Ya so I'm pretty sure that ends all chances of Beltre coming back to Boston. They can take that 4/52M offer they had out there and offer it to V-Mart. Maybe even sweeten the deal some, 4/56 or even 4/60. I think he stays in Boston for that.
Well from reading around today so far it looks like there are a decent amount of teams interested in Scutaro. Looks like Theo is trying to get BP help for him. Wouldn't mind trading him to SF for Casilla+Affeldt or Romo.
I guess they feel Lowrie can handle the spot until Iglesias is ready. Or they feel they can get by with Iglesias if Lowrie can't handle the full time duties.
Also it sounds like they are shopping Papelbon and getting some interest back. He could be part of a 3 team deal that lands the Sox Upton and maybe and other BP arm IMO.
I'm sure it was more the 3 years then the 5.5M. I don't see them giving up a 1st rounder and a long term contract to any RP. Felicano may be a more likely LHP they pick up via FA.
I think Ellsbury would have to be going to a 3rd team in any trade for Upton. I don't think Towers will have much value for him. He's controllable for what the next 3 or 4 years? That would mean he would be hitting Free Agency(Boars client) right at the time when Towers is trying to build for. I think he will have much more interest in Kalish.
NL- Black
AL- Gardenhire
Black seems to be a good choice. Gardenhire was a bit of a surprise. Is this a snub for Ron Washington? Did his nose candy escapades cost him here?
That would make Lowrie or Scutaro trade bait. I've read this guy is supposed to be a really good hitter. Could be interesting pick up.
Hmm? Webb? Millwood?
He better get used to the idea of 30M annually. If not pretty damn close to it. If I'm a Cardinals fan, my blood pressure went up a little with that statement lol
Oakland has a hard on for Beltre. I was pretty sure he as gone anyways. But this just confirms it. That along with the article stating the Sox won't go above 4/52.
