  1. I realize these aren't your words [so I can't rip you for them], but I'll chime in. Manny was always in play. Truth be told, he's as good a LF as we have defensively [Damon is a little better, but not much]. Putting Manny behind Arod gives you the best 1-2 bunch in baseball and to tell you the truth, considering what we'd have to pay for Abreu [16 million in arbitration] I'd rather have Manny. Another good point. Lowe would be a huge mistake IMO, but Burnett is the prize for both the Yankees and Sox. My guess is that the market will be crazy for Burnett, not so for CC, since CC has kind of taking himself out of the running. I expect Burnett to end up in pinstripes...we have more money than the Red Sox, and he has closer ties to the Yankee players. You can't rule out anyone when Boras is the agent. Tex is a solid player who you can put in the lineup for 5 years and forget about him. Seeing how good a glove both he and Youkilis were in this series made me realize that Giambi is gone for good. I disagree with Nady getting better. He's a .790-.800 OPS hitter, that's his peak. With the exception of this stint this year in Pittsburgh, that's all he's done. Abreu will probably head over to Shea or end up with the Braves. You're right about Matsui. I couldn't disagree with you more. Damon is absolutely staying. He is much more valuable to the Yankees than anyone else, and his salary is too high to move. To move Damon, you'd have to eat salary, and what would be the point? If you're right about Manny, the Yankees would have Manny, Damon, Matsui and Nady in the OF, with Gardner as the rotating OF for defensive purposes. One of those gets the day off as DH pretty much everyday, with Nady getting the bulk of the playing time in the field due to his age. I agree with you when I say it should be interesting. It would be more enjoyable if we didn't have a clown who wanted to "change the story". Maybe if he was competent, he wouldn't have to worry what the media was going to write about him. Jacko, on a side note....I remember you stating that if we got CC and got to keep our prospects, it would be better than getting Johan and giving up the prospects. Don't you think it's disturbing that it is now looking like we are going to lose both?
  2. Kill the newbies. Every last one of them.
  3. Congrats guys on your ALDS win. Now lets see you take care of Tampa.
  4. That last pitch was at least 3 inches outside...wow.
  5. We had to do twenty pushups in high school if we did that.
  6. Not me...5 innings and then dinner and the new book by Patrick Robinson.

  8. Can someone unsticky this? It doesn't work anymore.
  9. Actually rician, his right oblique would cause him to open up more, not less,
  10. Honestly, ORS, too much work to determine. It looked like he was still bothered, but he just as easily could have sucked. It's really not that important either way.
  11. ORS, this doesnt tell me what pitch was what. Which were fastballs, which were off-speed? Was the batter righty or lefty? What was the percentage of balls in the zone as opposed to what he normally throws? Don't be a JHB now. Either he was hurting or he sucked. Take your pick. I'm defending your pitcher and saying that he is much better than we saw, and is probably still feeling the effects of the oblique injury. P.S. I didn't only play, I've umpired, and I've coached baseball for 4 years.
  12. It looked like he was still bothered. His pitches were tailing. That's just my observation.
  13. It doesn't get funnier or more touching than this. Tribute to an All-Time Great.
  14. It just doesn't make a lot of sense. Nady I understand, Bay I do as well, but not a 26 year old All-Star CF. Why not get a few more years out of the guy? I mean, how much younger are you really going to get?
  15. Ok, I gotta run. Hopefully there is a game 4.
  16. That oblique is still bothering him. Kinda obvious watching the game.
  17. Wow. It looks like you finally have come around. Good job, Jacko. You've finally seen my point. The thing is, at most, you can realistically bring up 1, at most 2 players and have them be impact players. Depending on more than that is a recipe for disaster. Now, since the Yankees have acquired some farm system depth, is the time to use this depth, either by trading them away or signing free agents and losing some of the depth due to lost draft picks. Either way. The truth is, the 5th spot in the rotation should always be an open competition. I would have no problem if Hughes and Kennedy battled it out for the last slot, along with some cast off veteran [Rasner, Ponson, etc.]. Same for the last spot or two in the bullpen [one if you go with a 5 man bullpen, 2 if a 6 man rotation]. This allows the players to come in and take their lumps and succeed or fail. This is nothing earth-shattering. Most teams do this. Considering the injury risk of pitchers in general, especially Pavano-Lite, the Yankees need a minimum of 6 starters going into next season.
  18. I really don't understand the Pirates thinking. I can understand moving Bay and Nady, but not McClouth. Why trade a young OF...aren't they trying to stay young anyways?
  19. It is all part of the same discussion. At this point, you have to hold on to Hughes and Kennedy. Their value is so low right now, you wouldn't get any value for them. Better to let the Yankee hype machine go into overdrive. I, for one, completely agree with Sherman [the author of the article]. He advocated the trade for Santana, he stresses the fragility of Hughes and the lack of ability that is Kennedy. He states that the Yankees need to sign two starters to go along with Joba, Wang, and Mussina/Pettitte, putting both "phenoms" in the minors. It's actually a very common sense article. There isn't a single thing I disagree with in the entire article.
