  1. That's why they play the games. I think the Yankees have been bit pretty hard with the injury bug, and are sitting at 6-6. Pavano is a lost cause, but when Wang and Moose come back, the Yankees can make a nice little run.
  2. Should be fun. See you in October.
  3. Matsuzaka is downright filthy. Damn Cashman. Should have bid higher.
  4. Funny, I remember coming to this site, with the majority of you predicting a 3-2 split in the Sox's favor for that five game set. The packing it in came after the five game sweep. Did you forget so fast?
  5. The Yankees have lost four out of five starters to injuries so far this season at one point. With the exception of Arod, no one is really playing overall at that well. One game behind the Sox. This is the best Yankees bullpen since the Stanton/Nelson/Rivera days. So far, there is no doubt. I was at the game today, and the Yankee bullpen didn't give up a single baserunner against the Guardians. Truth be told, and the Sox fans don't want to hear it, if the Yankees and Red Sox stay relatively healthy, it won't even be close this year. I had serious concerns with their pen, but the way it is looking right now, and I do realize it's early, it won't even matter. Yankees may finish the season with a bigger lead than last year. If Clemens comes back, and it's with the Yankees, the Sox will pack it in, just like they did last year. Now, when Arod opts out after this season, it's Boston's turn. For now, don't even bother.
  6. This could get ugly.
  7. I think, with the rotation injuries the Yankees have had, and probably will continue to have, that Jacko is pitching the opening game at Fenway, and I'm pitching the last game. Tell David Ortiz to watch out for my Tadziki ball [my counter to Matsuzaka's Gyro ball].
  8. Actually, that is it. Plus I like the banter here. Go check out the Yankees sites, read a few posts, you'll see what I mean. Posts about how the Yankees should package Andy Phillips and Eric Duncan for Johan Santana, etc. It gets tiresome.
  9. God, I love stirring things up, lol. Ok...I see your Wood and Prior, and I raise you a Dontrelle Willis and Felix Hernandez. Those guys came in young, younger than Hughes is at this point, pitched a lot of innings, and are doing absolutely fine. The point is that injuries are a part of the game, and with pitchers especially, it is an inexact science. Trends definitely show what you are saying to be the best course of action, with a ramping up of their workload, and I completely agree. What I am questioning, is this kid's ceiling. I just don't see anything that makes me think he's lights out. Like I said before, I am not the best when it comes to talent evaluation, like most everyone else, I've gotten some right on the nose and missed out on others. I just see an average fastball, average curveball, below average changeup & slider. Nothing really stands out with this kid that I see. I remember watching Felix Hernandez's first career start. He had a dynamite fastball that ran on the hitters at 98, and a sharp breaking curve that he couldn't control. I figured if he ever got his curveball under wraps and had a little better location on his fastball [he left it out over the plate too much], he would be awesome. As the Red Sox if he has figured it out yet. I can't see that in Hughes. Give me Homer Bailey any day of the week. Now, there is no one you will meet that wants to be wrong about Hughes than me. Maybe it's the cynic in me, I am a New Yorker, after all, but I just don't see what everyone is so fired up about with this kid. Truthfully, jacko, how much do you really know about this kid that hasn't been spoon-fed to you? Outside of what I saw in spring training, and a couple of starts I saw while running around the country, I only know what they tell me. It's just what I've seen [i know the sample pool is small] doesn't mesh with what I've heard/read.
  10. Ok now you have annoyed me. How many starts have you actually seen of this guy? I do a lot of travelling, so I have seen about ten of his starts throughout the minors when I was passing through. Have you ever seen a start of his that wasn't broadcast on YES? In fact, have you any information of his that hasn't been spoon-fed to you by the Yankee front office? You know Jacks, you really aren't better than the red sox fans that get on here and proclaim what everyone tells them as the gospel truth. Believe what you want, but realize one thing, just one thing....if he was as good as they said he was, he would be starting in NY. So, do me a favor..go back to being a closet Sox fan, and leave the real Yankee analysis to the people who know the Yankees.
  11. I'm not so high on this Hughes guy, as you may have noticed, I don't buy into front office hype, no matter the team. He doesn't have that great a fastball, and I view him as a rich man's version of Beckett. I would trade him for Felix, Halladay, Santana, etc. Maybe I'm setting the bar too high. Pretty much any pitcher in the top 20 in either league. Hughes will go the way of Generation X of the Mets. The best move the Yankees should do is trade this guy while his stock is high.
  12. Hopefully, the Yankees got all their injuries out of the way.
  13. Yeah, I like to sit back and enjoy the games. I have MLB Extra Innings, and I would much rather sit and watch the game first. I don't find watching a game, especially when I have 4 games on at once, as enjoyable with a laptop on my lap. So yes, I will come on both before, and after a game. Check the Yankee posts, I never come on during a game. If the Yankees are home, I am probably at the game. I didn't say Matsuzaka pitched poorly, I just said he didn't impress me. If this is the best he's got, the good hitting teams will murder him. It's not like you have a pen to protect his lead anyways.
  14. This one sounds like a young'un, so I will reserve my venom. For now.
  15. 86 wins and third place. Just a reminder.
  16. Some random thoughts... If you listen to Yankee announcers, you know that there aren't any bigger "homer" announcers in the AL East. We've kind of come to expect it now. An opposing player can go 4-4 while hitting for the cycle, while a Yankee player wins the award for a sacrifice bunt. Get used to it.
  17. It will be sad. Jeter and Mo.
  18. Dude, they sucked last night. It was also SNOWING. I've never been to a baseball game when it was SNOWING. I have tickets for tonight if anyone wants it, it is way too cold for me to do two days in a row.
