  1. nice retort. Hughes could be said to be in a similar wait and see boat as Bard since Hughes is coming off injury and had a lot of success as a reliever. Both are young and both had something to prove in the rotation
  2. Then you'll starve
  3. tell me where I said anything different about the bolded section. I said he was a replacement level guy or below. Nothing more
  4. It's not a schtick my friend, it is just trying to ground our friend Dojji. And if being a modicum of levity is a schtick, well then maybe I do have one.
  5. Yes, Gardner has prevented more runs than any outfielder in baseball over the last 2 yrs. He has Nava's eye while also having 50SB potential. Apples meet oranges
  6. I highly doubt that is coming
  7. What it says about you is that you will spout off and not back it up. I certainly didnt expect you to back it up and you didnt. You have met my expectations of not standing by your word. It just shows you have some maturing to do. BTW, any ******** bets you want to throw out there for the red sox this season?
  8. Dojji, blinders need to come off. Have you watched any of his starts? What have you seen? Maybe I can give you a recap.... If you move a power reliever into a starters role, you would expect to see some power numbers and some power stuff. You arent seeing any of that. You are seeing a guy who is striking out about 3 per 9 in his past month. You are seeing a guy who is walking nearly 6 per 9 in his last month. You are seeing a guy who is supposed to be throwing mid to high 90s who is sitting low 90s. You are supposed to see a power slider, when he isnt throwing it. You should see a difference between change and heater, when in reality, they are thrown at the same speed. For f***s sake Dojji, stop being a shill and please tell me what you are seeing. For the Bard experiment to be considered a work in progress, I would have expected a 4.5 or higher ERA, a high walk rate, BUT a high K rate with good velocity. Those last 2 parts are critical. Bard is throwing like a #5 starter and is showing #5 starter stuff. That wasnt the expectation
  9. We'll see if you are saying that by the end of the yr. Plus, Nix would never be in the convo since he is an infielder. Jones is an adequate 4th OFer since he brings power and a huge platoon split. He OPS'd over .800 last yr in that role and hit with power while giving our lefty outfielders a break vs lefty pitchers.
  10. David Dejesus has above average speed, can play CF, and plays solid above average defense all over the OF.
  11. Dojji, Nava has hit a max of 10HRs in the minors. This isnt a 22 yr old kid growing into his body, this is a 29 yr old AAAA player who has shown that is his ceiling. 10HR power sucks as a corner OFer, that is below average power. a700 is right, the only plus skill the guy has is his eye, and once his bat cools off a bit, he will have to use it to stay relevant, because nobody will ever pitch around Daniel Nava
  12. nobody expects you to, but by throwing it out there and then recanting it, it shows that you cannot put your money where your mouth is. I am sure that if your friend wins this bet, you'll reneg on that one too
  13. Steinny has denied he is selling the Yankees. Also, I highly, highly, highly, doubt Nava continues to bash the pitching in the bigs.
  14. That would be incredibly interesting news. I would LOVE it if Mark Cuban bought the club
  15. UN, you do know that pointing to your pen as a strength and then pointing to Lester and Beckett as sure to turn it around seems a bit less realistic, right? I think the more realistic option is that the pen will regress and Lester and Beckett will get on track. Do you agree?
  16. Brennan, welcome to the site, lol. I do comment on Yankee boards too.
  17. Byrd in CF and AdGon in RF. Wow, that is an incredibly horrible outfield
  18. Pumpsie, ERA is not something entirely under the control of the pitcher, hence it fluctuates from year to year and is NOT a strong indicator of pitcher's performance. If that were the case, Aaron Small and Shawn Chacon should have been in the running for Cy Young in 2005
  19. we'll be out of the cellar for at least one night. For the first time in a long, long time, I am feeling pretty pessimistic about my team and about the chances that the sox or the yanks make the playoffs. There is definitely a strong chance that the Yanks and Sox are on the outside looking in, and that would be a weird experience
