Really weird line from Sale. Sale is a K pitcher. He’s facing a lineup that’s K’d the most in the AL and he only gets 3 in 6 innings? I was watching the Yanks for most of it. Was he throwing a lot of 2 seamers or something?

Stanton went on a tear, Judge continued to hit, Lemahieu went on a tear, Voit went on a tear. What it did was it changed the lineup enough to make it difficult on the pitchers. When you run 4-5 straight hulking RHH in a row, a pitcher can get into a groove. When you mix in LH, RH, tall, small, etc it forces the pitcher to adjust a little and makes the lineup a wee bit more difficult.

Had the Sox not had a hot 3-4 months out of the gate and played to their talent level (ie right now) do you think they’d have been better off long term?

Kluber was lights out through 3 innings. His pitches flattened out after that, which is expected for someone who only got up to 50-60 pitches in his rehabs. Taillon lost the sharpness on his breaking ball. He missed two seasons due to TJS and is eclipsing 130IP. He needs a breather. We have a kid in the minors who threw 15IP of dominant, shutout ball in his three starts. He should come back up and start, we should rest Taillon and keep Heaney as the piggy back for Kluber until Kluber is fully stretched out

My thoughts exactly. We need him if we make a run in the POs. Last two starts his breaking balls have been massacred. Bring Gil back up for his next start or phantom IL him and give him a breather

It’s more about the change in speed and movement. Every pitcher has a two seamer. It’s thrown the exact same way as a four seamer, you just shift the grip to with the seams instead of across the seams. Since a two seamer is thrown identical to a 4 seam fastball, it’s not really another pitch unless the pitcher pronates their hand deliberately at point of release. That’s when it acts like a different pitch. It’s typically slower with a dramatic increase in arm side run and drop.

Otto’s issue isn’t stuff. He cannot stay healthy. Also, he’s like a Tanner Houck. He’s destined for the pen without a third pitch

Sale is a tremendous pitcher at lower velocities. He was an unstoppable ace at higher velocities.

Volpe and Dominguez have been getting all the pub, but the rest of the system (even after the trades) has been rising up. Starting in A ball Tampa. 2021 1st rounder Trey Sweeney has an OPS of .953 in his debut, with 3 bombs, 3 steals, and a .426OBP in 16 games. 2021 4th rounder Cooper Bowman has an OPS of .925 across two levels with 3HR and 8 doubles in 17 games. 2021 5th rounder Tyler Hardman has an OPS of .851 across two levels with 2 bombs in 16 games 20 yr old Anthony Garcia made his long season debut on Sunday. He had a 1.156OPS in rookie ball this year. In his first two games, he has already homered and walked 3 times. He is a mammoth switch hitter with top of the charts power Jasson Dominguez has held his own in A ball as an 18 yr old, but hasnt taken off as hoped. Will likely see high A ball next year, but they are content taking it slow High A 2019 3rd rounder Jake Sanford has quietly been really good. 12 HRs, OPS over .800. Consistent numbers between A and A+ ball around his promotion. Ceiling likely not too high, although when drafted he had a plus power rating. Austin Wells dominated A ball then came up to High A and was lighting it up. Unfortunately he has been in a couple weeks long slump that dropped his High A OPS under .700. On the whole, a successful 2021 and surprising speed (12HR and 12 SB) AA Oswald Peraza has put up a solid season for a guy known for his slick glove. 13HR's 31 SB's .828 OPS across two levels as a 21 yr old. He is the Yanks #3 prospect for a reason and now not farm from the bigs Oswaldo Cabrera has shown a surprising mix of power and speed for a guy also known for his glove work. 17HR, 12SB. .779 OPS mostly weighted by his SLG as he just does not walk. He is a switch hitter who turned 22 at the outset of the season Josh Breaux was the 1st round supp pick right after bust Anthony Seigler. Known for his bat more for his glove, he hasn't disappointed. He is likely to be a Schwarber type when he hits the bigs. 2nd string catcher, DH, 1B type, but he can mash. 21 HR in 80 games to this point. .821OPS across 2 levels, but has a clear aversion to walking. Will need to improve his eye to be useful as a starter to someone

I actually think Durran will be traded this offseason. He doesn't look the part. Loopy swing, some pop but they screwed up his swing. With his speed, he should be a Brett Gardner type. Steal tons of bases, hard contact over long fly balls, probably better as a COF defensively. But they turned him into a HR hitter, which doesn't utilize his skill set to it's fullest.

The dumbest thing the sox did was moving Kike off his best defensive position and move him to one of his worst. He is an excellent defensive CFer. That is a premium defensive position. All the metrics back him up. If I was Cora, he would never need his IF glove again. He hits well, he runs well and he plays a premium D position very well

There's a difference between hitting upper 90s and sitting there. Sale used to sit there. Before he blew out his elbow, he started sitting low 90s and when he got into the high 90s on occasion, he wouldn't be able to locate. We shall see what he does against a good offense. The Twins lost their best hitter in a trade and their other best hitter to injury. They are a three deep lineup. Also, Sale is averaging almost the exact same velocity on his fastball as he was when he went down with injury. Still a full 1.6mph down from his peak
