  1. Final line on Tracy, 5IP 3H 0ER 1BB 4K. Great first start of the yr for Tracy. This kid has the stuff and the command to be something special if he can continue to hone his craft
  2. Good to see the Mariners bringing their A game. Just another example that soft tossing lefties not named Andy Pettitte should never pitch in the sox bandbox
  3. I dont care if Hammel is off to a good start, the guy is a career swing pitcher who has dominated us once already. Cut the s*** and hit the piss out of this guy.
  4. You guys are hypocrites. Last yr, I believe CC had a no no going and every post in the yankee thread was trying to jinx it. Let's be real here.
  5. you need new material man. That's been the running joke since 06
  6. Bring the BANHAMMER!!!
  7. Nova just got drilled on the ankle. He says he is okay, but he is gonna be sore. That hurt, a lot, I guarantee
  8. you really think I want Lester to no-hit anyone? I hope he gets crushed every pitch he throws
  9. Lester would be dominating anyone tonight. He is locating to that outside edge. Nobody will hit him when he is locating there. And the no-no is gone
  10. Matt Tracy missed the entire start to the yr with a groin injury. The lefty has started his long season career off nicely tonight with 4 shutout innings, allowing only 2 hits and a walk while K'ing 4. He was a huge surprise last yr, routinely locating low to mid 90s stuff from the left side
  11. no hit stuff tonight for Lester
  12. Lester's troubles have been mostly due to his inability to hit the outside and low corner against righties or the down and in corner vs lefties. When he was ace level, he painted that corner. If he regains that, he will regain his status
  13. Soooo, Nova has nothing tonight. A guy who lives off a good sinker down in the zone cannot survive leaving the pitches up in the zone. Looks like Phelps is gonna get some time today
  14. Are you f***ing kidding me with this thread? He's had 10 at bats. A couple yrs ago, he hit a granny in his first game. He dominated for about 3 weeks then sucked hard from there on out. They DFAd him because he sucked so bad and found a way to come to the bigs after the entire OF was on the DL. He comes back up, pitchers havent learned him and he is hitting again. Once pitchers see him again, he will get dominated. He is a AAAA player at best and a minor league flop at worst. He's not a good enough hitter to crack a starting lineup and he doesnt play good enough D to be a 4th OFer. He's crap
  15. If Lester can continue to hit that down and out corner vs righties, he will dominate tonight
  16. Also, what is the impetus for the Mets to move Johan? He's signed only through next yr and after missing an entire season, he's come back pretty well, albeit with innings limits. Also, why would the Red Sox want to take on Johan's salary when they want to get under the cap for next yr? And where does Youkilis play? David Wright is at 3b and Ike Davis will eventually be at 1b. Makes no sense for anyone involved
  17. 27 yr olds in the minors are not prospects. They are AAAA players
  18. Abraham Almonte is looking good again. .289/.364/.430 as a starting CFer. He's not a power guy, but 4HR thus far is pretty nice, as is his 14 steals. Another guy playing great of late is Angelo Gumbs. He started off the yr horribly, but his slash line now looks okay at .270/.338/.383. His last 10 games have been otherworldly, though. .364BA with 14 steals in that time. He has 19 in all with only 1CS. For a 19 yr old in long season, he is surely playing well, hope he keeps it up
  19. fatigue. Starters arms are much more fatigued than pen arms, especially since pen guys can just "not be available" for a night when they are tired. Starters take the bump every 5th day, fatigue or no.
  20. What prospect? The sox have a massive dropoff from their top tier guys to their C level prospects. If you are giving up a Barnes, Ranaudo, or Bogaerts then you're talking. If you arent, then you aint gonna get a bite
  21. Youkilis already is bankrupted as a commodity elk. You deal him now and you will need to eat the whole nut. If he comes back and continues to hit .220 with no power, then guess what, he is just as worthless as he is now. If he comes back and hits .280 with 10 HRs and a .360OBP between now and July 31st, then he is prime trade bait and could come at a premium. And the Thornton trade is ridiculous. Makes no sense for the White Sox to take on the entire salary committment of Thornton in a single yr, especially when Thornton could be dealt at the deadline with another team assuming the whole contract. If the White Sox wanted to get out from under Thornton's deal and made him available today, about 20 teams would make a bid on him with 10 of them wanting no money from the White Sox in return. And, the White Sox have made it known that they are trying to rebuild/retool. How does a broken down 33 yr old out of position 3b who is currently injured ascertain said goal? It doesnt, take that idea, douse it in lighter fluid, then shoot it with a flare gun
  22. That was 90 years ago. Also, Youkilis is unmoveable as is. He must rebuild his value, and he cannot do that by sitting.
