn't pencil him into the RF spot yet. It looks as tho more and more WMP will be in RF. Or maybe CF with Crisp in RF, which would be better D wise but Crisp has little to no arm. I'm not sure if i'm ready to right off Hinske yet. He was AL rookie of the year just a few years ago. If he show to be better in RF then WMP he might get the starting job. As far as Cordero goes, I was just reading what Bowden is trying to get for N. Johnson. He wants the moon as usual, so if he wants that much for a decent 1B, then he's gonna want the rest of the solar system for Cordero. So don't hold your breath on that one.
  17. And I think a strong factor might be as well is his family joined him after he left the NYY. Now i'm not a family man yet, but I would assume that that can play a great deal on your mind. I remember them having a story about that on espn about it when he really started to pitch well. I'm sure theres alot of little things that where changed and then everything came together for him. He's a solid pitcher, and I think would be welcomed on most pitching staffs in the league.
  18. Fair enough, was just throwing that one out for debate. If Manny is not worth that much now, as far as getting young ML ready talent back then I say don't move him at all. If it's not goona fill in a couple of the holes in the line up or help with the pitching issues we have then just keep him and let him be Manny. People seemed to be surprised by how he acts. He's been doing it ever since he got to BOS. He's not going to change, everyone after last season expected him to come back and be the perfect citizen, he was for awhile but eventually you have to expect him to be Manny being Manny at some point during the year.
  19. This one is just for fun, but what do you say to... Texas get's, Manny, 1 of our starting Pitcher prospects, and maybe another pitcher or everday player prospect( since Texas is in need of young pitching) BOS get's, Texira and young, or TEX and oshuka
  20. Contreas became a pretty good pitcher once out of NYY. I say he's a solid 3 and as hi as a #2. He broke down a little late last year cause stupid ozzie guillen road his starters so much the last couple of years. So if Matsuzaka is a step or two above him, then he's a frontline starter for sure. And all this crap about Boras and the Sox not coming to an agreement is retarded at best. If a deal does not get done, the Boras will never get another Asian client. In Matsuzaka's culture it would almost be a dishonerable thing to come back to japan because a deal could not be made. Besides when have you seen Boras let his client talk in the papers and be seen out in public(lakers game) with his would be team? A deal will get done, it's in the best interest for both sides for it to happen. All this worrying is just RSN having nothing better to do and worrying about conspiracy's. Those conspiracy's are being helped by some NYY fans on here that keep wheeling them out!LOL And all the sports reporters keep trying to make a story out of this and add all these weird angles and plots like this is some Hollywood drama. The only reason there doing it is because they have nothing else to go on since the deal is being done hush hush and out of the spotlight. Which in this day in age, reporters aren't used to. There used to everything being public and up for debate, and usally one side or the other is using the media to bump up the contract value.
  21. Schilling and Wake are both done at the end of the season. Schill 100% and Id say Wake is a 90% chance to retire. So yes going into 08 we will have 2 rotation spots to fill. Padilla is a decent pitcher but not for the price he's gonna demand, and not a good fit for BOS. In BOS the bench players get as much media attention and scrutney then most teams stars would in other towns. I bring this up because Padilla is an alcoholic. A pitcher with a drinking problem is not a good way to go. Yes I know D. Wells loves his beer and probably drank all the time when he was on the Sox's, but Padilla is a much worse case. I'd rather see them go with Meche, Eaton, or just wait until next offseason to fill the 4th or 5th spot. Might be fun to give the 5th spot to one of the young studs who is the furthest along. #5 starters usally don't work as many innings as the other starters, so over use of a young arm probably wouldn't be a worry.
  22. Drew in NYY is ridicuclous, unless he is a RF by day and a pitcher by night.
  23. Red Sox: The Boston Herald reported that the Red Sox have expressed preliminary interest in outfielder Richard Hidalgo. The Angels signing of Matthews, in all likelihood, eliminates one suitor for Sox slugger Manny Ramirez. Jesus please tell me there not serious about Hidalgo. I'd rather have the horse Hidalgo.
  24. I saw this on ESPN.com, and thought with the way FA market is going, which one of these guys do you see getting moved and where? Do the Sox have a chance to acuire any of them? Give me your thoughts guys:dunno: As soon as Carlos Lee signs -- with Baltimore, Houston or San Francisco, most likely -- the impact bats will be gone. That could pry some top offensive players loose, including Boston's Manny Ramirez, Toronto's Vernon Wells, Tampa Bay's Carl Crawford, Texas' Mark Teixeira, Atlanta's Andruw Jones, Philadelphia's Pat Burrell, Florida's Miguel Cabrera, Milwaukee's Geoff Jenkins and Colorado's Todd Helton. There's more than sock available, too. As teams find out the asking prices for pitchers such as Barry Zito, Jason Schmidt, Danys Baez, Vicente Padilla and reel from the sticker shock on already-signed free agents such as Mike Stanton (two years, with a third-year option for a 39-year-old journeyman), Justin Speier ($18 million over four years), Jamie Walker ($12 million over three years), dealing for pitching suddenly seems sensible. Thus, make your best offers for Freddy Garcia, Javier Vazquez, Jason Jennings, Aaron Heilman, Brad Lidge and perhaps Dontrelle Willis.
  25. OK, I think either Aurilla or Hillenbrand might be playing 1st for NYY come opening day. Thats if they can't get a deal done for Johnson. That's a likely scenario with bowden too, because he ask for everything and the kitchen sink for his players.
