  1. I think I found love, gentlemen.
  2. This is the best news to hit the Yankees in years.
  3. Moose sucks. Where is Johan when you need him?
  4. Dice K is almost as lucky as Ponson this season. Oh well, looks like a loss for you, us, and hopefully Tampa.
  5. It's ok. If the Yankees win, it's a conspiracy. If the Sox win, it's overcoming such amazingly high tremendously stupendously insurmountable odds. Yeah I get it. It never ceases to amaze me how you [primarily JHB and to a lesser extent, ORS] can make such nice posts and top it off with the most illogical assumptions. I think what the Mets gave up for Santana was garbage. Since it wasn't the Yankees, it was ok. If it was the Yankees who offered the same package, it would be collusion, or MLB sanctioned tampering, or whatever. Deal with it. Was it collusion/tampering/etc that allowed you guys to let Damon go and sign Crisp? If it was another team, it would be collusion. Go ahead...keep trying. Like I said, every team always seems shocked when the deal goes to the OTHER team. The Yankees FO tried to do it when the Mets got Santana. It's a PR move designed to make the team that got the deal seem like they got a "steal" that their team didn't get a chance at. ********. I don't buy it when "other" GMs say it, as well as ours. The Yankees were heavily involved in Sabathia? ********. If they were, they would have gotten the deal done. Sometimes it just doesn't work out for you.
  6. Go Angels. Do you guys actually watch the games, or just pore over the numbers?
  7. As always, your logic is far up your ass. There is no "old boy network" in baseball. As you like to point out, I ALWAYS value NOW over LATER. I would trade every prospect I have to win now. Jacko, my esteemed, but clueless fellow Yankee fan disagrees. You have said that part of the fun is seeing how Jacko and I disagree as literally polar opposites. Teams will always saw that they offered more AFTER the deal is done. Why, I have no idea, but the Pirates are really high on Ross Ohlendorf. I don't think anything stinks. Was it collusion with the Phillies when we got Abreu? If anything, getting back Mirabelli stunk worse because you had just lost him. All teams try to get better. The Pirates talent evaluation is not that great. However, the Yankees were heavily involved with Sabathia, but the Brewers offered a better haul. If what you're saying has any semblance of truth to it, Sabathia would have pitched against you guys last night instead of Ponson. There is no conspiracy. When we beat you, it's because we're better. When the reverse happens, the reverse is true. No one is trying to "fix" anything here. That would be like me saying that the Twins let go of Papi so you could get him, knowing that he'd be a superstar in Boston and end the curse. See how ridiculous that sounds? Except for Bonds, there is no collusion.
  8. My bad. Here. Take a look at Wilson's face, then decide. http://www.mlb.com/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20030619&content_id=382934&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=cin
  9. Wasn't that on the Spice channel?
  10. Farnsworth is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and has brawled numerous times, most notably kicking the crap out of Paul Wilson. I saw that game. Papi wouldn't stand a chance. Neither would anyone else on both teams or probably the whole league. http://www.mlb.com/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20030619&content_id=382934&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=cin Trust me on this one.
  11. Exactly what are you basing this on? According to ESPN's tale of the tape: Joba: 6-2 230 LBS Youk: 6-1 210 LBS Pretty even to me. Farnsworth kicks anyone's ass on either side. The one guy on either team I would be most scared to fight.
  12. The ump was consistent. He had a very wide strike zone, but it was consistent. I think he was a better ump than the one for game two, when he squeezed both pitchers and then expanded the strike zone as the game went on. Cousins, wasn't it?
  13. You actually believe that the Pirates gave up the players to benefit the Yankees and not to try to improve? That this was somehow sanctioned by MLB? Before I rip you to shreds on this one, I'll give you a chance to backtrack here and elaborate a bit further.
  14. Of course. It's part of the game. Haven't you heard of announcers say "They aren't going to give a rookie that pitch"? It happens in every single sport every single day [mostly, excpet tennis I think]. Jordan palmed the ball. Ewing travelled. Maddux gets a 21 inch strike zone. If Bonds [steroid era] took a pitch, it was a ball. Holding on Odgen? No way. It happens all the time behind the plate. Clemens had a book on umpires, knowing which umpires called what kind of pitches strikes, etc.
  15. Agreed. Not like you guys were going to beat Rivera, but nice of you to think so.
  16. Great post, but the end is asinine. Are you kidding me? Do you really think that RSN makes a difference? It's amazing how you can quote such intelligent things and not even thing about them. The Yankees YES Network is actually worth more than the Yankees. NESN is basically Red Sox owned. The money scale is even more greatly skewed in the two teams favor. So what? These teams have a ridiculous amount of money that you haven't even adjusted for. It's not like the TV revenue is all the same either. RSN? Give me a break. I would be surprised if it made even 1% difference. That may be a stretch too. Other than that, great post. Now start thinking JHB.
  17. Guys, nobody calls a perfect strike zone. Every umpire has his own zone.
  18. Youk is a bitch.
  19. WAIT! Is dreilly a female? In that case....if that's the case....a most sincere and heartfelt welcome! [Only if she's hot, though]. If not, then a lukewarm welcome.
  20. I wouldn't say owned the Yankees. Pitched well, but gave up 9 hits in 5 innings today [i stopped watching after we had the bases loaded with Arod up, no out, and couldn't bring in a run. I wouldn't be surprised if he got rocked next time. I also wouldn't be surprised if he gave up 1 run in 7 innings. Good, but not dominant performance.
  21. Our best chance today was a rainout. Down three already is kinda what I expected. Oh well, two out of three aint bad.
