  1. I'll give the Sox credit for the sweep. Some things I noticed looking back at the series. The Red Sox starting pitchers are not as good as they have been touted. It is much more suspect than I believed. The Yankee bullpen is not as good as touted. Papelbon is as amazing a pitcher as there is in baseball right now. Joe Torre is the biggest idiot in baseball. The Yankees will not win anything as long as this guy is calling the shots. Congrats Sox fans. Round Two, next weekend.
  2. What do you think the odds are the Yankees knock out Matsuzaka in the first inning? Hey, I can dream, can't I?
  3. Why am I an SOB? No one made a thread as of noon EST... It's not like you guys have any say on the outcome of the games.
  4. I must say, with Chase Wright going against Matsuzaka, I do not like our chances. We blew the one game we should have won. Oh well. I'll be drunk by game time either way, lol.
  5. Karstens is not a major league pitcher, and Torre is an idiot. Screw this game, I'm going out drinking. See ya all later.
  6. His location is WAY OFF. That's what is worrisome. I can't believe that the biggest concern in the bullpen is Rivera. I never thought I would say that. Oh well.
  7. Farnsworth. LOL! They blow a six run lead, and the day before they come back from a 4 run deficit. Such is baseball.
  8. If Rivera can't shape up, the Yankees are going nowhere, no matter what Arod and Co. do. I can't believe that Rivera has cost us TWO gimme wins in the first 15 games. Wow.
  9. He is making 27.7 million a year this year. I can't see an AAV of 28 million from anyone, even the Yankees. I don't think he's going to take a pay cut, do you?
  10. Jacko, thanks for correcting me. I can't see a player opting out to make less money per year. The point, Budlight, is the Yankees have NO POWER from the right side whatsoever without Arod. Basically, teams will be signing up bat boys to pitch against the Yankees if they are left-handed. They would need a power hitting 3b who is right-handed. They have the best one in the game, and he is making more money here than he would elsewhere. Regardless, it's a perfect fit, no matter what the Sox fans tell you. Like Ortiz in Boston, just fits perfectly. By the way, Farnsworth has the title of the most-hated Yankee. I could care less how fast he throws. The problem is that the hitter hits it back faster. Often. In fact, almost every time they swing. f*** Farnsworth, that f***ing f***. Sorry for the language. I think if I ever saw Farnsworth and Pavano together in public, there would be a double-homicide, administered with only 3rd grade art materials. I am starting to think I should see someone professionally.
  11. Should be fun. This is the only playoff matchup. Can you imagine? Game 7 of the ALCS, Wright vs Matsuzaka. LOL! Sox win two of three in Fenway. Yankees are too banged up in the rotation. Hope I'm wrong. However...if the Yankees take two out of three, and maul Dice-K, I think I will subscribe to the Boston papers. It will be anarchy up there. Feels nice Jacko, doesn't it, to have no pressure on our team. If the Red Sox can't put some distance between them and us by the time Wang and Mussina come back, it's over. We just have to stay close. Like us, they are an old team, and will have injuries. I just can't see a full season out of Schilling, Beckett [blister boy], and Wakefield.
  12. Arod's salary is 27.7 million this year, of which the Rangers are paying 8 or 9 million. Drew was making 11 million a year over 3 years. He got 11 million a year over 5 years. Can you see Arod making 27 million a year no matter what contract he signs? I don't. As for the drama, etc., if the Yankees lose Arod, their best right handed power hitter is Jeter. If he leaves, our run of first place AND playoff appearances is OVER. Just who do you plan to replace him with at third base with next year's free agent class? Eric Duncan? Please. You know, I remember watching Yankee games where the entire outfield upper deck was closed off. I remember when 30,000 fans meant a GREAT crowd. I remember being excited about Dave Lapoint. We have been amazingly spoiled by this team. Winning isn't our birthright. I love Mo, Jeter, etc. However, the BEST player, bar none, that has worn the pinstripes in my lifetime is Arod. It's not even close. Put it to you this way...he has a decent chance of hitting more homeruns this month than Jeter will hit ALL YEAR. The guy has pretty much put a hammerlock on the MVP award already, and it's only April. If he just hits 5 homeruns a month for the rest of the year, while going homerless for the rest of this month, he has 35. Guess how much he had last year? 35. Do you really think he will average only one homerun a week the rest of the year?
  13. Proof positive why I come here instead of Yankee sites.
  14. This is why I despise fantasy baseball. It makes you root for players AGAINST your favorite team.
  15. What planet do you live on?
  16. I wasn't talking about a series comeback. One game comeback. The greatest comeback in my mind is the 78 Yankees.
  17. Screw that. I wouldn't fight Giambi. The guy is an absolute monster. Couple that sheer strength and fuel it with roid rage and I suggest everyone runs. From both teams. He starts throwing his fists around, he's liable to kill the first thing he sees, regardless of uniform. If we can get back Zimmer, we would kick your team's ass all over the park. ZIMMER ZIMMER ZIMMER!
  18. They did that first game of the year. Booed him when he misjudged a foul pop up, cheered him when he won the game later on. Realize a few things. Two outs. Down by four runs in the bottom of the ninth. The immortal Josh Phelps up. DAY GAME during the week. The game was sold out at game time, however. If you look real close, you will see me celebrating in the bleachers, lol. That's what they have been trying to do. He has lost 10 pounds, gotten more flexible, and if you watch video of him, he isn't really using a leg kick like did last year. He's just really just lifting it up and putting it down, kind of like how Molitor used to [boy, I'm starting to date myself here]. That inside fastball that he couldn't hit for s*** last year he is destroying this year. On another, kind of funny note, I was thinking about you guys after the game. I'm watching the scoreboard, all happy that you guys were losing in the ninth, and then you guys rally. I imagined a lot of you guys doing the same in reverse. Sean Henn get's his first career win....and nobody notices.
  19. This was the most amazing comeback I have ever seen at the stadium. I took the day off to go with my father to the game, and the TV replays do not do that shot justice [most centerfield shots are that way]. He absolutely creamed that ball. That was as hard a homerun as you could ever see. In the near thirty years I have been watching baseball, I have never seen a player hit this way for this long. It's just insane. I've been to 4 games this season already, and there was a feeling in the stands that if Arod could get up, we would win the game. Talk about a turn around. Unreal. You know what was nice as well? He came up with a runner in scoring position when the score was tied in the seventh, I believe it was, and he struck out. The amazing part? Not a single person booed him in the park [that I could hear, obviously]. I turned around and mentioned it to one of my friends from the stadium, and her response was "Isn't it great?". I had to agree. It's 2:40 AM, and I just saw the replay. I never saw it land at the park. As soon as he hit it,the party began. Wow. Note to AL managers: With first base open, and the winning run on second, walk Arod and pitch to Giambi. I still don't get why the Guardians manager didn't. I am sure as hell glad he didn't.
  20. If the Sox don't win 2 out of 3 with their top three going against the Yankees Wiffle ball pitchers, I will laugh myself silly. How amazingly funny would it be if Chase Wright outduels Matsuzaka?
