  1. Guys with the shortage of catchers Barajas isn't going to sign with the Sox to be a back up catcher.
  2. Wakefield is #2 in Games pitched with 443, #2 in Games started with 306, #3 in Wins with 137, #1 in losses with 122, #3 in innings pitched with 2221, #3 in strike outs with 1570, #2 in Bases on Balls with 838 (18 away from the #1) All of this numbers are all time wearing a red Sox uniform, don't expect the Red Sox to trade or make change just because of who is catching him.
  3. Portland's talent its the weaker link in the system, however there some player that may finally put it all together like Bladergroen, Arias and Pinkney. Lowrie again will play out of position as his future its second base, but because of Natale he will remain at SS for now. The pitching beisides top prospects Buckholz and Cox it has some holes, but let see how Hottovy, Bobies and Goodson handles pitching in AA and Vaquedano out of the pen where his sinker may work better than as a starter.
  4. Portland: Pitching; 01- Clay Buckholz RHP 02- Tom Hottovy LHP 03- Matt Goodson RHP o4- Andrew Dobies LHP 05- Scott Shoemaker RHP 06- Jose Vaquedano RHP 07- Beau Vaughan RHP 08- Ryan Schroeyer RHP 09- Mike james RHP 10- Justin Sturges LHP 11- Bryson Cox RHP 1-5 starters 6-7 Middle relievers 8-11 Short Relievers Catchers; 1- John Otness 2- Dustin Brown Infielders; 1B- Ian Bladergroen 2B- Jeff Natale SS- Jed Lowrie 3B- Andrew Pinkney UT- Ignacio Suarez UT- Zachary Borowiak Outfielders; LF- Jay Johnson CF- Jeff Corsaletti RF- Claudio Arias OF- Bryan Pritz OF- Matt Van Der Bosch
  5. I can't helped if that question is too hard for your limeted brain.
  6. What was a dumb question?
  7. Bosox; Khoury is more of a second baseman than a SS, but he doesn't project any more than an utily player.
  8. Like i posted earlier Mirabelli without Wakefield has very little value to the Red Sox, but because of Wakefield he does. If Mirabelli doesn't get resign who catches Wakefield, we all know the problem with Wakefield and Bard, Tek needs to catch less and catching Wakefield's knuckler will take more out of him, again who will be Wakefield's catcher?
  9. The only way the Sox will sign Soriano would be if they trade Manny and hopefully it won't happened. Isn't that i don't like Soriano, because i like power production and speed, but because of the kind of salary that he will demand in addition to average defense (at best) in second base, in won't take place.
  10. Greenville: Pitchers; 01- Felix Doubront LHP 02- Daniel Bard RHP 03- Kris Johnson LHP 04- Mario Pena LHP 05- Jose Capellan LHP 06- Jordan Craft RHP 07- Edgar Guaramato RHP 08- Richard Lentz RHP 09- Josh Papelbon RHP 10- Yurkin German LHP 11- Felix Ventura RHP 12- Dustin Richardson LHP 13- Miguel Socolovitch RHP 1-5 starters 6-8 long relievers 9-13 short relievers Catchers; 1- Luis Esposito 2- Jon Egan Infielders; 1B- Mike Jones 2b- Chih-Hsien Chiang SS- Kristopher Negron 3B- Manuel Arrambaris UT- Luis Segovia UT- Ryan Khoury Outfielders; LF- Carlos Fernandez CF- Jason Place RF- Ryan Kalish OF- Zachary Daeges
  11. Mirabelli just filled for free agency, do the Red Sox need to resign him? Mirabelly at best is an border line ML player with his catching been average and his hitting while with some power its below average, however he seems to be able to catch Wakefield the best and with Wakefield coming back for his 13 year someone needs to catch him. Varitek isn't the answer and neither is George Kattaras the top catching prospect in the system. Kattaras has only had a cup of coffee in AAA with the Padres and needs to play everyday in Pawtucket, on the other hand Tek skills are declining and perhaps needs to play less games to avoid the injury factor. So inconclusion what do the Red Sox do? Have three catchers in the 25 man roster? after signing Mirabelli (just to catch Wakefield) and get another catcher to spell tek? what do they do?
  12. Again, I disagree, a healthy Coco would be at the top of the line up and with his speed would be stealing bases, scoring runs and his bat its good enough that it won't had to be carried for, Gonzalez defense is so good that it carries it self, the question may be Pedroia, but again with a productive first baseman it would carry him, however Pedroia is capable of putting the same numbers that Youkilis did in 06 minus the high OBP that was due to the high number of base on balls.
  13. Example; OBP is important but if a player that player that plays a production position the only thing that he brings to the table is a high OBP and that high OBP is mainly because of a high number of bases on balls, then that high OBP isn't as important if it would had been a player that plays a non production position like a SS, a second baseman or even a CF.
  14. That is correct i expect Bard along with Doubront to start the season in Greenville.
  15. Example; Everyone has an opinion and if isn't a opinion that is offensive to the other posters i am willing to listen to. Red Sox fans love blue collar players and that is what Youkilis is and that is only reason for the love affair with him. You're correct i don't believe that trading Youkilis by himself would bring top value back, in a package deal it needs to be seen if it will.
  16. Example; you tried to be funny, but i didn't get the joke, but that is correct those are very average first year player numbers, specially for someone who play the whole year in the ML and again kevin Youkilis isn't a starting corner infielder material for a champions ship contender.
  17. Let start with the new Red Sox minor league team in 2007, California's league Lancaster. Lancaster; Pitchers: 01- Mike Bowden RHP 02- Justin Masterson RHP 03- Ryan Phillips LHP 04- Chris Jones RHP 05- Michael Rozier LHP 06- Gary Galvez RHP 07- Hunter Jones LHP 08- Jason Blackley RHP 09- Kyle Fernandes LHP 10- Ismael Casillas RHP 11- Tim Cox LHP 12- Blake Maxwell RHP 1-5- Starters 6-8 Middle relievers, 9-12 short relievers Catchers 1- Mark Wagner 2- Mitch Stachowsky* * Salvador Paniagua a minor league free agent catcher if he gets resigned will be the #2 catcher. Infielders: 1B- Aaron Bates 2B- Dominic Ramos SS- Christian lara 3B- Tony Granadillo UT- Scott White UT- Dustin kelly Outfielders: LF- Chris Turner CF- Yahmed Yema RF- Luis Soto OF- Mickey Hall OF- Billy Bell
  18. Yea we saw what Kevin Youkilis did 13 HR 70 RBI and 120 strike outs.
  19. There isn't a question that Lugo its a better hitter than Gonzalez and has better speed, however Gonzalez has the better power. As defense goes Gonzalez its the better defensive SS of the two and with a lot better range. The Sox needs to keep that left side (Gonzalez & Lowell) of the infield together. For those who don't the way Loretta plays baseball Pedroia ceiling its Loretta. In another words Pedroia's game it very similar to Loretta.
  20. In 2004 Millar had 25 HR and Tek had 18 HR. If the Sox are going to compete in the AL in 2007 they need more production other than Ortiz and Manny and they aren't going to get it if its Youklis and Nixon in first base and right field.
  21. I disagree, the problem its lack of players that can hit to support Manny and Ortiz.
  22. Breslow doesn't have the time in the ML to be a ML free agent, as of now he is on the Sox's 40 man roster, however i would said that his chances of making the Sox 25 man roster out of Spring training isn't better than 50-50.
  23. The point is that Manny and Ortiz needs help, the last couple of years if Manny or Ortiz don't produce in a game, the Sox have a problem scoring runs in those games.
  24. Well, if Youkilis would had been a second baseman like i believe 700 posted earlier it wouldn't had been his fault, but since he doesn't have the quickness or range for second base and only can play a corner position with his kind of production its a problem. Example; Some Sox fans and not baseball evaluators taught that Youkilis was going to be third baseman of the future, baseball people new well about Youkilis lack of bat speed (the main reason for lack pf power) and his short commings. Spann on the other hand is a lot more athletic than Youkilis with the potential one day of been a plus defender at the hot corner, in addition its the type of hitter that while he may never have Youkilis OBP he may be a better in the ML than in the lower minors, specially in the production department another words a better hitter than Youkilis. Guys I am not saying that there isn't a future for Youkilis in the ML, just that not as a starting corner player and ideally if not traded this Winter he could spell Lowell, Manny and the new first baseman and play about 70-80 games, maybe more as a defensive replacemet for the first baseman.
