  1. I have to agree with the hammer, Pena is the best answer in RF and he needs to play every day.
  2. You have to remmember that this is mainly a one man's opinion and he hasn't seen most of this players and he is only going by what other people has told him, most of the 06 draft pick haven't played as profesional or if they have not many games, i guess Callis would rather have a new pair of shoes than a used one.
  3. Like i posted earlier i enjoy jim Callis work, however when you have questionable prospects like Phil Seibel, Hunter Jones, David Pauley and even Jeff Natale in the top 30 or close to it and not in the top 30 prospects like Mark Wagner, Michael Rozier and of course luis Soto it makes anyone to wonder.
  4. Going into the Spring McGreary projects to go at the end of the first round.
  5. Nice to talk to you again Amarshall, like i have mentioned before Place and Soto are 5 tools prospects which there aren't many in the Sox sytem. I believe that Anderson its a blue chipper like i posted above with plus power potential, however he isn't as good as an athlete as Soto or Place is, which they projects as above average OF while Anderson for now only projects only average as a first baseman. My ranking of Anderson at #22 may be a bit low, but for sure BA at #5 its way too high for now.
  6. So Anderson, Kalish and Weeden has. Soto was having a good year before he hurt his wrist, he was never right when he came back.
  7. Keith Foulke declines the players option and becomes a free agent, the Sox 30 man roster now at 31 players.
  8. There isn't a question that Lars Anderson is a blue chipper prospect, but ranking #5 its way too high, so its the ranking of Ryan Kalish in the top 15 and Tyler Weedem in the top 30. I like Jim Callis work, but tnot to have Luis Soto in the top 30 prospect is a joke.
  9. Catching specially at the college level is again the weakest position for the 2007 draft. Tennessee's university JP Arencibia could be drafted in the middle of the first round, but mainly because of his plus power, defense wise he has a good arm, but his catching its average. There is a big drop off between Arrencibia and the second college ranked catcher as it could be Auburn's university Josh Donaldson or Oregon's state U Mitch Canhan. Donaldson has done very little catching being mainly a third baseman, neither is a first round candidate. In the High School front Miamian school boys Danny Rams (Gulliver prep) and Yasmany Grandal (Miami Springs H.S.) or Texan Cameron Rupp (Prestonwood H.S./Plano) are the top catchers, but again at this time they aren't going to be drafted in the first round.
  10. When all things are equal you draft a pitcher first.
  11. While the draft isn't going to be held until June isn't never to early to talk about it. The 2007 draft maybe its best in years going in into the Spring, specially in the High School class while the college one not as strong as the High School is also a strong one. i will be posting from time to time about it, with today posting the toppossible 10 players going in to the Spring. The top 10 players for the 2007 draft are; 1- David Price LHP Vanderbilt University 2- Andrew Brackman RHP North Carolina State 3- Matt Wietters RHP/C Georgia Tech 4- Matt Harvey RHP Fitch H.S./Connecticut 5- Daniel Moskos LHP Clemson University 6- Michael Burgess RF Hillsborough H.S. Tampa/Florida 7- Neil Ramirez RHP Kempsville H.S. Virginia Beach/ Virginia 8- Julio Borbon CF Tennessee University 9- Rick Porcello RHP Seton Hall prep, Chester New Jersey 10 Joe Savery LHP Rice University
  12. AZblue. Like i posted a couple of post above Zona signed with Washington. I haven't been able to find about Danny Haas or Ray Fagnant.
  13. Bosox; You're correct i guess i left the G out. In regards to Foreman i guess you meant when they drafted him because he hasn't signed and is a draft and follow candidate. Foreman has good size about 6-0 220 and with very good speed for his size about 6.85 for the 60 yards with very good power potential, however i have heard that he is on the raw side, so lets see how he does in his first year of JC, the Sox have until about a week before the draft to sign him if they don't and don't re draft him they loose the rights to him.
  14. The following players aren't going to be in Extended Spring training, but as a draft and follow some may sign with the Sox and play in the GCL in 2007. 10th RD pick RHP Kyke Snyder- Indian River CC/ Florida 12th RD pick LHP Brandon Belt- San Jacinto JC/Texas 20th RD pick SS Kyle Gilliam- Connors State JC/Oklahoma 24th RD pick RHP Robert Phares- Shelton States CC/Alabama 26th RD pick 1B Chad Gross Cuesta- JC/California 29th RD pick 1B Devin Foreman Logan- JC/ Illinois 35th RD pick OF Jeremy Rahman- Jefferson CC/ Missouri 36th RD pick 3B Darren Blocker- Connors State JC/Oklahoma 40th RD pick C Corey Davidson- Bakersfield JC/California 41th RD pick SS Peter Tountas- Jefferson CC/Missouri 42th RD pick LHP Douglas Traybill-Manatee CC/Florida 44th RD picl RHP Andrew Leary- Southern Nevada CC/Nevada 46th RD pick 3B Junior Rodriguez- Palm Beach CC/Florida 49th RD pick RHP P.J. Thomas- Wabash Valley CC/Illinois
  15. After checking with difference sources Rolando Petit still remains in the Braves organization, so the question of Rolando and Ricardo Petit being the same person, the answer is they aren't the same person. I haven't been able to get any information on Ricardo.
  16. Thank you again.
  17. Ok, thank you, so does that means because of the added debt it will take more than a year or two to paid the whole amount.
  18. When the John Henry's group bought out the Boston Red Sox in early 2002 for around 700 Millions (don't remembe the exact amount) some of that amount was supposed to have been paid in cash, but if I remember correctly not all was paid cash and there was a debt pending on the total purchase amount. Does anyone know if that debt has been paid?
  19. To answer my own question a few postings above, scout Jeff Zona has signed with the Washington Nationals. Zona who has scouted for the Sox the last few years scouted and recomended Sox's 2006 second first round pick RHP Daniel Bard.
  20. The Red Sox have signed minor free agent RHP Adam Bernero. Bernero who will be 30 yrs at the end of the month pitched in the Phillies and Royals system in 2006. Bernero pitched most of the 2005 season in Atlanta. Bernero has pitched as a reliever and as a starter.
  21. Seabeach; The problem with Cora was that he was over played part of it was because of injuries, the other part was because Francona doesn't know when to play or not over use players with limeted ability, that is one of Franconas issues among many. That Idea of Dunn at first base and Youkilis at third base doesn't work, because the defense at both corner position will be weaker than last year. In addition the Reds are going to trade Dunn.
  22. To clear the air, the Braves scout in Venezuela is Rolando Petit, not Ricardo who just signed with the Sox, don't know if they are related. The Petit that i was refering in the post above was Rolando Petit and not Ricardo. I am not very familiar with Ricardo petit.
  23. AZBlue; The signing of Petit and Zapata are good moves, Petit is an excellent evaluator with a lot of contacts in Venezuela a very well known name in that area. Zapata is a good baseball man. I am some what surprised that they have move Paulino to a bench coach position instead of having a second team in the DSL. Eddie Romero becomes the coordinator of what? What area? In addition the signing of Lazaro Gutierrez is also a very good move, has a very good knowledge of pitching and a very respected name is South Florida, however with this moves is Jeff Zona and Danny Haas still in the organization?
  24. The 40 man roster as 12/15/2006 (40) players) Pitchers; Kyle Jackson RHP Josh Beckett RHP Craig Breslow LHP Matt Clement RHP Manny Del Carmen RHP Brendan Donnely RHP Kason Gabbard LHP Craig Hansen RHP Jon Lester LHP Javier Lopez LHP Edgar Martinez RHP Jonathan Papelbon RHP David Pauley RHP Curt Schilling RHP Kyle Snyder RHP Julian Tavarez RHP Mike Timlin RHP Tim Wakefield RHP Devern Hansack RHP Hidecki Okajima LHP Nick Debarr RHP Daisuke Matsuzaka RHP J.C. Romero LHP Joel Pineiro RHP Catchers; George Kottaras Jason Varitek Doug Mirabelli Infielders; Alex Cora Mike Lowell Dustin Pedroia David Ortiz Kevin Youkilis Julio Lugo Outfielders; Coco Crisp Eric Hinske Brandon Moss David Murphy Wily Mo Pena Manny Ramirez J.D. Drew .
