  1. Papelburned. That's gotta sting a little
  2. close call. It was the right time for V to pop his sox cherry
  3. 2 jacks late and an absolutely awesome start from Pettitte. He had everything working and was dominant from start to finish. He's making quite a case to be the #2
  4. he's unmoveable. You keep him until either he gets sick of you or he shows no capacity for reclamation
  5. this team sucks a giant donkey dick with runners on base. Everyone tries to jack the ball. f***!
  6. It wont count to the tax number unless the sox pick up the option early, I dont believe.
  7. As a Yankee fan, it would make me so happy for him to suck. But as a baseball fan, you really have to see how he comes back in 2013 before you judge. He's had chronic elbow issues since he left Anaheim. Now that his elbow should be structurally sound, you may see his stuff rebound. You may also find out that he is the same 89mph pusballer he was when he left. Who knows?
  8. I would absolutely take Lackey in 2015 on a big league minimum deal. If he sucks, you cut him for nothing. If he is good, then he solidifies the back end of the rotation
  9. No, it won't. But it allows you to recoup this season at league minimum value in 2015
  10. not true. He added language that added a big league minimum option to the end of the deal. If Lackey comes back to his previous level of performance after his surgery, then he will be had at a steal for 2015
  11. He went out and got Lackey and DiceK, so it isnt like he didnt value pitching. He just decided to go second tier when filling it instead of loading up on durable aces, which are few and far between.
  12. your backup must have a good skill. He cannot be a no bat, no glove player. First batter of the game K's, the catcher drops the ball that should have hit him in the chest then he proceeds to fire the ball in the stands. Just a bad, bad play. Good thing Pettitte is vintage tonight and he recovered
  13. For a one yr problem, it is the way big money teams win. But on a long term deal, it doesnt make sense.
  14. You obviously cannot read. I said most pitchers come back within 12 months, but the recovery for a starter's stamina and stuff to return is 18 months. I said he will not be the previous DiceK until September, and with his minor league stats thus far, I am right to this point. I also said that relievers usually can return to dominance faster since they dont have to throw multiple innings.
  15. guys, stop using ERA. Here is the deal here. Bard as a reliever is a dominant force to be reckoned with. Bard in the rotation is a guy with reduced power and no stamina. A guy throwing 98 doesnt have to be as fine. A guy throwing 92 does. I think the Bard project would have been considered a success had he shown continued power (ie high K/9IP) even in the setting of poor command. The low K's and the progressively lower velocity makes me think this isnt going to end well. Most people on here thought Bard would be a guy throwing mid 90s with a knockout slider. Well, he's throwing low 90s with a loopy slurve type slider. His stuff and command have taken a hit and his production has suffered. I think it might be time for him to move back to the role he dominated in.
  16. Boo the ever living s*** out of this pathetic f***ing team. Swisher cannot hit a f***ing flyball with ARod on third and one out. Of course he K's, what else will he do. This f***ing team needs to take a serious shot of Winstrol, every f***ing one of them
  17. 1.54WHIP thus far with 23K and 20BB in 37.2IP. He's lost power and control out of the rotation and has allowed over 3 baserunners every 2 innings. Now, obviously, there are a lot of pitchers on my favorite team with worse stats, but Bard is under the microscope since he is making a switch. And his early results have been decidedly below average. And that inning didnt help
  18. really? LOLOLOL. You're an idiot.
  19. bitch tits needs to get on the roids again. He crushed a ball to the warning track
  20. he's been below average this whole season.
  21. Also, mastery of a cutter effectively gives you mastery over hitters for a longer period of time. If you can locate a good cutter regularly, you effectively give life to your fastball even as you age. Pettitte and Rivera are the biggest examples of that. Rivera still throws a low 90s cutter with monster movement. Pettitte throws a mid 80s cutter with good movement, but he uses it to highlight his upper 80s fastball and makes it look a lot harder. It is a method to prolong your career, but it shouldnt be the first thing 25 yr olds are learning at the big league level. They should learn it when they are 33 and start losing velocity. By that point, they will have mastered their deliveries and can learn the pitch without having to fight their mechanics
