  1. So.... this Middlebrooks kid can mash. He doesnt have Youkilis' patience, but he has all of Youk's power. And while Youk is an awesome fielding 1b, he's an average to below average 3b. Middlebrooks will likely be sent down once Youk comes back, but I think this kid has made as good of a case to stick around as anyone. My guess is Youkilis comes back, they option Middlebrooks, Youk builds up his value and gets dealt in a deadline deal for a starter
  2. Byrd cost you two runs and McDonald is awful.
  3. sox take 2 of 3, go on a 7-3 tear then drop 7 of 10
  4. They are really hoping not to miss on any of their pitching prospects, because their best prospects (Ranaudo and Barnes) are so far and away better than the rest that they better not miss or run into a significant problem on the development side.
  5. We have had good luck aside from 2008 when we lost Wang, Matsui, and Posada
  6. He lacks the fire he had prior to his injury. I am wondering if that fracture made him a little gunshy. It might be in the back of his head that if he goes all out that he could break his back again. He's gonna need some cream puff time to get his confidence back
  7. Hughes got back on track yesterday. Never should have been out there for the 7th inning, but so be it. Last 2 starts, the line has been good... 12.1IP 10H 7ER 13K 2BB- WHIP under 1 in those 2 games, with an ERA of 5.12. The peripherals are starting to trend upward. We might be turning a corner...
  8. BTW, this line looks AWESOME right, I mean anyone with this line would be paid at ARod level money .343/.428/.613 for an OPS of 1.041.... That is what the average hitter is doing off Buchholz. Time to DL him
  9. Cherington isnt the problem. This team is run by Lucchino and he effectively is the GM with Cherington as the buffer. The problems start there and permeate through. They had the opportunity to move Beckett in the off-season if he is truly the root of the problem since he was coming off a dominant season and is signed rather cheaply for ace pay. They didnt have much room with Youkilis since he was injured most of the yr, put up a horrible season and finished the yr on the OR table. In the end, the sox dont have much money coming off the books next yr. The only big contract that will come off is Ortiz, and the way he is hitting, you might not want his bat to go elsewhere. The sox need what every team needs right now, and that is starting pitching and bullpen. Thing is, with the extra wild card, sellers will be fewer and further between and the prices will be higher. Also, Buchholz needs to be demoted. I said it last week and you guys thought I was crazy. He made his hay with a 94mph fastball on average. His location has never been pinpoint, but with his movement he was able to generate weak hacks and keep the ball on the ground. Well, teams are teeing off on hin, which has caused him to nibble and walk guys. Now, he is all messed up. They need to DL him, call it shoulder weakness, have him throw in rehab games and then promote him when his heat is back. Otherwise, he is a waste
  10. The Yankees and Rays will still be at the top of the division at the end of the yr. The question is whether the sox will join them.
  11. Hamels' FIP the last 2 yrs has been WAYYYYYY better than Lester's. Not even close
  12. The Yankees offered Montero, Banuelos and Betances for Felix. They said no. You arent getting Felix, nobody is
  13. What non-hedge funder can afford a baseball team? I would bet every owner in baseball is invested in a hedge fund
  14. Nope, he was never the ace of a staff, nope. OR, he was the ace of the staff of the team that won the f***ing world series in 2008. Jesus Christ
  15. No, he wouldnt. Lester's career numbers are much worse and his last 2+ seasons are WAY worse than Hamels'. Hamels' K numbers are better, his BB numbers are better and his WHIP is around 1.1 in that time. The guy has been the balls. Adjust for the AL East and the guy would still dominate.
  16. He couldnt locate and got knocked out prior to the 5th. That's how life is in the AL Hiroki. Bring your A game or get rocked!
  17. Felipe Paulino is shutting down the Yankees. Felipe f***ing Paulino. This offense needs an injection of Winstrol.
  18. Hamels career- 1193.2IP 1063H 448ER 1127K 297BB 3.38ERA 1.14WHIP 8.5K/9IP 3.8K/BB. Yeah, he'd be 2C in your rotation, lol. His last 2+ seasons have been elite and his career numbers have been awesome. He'd be your ace immediately
  19. So you want to send an injured and punchless Youkilis and a guy in Buchholz who has sucked in his return from a spinal fracture for a lockdown lefty specialist and one of the best pitchers in the game? That +1 better be a plus 3.
  20. Iglesias isn't giving offense at AAA. He may hit .150 in the bigs. If you try to groom the bat, you might turn him into a below average hitter. As is, he is an abortion at the plate
  21. Beckett is still feeling it apparently. My guess is he will end up on the DL
