  1. And with the need being dire for a CFer, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Yanks acquire Marte from the Marlins
  2. You have to address black holes first. Torres is a good hitter. He’s back up to .650 and once the power turns back on, he should hit fine. Defense is another story. Voit has been nothing but a good to great player when he takes the field. His issues have been health related. Not worried about his bat either. But Frazier has been awful and Gardner has been just as bad. Hicks going down and dealing off Tauchman really left us without a good option and the best one in the minors is a streaky kid who K’s more than Judge but doesn’t have his prodigious power. We need a LFer and we need one immediately
  3. Voit is starting to hit, so I’m not worried about 1b. Torres just came back and had a couple hits last night, he’s not moving. Our infield is set. Higgy brings so much defensively and his bat is at least powerful enough to match Sanchez, so we don’t need a catcher. Stanton, when healthy, is a top notch DH. Judge is an all star RFer. Hicks was on a tear before his injury, but it’s a bad injury and one that I don’t think we can rely on him to recover from. LF has been a black hole. We cannot have two black holes in the lineup while other batters are figuring it out. Got to upgrade LF, which shouldn’t be too difficult
  4. If Sale can pump 98 again, then I’ll agree with you. I guess time will tell
  5. Disagree entirely. They’re two different styles of pitchers. Kluber was never a power pitcher. He’s a command and movement guy. Sale is a power pitcher and he lost his power prior to his elbow exploding due to a mysterious shoulder injury. Now sale will be effective at diminished velocity, but he isn’t getting back to his prior level performance without a massive upswing in his pre TJS velo
  6. Don’t think he needs to get a starter. You’ve got Sevy coming back soon. Most starters return to prominence 18 months post procedure, which would be September. If one of Taillon, German, or Monty can steady, you’ve got a pretty formidable top 4. What he needs to get is an offensive minded outfielder. Beyond Judge, our OF cannot hit.
  7. That’s a common Yankee first round strategy. They draft Kaprielian and Schmidt either knowing they needed TJS or after having it recently done. I honestly think the Yanks will snag either if they fall to them.
  8. Most recent MLB mock has Rocker falling to the Sox
  9. Kluber threw 101 pitches.
  10. The Yanks pitching, once again, doesn’t get enough credit. The Yanks have a true 1-2 punch again with Cole and Kluber. Kluber was magnificent last night and has continued to show mastery of the strike zone. Since he knocked the rust off a two year absence with a string of duds to start the year, he’s been excellent. If he can stay healthy, he will be a formidable pitcher to face in a playoff series
  11. And that’s a pretty good lineup too.
  12. That Kluber guy is pretty good.
  13. Quietly, the Yanks are 18-9 since bottoming out at 5-10 after being swept by the rays and haven’t lost a series in a month. While the O is still sputtering, they have improved and our pitching got better. Pretty excited to see how things move with good weather coming
  14. ERod’s velo seemed down today from his new down normal. He’s lost 1mph since 2019 but today he had no life on it
  15. I'm gonna chalk it up to having zero breaking ball or changeup command. The Rangers figured that out in the first and by the second, he was meat. Cole's breaking ball hung every time he threw it and his change he was bouncing. Two straight games where our starters s*** the bed
  16. Cole has nothing tonight
  17. Their medical staff leaves a lot to be desired as does their strength and conditioning team
  18. And Stanton to the IL
  19. IP and pitches dictate. Most "long" relievers give 2 innings and usually take a one day break before being available again. You start piggy backing beyond that and you will need 2-3 days rest, but not the usual 4 unless they go a full starter's oad (5IP or 70+ pitches)
  20. One bad game doesn't change that
  21. Garcia goes another 5 innings without an earned run. Last two starts, 10IP 5H 2BB 16K 0ER. His issue has been the walls, so if he really cements himself as someone who can locate that solid arsenal, he will force his way back to NY
  22. If your starters stop giving you innings, then the Sox brass needs to get creative. Losing Mata and Houck is big, as they could have paired with Whitlock to be regular multi inning relievers to piggy back on your worst short start offenders. Bloom has been a big fan of versatility out of his pitchers, but eventually you run out of arms when the system is short. I’d assume Valdez and Brice would be used more frequently in a long reliever role, likely Brice in games youre losing and Whitlock/Valdez for games where you’re tied or winning?
  23. I was kidding, the guy has been lights out. I mean, he’s no Chapman, but he’s really good, lol. You’re running into what the Yanks dealt with after their dynasty and before 09. Good offense gave you leads, rotation was effective but not great, only reliable reliever was the closer. It was really easy to call for #42, but you can’t burn him out by July
