  1. FYI, we lost Voit for the season and it sounds like DJ is done as well. DJ should just get the surgery and come back for next year. He has had this "groin issue" since spring training which hurts him when he hits. I cannot imagine how he played through the entire season with this. I expect a big rebound from him next year. Voit, IMO, needs to be traded or non-tendered. I am telling you right now, he is dealing with a Pedroia knee. Meniscus surgery then bone bruise then aggravates running? He has some arthritis in there and best to cut bat rather than hope for great things and watch him get hurt
  2. Yanks are gonna be on the attack early with their bashers and if Eovaldi weathers the early storm, they’ll start grinding ABs. Eovaldi going 5 is gonna be more like it. My bigger concern for the Yanks is that Cole has been limited since his injury and I don’t want Boone to think Cole is some rock solid ace who cannot be touched. I’d have a guy stretching from the opening pitch and if vintage Cole shows up, bonus
  3. I agree. I also think we need to keep Velasquez as a defensive replacement and just hand SS to Wade. Every time that guy is in the game, he impacts it. Be it as a punch runner, defender, hitter, whatever. He’s so disruptive.
  4. Nothing surprises me about Boone anymore. He’s made some bone headed blunders. Yesterday was the first game where I thought his managing was really, really good. Like first game since he started.
  5. Boone is on a World Series or bust run at this point. If he doesn’t make the WS, he’s done. If he manages like he did yesterday, he will maximize his chances of being retained. Yanks have a deep pen full of hard throwing guys capable of going multiple innings. If he treats every starter as a three inning pitcher who will be on a tight leash inning four or later, he will have a good chance of winning not only Tuesday but of taking on Tampa and beating the winner of Houston and Chicago. Do I think Boone will blow it along the way? Yes. But yesterday proved he can manage for the now, which I’ve honestly never seen before from him
  6. Have to give it to Boone. Today, he managed like he wanted to win the game. The Yankee staff has been special this year and the arms in the pen have been transcendent. You don’t marry yourself to a single pitcher. You play for the now. Today 6 pitchers combined on a 5 hit shutout. Boone took a page from Cash. Might be time for him to do that for the rest of the playoffs. It might save his job
  7. They’re dumbasses. It’s not like the Sox benefitted from an easy division or anything, lol.
  8. There’s no other candidate even close.
  9. Might be at the game too. Love it
  10. That’s how you do it!!!!
  11. Boone keeps making mistakes when the chips are down.
  12. Down 1 with the heart of your order coming up. You need to win 1 game to lock down a WC spot and you punt that game. Chapman was warming. Luetge was warming. Yet you went with the kid who’s been streaky and currently on a down skid. It’s not excuseable
  13. Yanks spiral is linked directly to Boone f***ing up in game 1. This team keeps having to pick up the pieces for their manager.
  14. Thought Sox would cave after the O’s series. Cora rallied them again. Dude is a miracle worker
  15. Taillon is starting. It’ll be a 2-3 inning start then a BP game. We are facing Michael Wacha and his 5+ ERA for a team that’s got nothing to play for.
  16. Taillon tomorrow. He has a surgical problem in his ankle but can likely give us a couple innings. Far smarter than pushing Cole
  17. The funny thing is, with this pen, we should be able to stand up to most good teams. We just have a dodo calling the shots who is afraid to use them
  18. LAD without Bauer and Kershaw is not as scary for sure.
  19. I cannot understand the idea of bringing in King today. Just don’t understand it. I’d rather we put in a f***ing position player.
  20. You could see Monty was sucking from the first inning. In a must win game, you have the pen ready. Once he put two runners on, you can’t let him face Lowe again. Sterling was skewering Boone for not having someone ready before the HR
  21. Baz is a really good picture and a top prospects. He is likely to be an ace going forward. There is no shame in getting shut down by him. There is shame in allowing your starter to get destroyed in a near must win game
  22. With this game likely to be a wash for the Yanks, you need to entirely forget about boston. If Seattle and Toronto lose this evening, you throw Gil tomorrow and save up your team for the wildcard game. If it is in Boston, so be it. Location doesn’t matter as much. But if Seattle and Toronto both win this evening, you need to be smart about the situation. Gerrit Cole has not been very good since he hurt his hamstring. Bringing him back on three days rest in a non-must win game is stupid. If the Yankees lose today and tomorrow and everyone else wins, the Yankees will be in a three-way tie for the final spot and will actually get to play on. What I would rather see, is the Yankees utilize a bullpen game starting tomorrow with Luis Severino starting. After that, go to Michael King, Clay Holmes, Jonathan Loaisiga, Chad green and roll from there. This way we utilize the strength of the team. Going up against Michael Wacha increases our chances of coming out with the wind. That would also save Gerrit Cole for a full rest for the wildcard game. What dumb dumb will likely do is pitch Cole on short rest tomorrow and put us in a position to have to deplete our bullpen resources to try to win. If unsuccessful, we will be in a playing game on Monday with a tired bullpen and no Gerrit Cole.
  23. Cashman upgraded the team and the talent on the field should be sufficient to win. The problem we have right now, is that our manager has no idea how to play for a single game. He continually plays for the long game even when the season comes down to a game or two. Yesterday was case in point. You were down by one run with a heart of the order coming up in the next inning. You had two runners on with two outs and you had a rookie with an ERA over five on the mound instead of your reliable left-handed reliever who has an ERA under three. Today, Jordan Montgomery had absolutely nothing. It was a parent from the beginning. If you are playing to win this game, you pull him as soon as he is in trouble again in the third inning. It was rather clear with a lead off single and then a walk, that he should’ve been out. Unfortunately, Aaron Boone had no one warming because he is a moron. By the time we finally replaced Montgomery, the game was out of hand. Boone continually manages this team with the intention that there is always tomorrow. That is no longer guaranteed.
  24. John Sterling is absolutely crushing Aaron Boone right now on the radio feed. He is essentially saying that this is a must win game, yet they are playing it like it is a middle of the season regular season game. Jordan Montgomery does not have it today, and the fact that nobody is ready in the bullpen right now is in absolute joke. This manager does not know how to manage to win a game.
