  1. V-Mart is a passable catcher now. The worry is more towards the end of his next deal. I believe he can pass as a catcher for the next 3 seasons. After that is where is get sketchy IMO. And I wouldn't hold it against the FO if they felt anything past a 3 year offer is too much of a risk. Do we really want another Mike Lowell situation? What if the Red Sox hadn't stuck to their guns and gave him 4 years like some were pining for the team to offer to make sure he stayed in Boston?
  2. That kind of came out of nowhere.
  3. Ortiz at 1B for 120 games?
  4. And the full court press is on
  5. It would be an interesting story, but as I'm sure your well aware the chances fall somewhere between slim and non
  6. I still think 4 years is the limit for the Red Sox on him and he's already turned that down.
  7. I wouldn't call it unacceptable. I believe the kid has enough talent to get a good amount of playing time and to see what he can do with it. I still think V-Mart will consider a 3 year offer from Boston if it is to catch. Which in that time span he should be serviceable at catcher. They aren't however going to bring him back with a plan to move him to 1B IMO. That would block them from getting who they truly want manning 1B for the future(I won't mention players name since he is under contract of the San Diego Padres;)). That is also the man reason I don't see Beltre coming back either. Youk isn't training for 3B because he is bored. Dipre I agree, I would really like to see them get Dunn even if it means him playing 1B this season. But they might have t over pay to lure him from say CHC, who might offer him a full time 1B gig for his deal.
  8. They must be considering him for some role in the BP I would imagine. Does he still want to start?
  9. I like Buck. Can't stand McCarver though.
  10. I read Russel Martin might be non tendered. If V-Mart heads elsewhere would a Martin/Salty rotation be good enough something to consider?
  11. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5782045 Miller is ok. Morgan sucks. Glad I don't have to listen to his babbling anymore.
  12. Couldn't agree more. But I guess if they aren't making the top of some list or on the cover of some magazine calling them the next can't miss prodigy, we should give a s*** about them and should question their abilities :dunno:
  13. Theo: Hey Scott we wanted to touch base with you about Werth. Scott: Good I was hoping you would. That's why I told him to reject 4/66 from Philly. Theo: You already rejected 4/66m? Scott: Well sure. We expect to easily top that. Theo: click If they do manage to sign him, I wouldn't be shocked to see JD moved to LF and Werth stays in RF. I know JD plays a great RF. But he could benefit from a move to the LF physically.
  14. Beltre is gone IMO for sure. V-Mart has a very good shot a leaving because someone is going to over spend on years. `Which the Red Sox don't like doing. If he will take 3 years with possibly a vesting option, he has a chance to be back in Boston. All the sports writers for the most part have Werth going to Boston, so that right there tells me he will be elsewhere(). It does seem like a fit, but we've read the Werth turned down 4/66M to stay in Philly. That's already up near the limit I see the Sox wanting to go for him IMO. I think there may be a better chance of Beltran being in LF next season. The Sox probably can't absorb his whole 17M salary. So they will have to kick in a decent prospect to get it down around the 10M range for it to work.
  15. 12 am tonight I believe.
