I won't mind Crawford if it is coupled with trading Ellsbury+ for Upton. Getting Crawford would be a big move. Coupling him with Upton would be massive shift. Or trading Drew and signing Werth would work also

I know that's their "shooting for the moon" demands. But it Probably means 6-7 years for Crawford(still too much) and probably 4-5 years for Werth. Not as bad but till has some inherit risks involved. But I guess that can be said for any deal longer then 4 years. I really am perched high atop the fence on this matter. I see so many pros and cons for each, but I'm still not sure I think the Sox will sign either.

I like the idea of Wright. Not sure if I like him more then Agon though. And bringing in Wright reduces the chances they get Agon IMO. Not sure if he's going to want to split 1B/DH with Youk. But technically Youk would only be under contract for 1 more season + an option. So it's conceivable that 1B would open up for the latter 2/3 of Agon's deal. So maybe it wouldn't be a big deal for him. If they are going after Wright then I would add Beltran and his $ to the deal and hope it may lower the cost in prospects.

Not really. If Dunn was just league average in the field he would probably be looking at a 80M+ contract(Werth/Crawford territory). He actually seems to be a deal to me. I like the 4 years part. Especially if he will go to DH after next season.

It will hurt the Yankees for like maybe a season. And that's only if he manages to be on the team that knocks out the Yankees. But what about hit 3,000 hit? Who cares? That and would the Red Sox want to pay for an extension? I'm pretty sure if the trade for someone it won't be a SS. With Scuataro/Lowrie this season and Lowrie/Iglesias going forward, I think the SS position may actually be stabilizing.

And what pitcher other then a project that may need time in the minors will sign when they can plainly see the Red Sox rotation is full? As far as I am concerned there is no pitcher right now on the market worth the money it will take to sign them. Lee included. Lee is a great pitcher, no question. My view of him is he will be good for the next 2 years, but after that it's a gamble. After that there is nothing but gambles IMO. De La Rosa? He seems more like the next Oliver Perez then a middle-top of the rotation starter, especially in the AL East. Pavano? Um no. Those look like the guys that are getting mulit year deals and not 1 year short term or rebuilding value contracts.

Crawford has a lot of positives. But I don't see him with the Sox while they still have a younger cheaper version entering his prime in Ellsbury. The one tool you could argue Crawford has on Ellsbury is power. But given the fence in RF moving in and Ellsbury development physically, I would wager he could put up similar power numbers to Crawford. Besides Crawford is being strong in his stance that he does not want to be a lead off hitter. Taking that into consideration, he is not the middle of the order bat the Sox need. In the end I won't be upset if they get him. Probably more surprised if anything. I would much rather have Martin then Olivo. Even if it means giving up a prospect compared to just $.

Won't cost a pick to sign. Could be a match. I only have read a little about him. Anyone have opinions on him? He seems to be a solid reliable arm. Not a flame thrower type. But could add a lot of value and eat a good number of inning for the Pen.

I like the idea of Dunn at 1B in 2011. The Sox have the $ and the flexibility to offer him a very nice multi year deal. That is if he is willing to move to DH in 2012, which is something he seems to be fighting tooth and nail. But he might change his tune is there are only 2-3 year offers and the Sox drop V-Marts 4/52M offer in his lap.

I'm guessing they went to 3/54M I'm hoping they let him walk just so we can start the "Curse of Derek Jeter" talk muuuhahaha

The thought of trading Drew has crossed my mind a few times this year. With a decent offensive and healthy 2010 and him being on a one year deal give him trade value. Trading Drew could open up this team for big changes(I'm stating now I'm fine with keeping him for the last year of his deal, this is just an interesting topic). They could pull a Yankees and sign both Werth and Crawford. And have an OF of Crawford, Ellsbury, Werth. Or if they really wanted to mix it up they could send Ellsbury + prospects to AZ for Upton and have an OF of Crawford, Upton, Werth.. Excuse me I need a moment to compose myself. .....And still Add Agon in 2012. 2011 lineup Ellsbury/Upton Pedroia Crawford Youk Ortiz Werth Lee type Salty/platoon Lowrie 2012 Upton Pedroia Agon Youk Crawford Werth DH(low cost) Salty/platoon(low cost) Lowrie/Igelsias Also to be cover my bases, you could slot in Pujols for Agon technically. He still isn't signed That would be a nice powerful RHH lineup to counter act CC, Lee and Price The scenario is out there I know. But it is possible.
