  1. I am not sure what they are waiting for with Salty. Yes, he has power. He also cannot hit for average, K's ridiculously, and doesnt walk enough. He has a good OPS for a catcher, but it is all SLG driven. He's crappy in the clutch and effectively an auto out if pitched correctly. He is absolutely abysmal behind the dish. He receives poorly, calls a bad game, cannot block balls and doesnt throw well. The only thing he can do better than a below average catcher is hit a homer or a double. That's it. I dont get why they are leaving a kid like Lavs in the minors for this guy. This isnt like Montero and Martin where at least Martin gave phenomenal defense. This is a guy who is clearly worse or equal in all aspects of the game who is still starting at the big league level
  2. he got hurt in the second inning
  3. His passed ball got Cook hurt. He misplayed a "wild pitch" that should have been blocked in front and then he dropped a pop up that he should have had the gusto to let the 3b take.
  4. In an athlete and not a fat ass, there isnt much below the skin in that area. Small layer of fat under the skin then a fascial plane until you hit the patellar tendon. So it will look worse than it is. Regardless, it will restrict his motion and hence should have taken him out of the game
  5. He looked okay his first 2IP. After the inning where he left with the knee lac, he never should have returned.
  6. The medical staff never should have let Cook stay in. He needed stitches, the wound was above the knee and hence would restrict movement and it would only swell and tighten up over the next 30 mins to an hour. The stitches he will require wont be taken out for 2 weeks, so he might end up on the DL
  7. AdGon at 1st and Beltre at 3rd would be pretty enticing, no? GG corner IF defense with a 3-4 in the lineup
  8. Your offense and our offense should get together and try and put a good lineup together. f***in A Ellsbury Crawford Youkilis Gardner Swisher That's be a good 1-5 in any order
  9. Joba and Pineda prior to the season. Mariano a month in. Gardner out for 3 weeks in season. This is a lot more than most teams have by May 5th
  10. Been a month, he's accelerating instead of declining. No point in keeping him there
  11. Things will still be okay. Our pen is still solid, it just loses the lynchpin of it. Pitching, especially in the pen, is where we can absorb some damage, and we have. With Joba and Mo out, you have 2 top notch relievers on the shelf (although that may be the last time I ever lump Joba in with Mo). I continue to be worried about the offense. Tex has broken out over the last few games, but he still looks like a pull happy all or nothing hitter, which isnt what we signed on for. ARod is starting to get his act together, but his power seems down after his topsy turvy year last yr. And Cano is just off mechanically. Losing Gardner and Swish right now has been the killer and something we need to recover from quickly. I still maintain that our biggest deadline acquisition will be a hitter
  12. It's his elbow, headed for an MRI. What a f***ing disaster of a trade if both guys miss the season with arm surgeries
  13. He will try to come back. Hopefully he does.
  14. Yaz, this is the end of Mo Rivera, period, IMO. I think he rehabs to try and get back this yr, fails to do it, and retires at season's end
  15. Our closer in college tore his ACL in his right knee. He was right handed and returned in 4 months. He was a stretch only thrower and his stuff didn't suffer. Problem was, he couldn't do a lot of fielding so teams bunted on him a fair amount. I doubt Mo could do it, but he said he's gonna try to get back this season. That tells me this is definitely his last yr.
  16. Just got home from work. Devastated...
  17. It is weird that he knew 2 weeks in advance when he'd be better. Pneumonia usually either keeps you hospitalized/worsens or you get better within a few days to a week. He left a message on April 30th that he'd be back on May 15th. Makes me wonder. Regardless, we should all respect his privacy and if he has something, he'll tell us in due time
  18. My family has been hit by depression and suicide more than most. Depression is a serious and treatable disease. Not seeking help and killing yourself when nobody is dependent on you is your decision. It's still a selfish decision, but it is your decision. Ending your life with 3 kids dependent upon you is selfish. He "ended" his pain but created 3 lifelong pains that will never go away. I dont feel bad for him, I am mad at him.
  19. Not sure bout that. We do have swisher in rf, so defense obviously isn't a priority there
  20. It's called major depression. I understand it well, although cannot ever sympathize with anyone who intentionally takes their life, especially those leaving children. It's the "easy way out", and the most selfish way to go. Now his kids get to deal with the aftermath.
  21. I dont feel sorry for him and won't offer RIP or anything like that. Just hope his kids can grow up well adjusted without their dad, who didnt want to be around for them. Douchebag
  22. This version of Tex is better than only a few 1bs. It's amazing how a guy who hits for massive power and average can go into a shell over a shift. The funny thing was, he used to be able to hit the ball the other way with power. Teams started employing the shift, and now he pulls absolutely everything into the shift. Now, he doesnt even walk. I am at a loss for what has happened to him
  23. Cuban defector, OF, was initially supposed to sign for $15 mil or so. Exposed a little in the winter leagues as a poor defender. Advanced bat, poor defense, sounds EXACTLY what we need due to our dearth of offense out of our DH spot. Hopefully he'll be big league ready by July or so, because we need some hitters badly
