  1. just got back from work, you gotta be s***ing me. A 5 run lead given up in 1 inning?
  2. Daniel Bard, in the minors. The problem was, at the time, he was a hungry kid who they tweaked and changed into a lights out pen arm. Now, they seem to just be throwing him out there to the wolves. It's time to give him a mental break.
  3. 3 games out of a playoff spot right now. If the Yankees take 2, 3 or 4, there is a strong chance they'll be 5 or more out
  4. I'm a Yankee fan, but I am not a New Yorker.
  5. They didnt say what the injury was to, just that it wasnt to the adductor muscle. Could be the ulnar collateral ligament, which would be a problem
  6. If the sox hope for a chance at the AL East, they have to win the series. They're down 8 games and they just lost their team leader. A series loss here would be devastating for the sox and would likely put them into sell mode at the break
  7. I have a feeling he is wearing a different uniform in 3 weeks
  8. Really? This is what you are going with? Papi is a cheat. So is ARod, so is Manny, so is Pettitte. To defend him in this arena is ludicrous. That being said, I dont give a flying f*** what he is taking. If someone said I could be paid $14 million for next season if I could jack 30 bombs into the seats, I'd be roiding my balls off, literally. Papi is paving his road out of town with this s***. He is a great player who is having an all star season, but his attitude is one of me first and then the team and when a team is struggling, those types can take a team down. On the field, he's always been good, but off the field, his s*** might be part of the toxic culture in the clubhouse. I have a feeling Ortiz wants out and this is one way to make it so. If the sox scuffle over the next 2 weeks and fall far back in the WC race and hopelessly out of the AL East, I wonder who will get the big roider? He'd easily be the best bat on the market
  9. Then nobody impresses you. The Yankees are a little vulnerable right now since CC and Pettitte are out, but this weekend will be the last series sans CC. Otherwise, they allow less runs and score close to as many as the sox while having much better peripherals on both sides of the ball. The Yankees are a team that is about to run away with the division, so while you arent impressed, they are the far superior team right now to the sox
  10. Bradley's limited power potential makes him a 4 tool guy and hurts him in scouting ratings. But it shouldnt deter the sox from advancing him.
  11. Lackey had the warning signs that a few posters actually pointed out. Dropping FB velocity, dropping K rate, low BABIP and a poor record vs the AL East. He was due to correct. I think that correction was to the 2010 level of Lackey, not the 2011 suckfest/injury plagued yr he had. I think Lackey will come back and be serviceable, but he's being paid at ace level. That's the problem on the sox side is that guys are being paid at ace and mvp levels and producing like mediocre players or less. The Yankees have that as well, although to a little bit of a better level. All it takes is for these players to play to another level, not to their career norms, but to a little better than what they are doing to become successful again.
  12. An angry fan base is a passionate one and one you wil still make money off of. An apathetic fan base is a revenue killer. A few more years of missing the playoffs, and the fans will start to sink back into the apathy/inferiority thought process
  13. I'd do the inferiority complex and how it has changed to an entitlement complex after 04 and 07
  14. Every time I try to post, I get a forbidden display. Now it is just when I cut and paste a line about the O's
  15. So the Yankees havent confirmed it, but my guess is as follows.. 7/6- Kuroda vs Beckett 7/7- Hughes vs Morales 7/7- Garcia vs Doubront 7/8- Nova vs Lester I think we have a pretty good shot at winning the series, and if the sox lose 3 or 4, then they are pretty much done with the division. Time to step on the throats Yankees!
  16. 3.2IP, 6H, 6ER on July 3rd. Might be time to phantom DL him and get his arm back in working condition
  17. To win a game started by Phelps and Price is pretty good. Phelps gave us a good outing for not being stretched out. We'll see if he keeps getting shots after the ASB. He definitely gives us a better shot than Garcia.
  18. Our team has played such s***** ball thus far in this series. We should be up 5-2 instead of down 5-4. We also should have won yesterday. This is getting f***ing annoying
  19. our third base coach sucks balls
  20. Ranaudo was an afterthought this yr with Barnes storming the minors. But he had a groin injury that cost him 2 months. But since coming back, he has been Daniel Bard level of awful. 8GS 1-2 6.69ERA 37.2IP 41H 27BB 27K.
  21. Martin choked the f***ing game away already. Up 3-0 with the Yankees having Shields on the ropes, he gets a throw that short hops him, but he handles, then drops as he applies the tap on the runner at the plate. That opened the floodgates and led to a 3-3 tie. We have scored another run since then, but that error took us from having a pretty cushy lead to having to bite the nails. And in the Trop, nailbiters almost always end in Ray wins
