  1. I like the deal. It's cheap for a reliever that gives you the quality he does. The length is also key. The Al East is a tough place to pitch well in year in year out. If he should happen to break down or need the "get out of the Al East" card, the Sox won't be tied into a long term deal. Besides if he keeps going to arb, I doubt he breaks 7M a year for another 2 years. And I would still consider that a decent deal.
  2. As far as the thread topic is concerned, I think the Sox will have overall similar success to last season. Whether that means WC or the division(if Yankees regress) I don't know. I think they make the playoffs, and I believe that is where the difference will be seen. I think this team is much better suited for the playoffs then last years team was. That's the big difference between this year's and last year's teams IMO.
  3. Agreed. Nice read. Seems to have good head on his shoulders. Nice to know considering I believe he is the Closer in waiting
  4. He was probably hoping everyone would be too lazy to look up his exact words.
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/mlb/news/story?id=4814996 :wtf: This f_cking guy, I'm telling you what... Hopefully he got off his ass this off season. Which seems to be the case.
  6. Ellsbury Pedroia Martinez Youk Drew Beltre Ortiz Cameron Scutaro Sorry if it's already been mentioned, still catching up on the new posts.
  7. Nice post Dipre. Very informative. Hopefully this constipates the verbal diarrhea that rhet and his legions of "RBI troops".
  8. I was really hoping they would sign him. But wasn't sure how much they where in on him. Glad to see they seem to be making a push for him.
  9. It never hurts to have it.
  10. With the Roster set for the most part. Anyone see the Sox getting in on a few depth type signing for the rotation the can plug down in AAA? I wouldn't mind them going after a Noah Lowry type.
  11. Beltre has a hose for an arm.
  12. I like the move a lot. His versatility will be key. He's the perfect type of player they needed. I didn't dislike Kotchman, but Hall will be much more useful IMO.
  13. What exactly did you think they were doing?
  14. I expect the offense to be more consistent. Not as many peaks an valley's.
  15. All while at Safeco. He's going to put up some good numbers in Boston IMO.
  16. Oww, my eyes!
  17. Your joking right?
  18. If healthy I expect something like a .270/.330/.480 line, 25+ HR, 40 something walks, 100 something K's and good defense. I think that's a reasonable expectation given all the intangibles. He put's that up for a contending Boston and he will get a "Lowell" type deal from some team next off season.
  19. LAA is still the team to beat in that division IMO. Albeit they have fallen back to the pack so to speak. Texas and Seattle are coin flips for 2nd and 3rd. Seattle has a great 1-2 punch of Felix and Lee, but they still have some holes to fill in that line up. Texas has a solid lineup with some very nice young stars. If they can manage Vlad for a DH and a SP they will be right there in the thick of things. But overall their rotation has some ? marks.
  20. Wasn't 2004 also his contract year? Maybe he is one of those players a carrot needs to be dangled in front of.
