    This has to be about the gayest thread in the history of TalkSox. As if someone has the ability to increase or decrease a team's winning percentage by being the one who starts a thread. I propose we ban Yeszir forever. You hear that, you Escargots and Brie lover? FOREVER!!!!

    Signing them will tough? For the Yankees? Apparently Jacko thinks that we are the Marlins. I'm just waiting for Jacko to deign the entire draft for the Yankees to be full of future Hall-of-Famers, and how we shouln't trade any of them for Sabathia come July.

    You know what? Who's to say you wouldn't have won with Hanley? Truth is, talent-wise, Red Sox lose on the deal. Hanley is going to the Hall of Fame, barring injury. Lowell isn't, and Beckett might. Hanley is as sure a bet as there is for a player under 25 in the game today.

    I played hooky from work to see the game. Good call. To tell the truth, I had no real feel that Giambi would do that against BJ Ryan...especially on an 0-2 count.

    Marte is old news, but here is a tidbit from an article from the Denver Post: http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci_9449525 Cashman is losing whatever favor he had in my eyes as this drags on. Whether or not Joba makes it in the rotation does not underscore the Yankees need in the pen, especially a lefty. Fuentes would be an ideal fit, giving the Yankees with the best pen in the game with a setup of Rivera-Chamberlain-Fuentes or an extremely reliable 8th inning guy in Fuentes. Is this guy simply asleep at the wheel as a GM?

    I think value wise, the Marlins made out better in the deal. Hanley Ramirez is quite possibly the best player in the game and definitely in the top 5, and looks to stay there for at least the next five years or so. However, I think the Red Sox were a better team with Beckett and Lowell because....Beckett led them to a World Series and Lowell was instrumental in getting there. I'd call it a wash. However, if Florida ends up winning a World Series and Hanley is a big part, I'd swing it back the other way. One of the few deals that worked out for both teams. In the long run, it points to the Marlins, but you got a championship out of. Can't see how you can complain if you are either team.

    You know what pains me...I find myself rooting for the Celtics against the Pistons. Against the Lakers....I hate Kobe. Go Green. I could care less about NY/Boston rivalry at that point. I'll be rooting for Green then too. s***.

    You know what sucks this week? Me and Phil Huge are fighting it out for QS. We both have 5. The next best in the entire league this week is 3. We both have 35 K's and only one other team in the league has more than 22. One of us will lose QS and or K's and the one who loses will probably have the most QS/K of any other team in the league. Damn, Phil Huge, you are making me work for my wins this week.

    Just a side note....from my dealings. Kudos to Kilo, SOTK, Spitballs, ORS and Kings of Swing. You guys give some decent trade proposals, and glad to see most of you doing well in the league. If you have openings in any of your leagues, and the league is active, let me know. Now that I have Arod back, I don't need Beltre. Also have an excess of slighlty above average SP. Looking to improve my depth hitting-wise or RP/SP. Please don't bother asking me for one of my starting players for people I'll put on the bench.

    The Red Sox didn't concern me. I had zero doubt that they'd be in the playoffs. What makes me feel better is that the Yankees strong point going into the season, their hitting, has been what has let them down. I have little doubt their hitting will come around. The other thing is that the other teams that were supposed to be competing with the Yankees for the wild card [along with the Red Sox] were the Tigers and Guardians. They are not doing well either. Do I think the Yankees will have a better record than one of those two teams come October. Yes. Last year, I wasn't so sure.
