Chen, Patton (before shoulder surgery), Britton, Logan, Sabathia, Pettitte (younger days), Miller, Lester, Morales, Price, Moore, McGee, Ramos, Romero (before he lost his s***). That's just in the AL East. Lefties who sit around 91 aren't rare. Those who can sit 93-95 are.

I don't even think its the now velocity they are looking at. He sits low 90s with the capability to touch 94-95. There are a lot of lefties who can do that. I watched his scouting vids, the kid's mechanics need revamping. Add that into the fact that he needs to grow into his gigantic frame and you have a kid who will probably be sitting mid 90s and touch high 90s if they develop him right. That kind of talent from the left side is very rare.

Just read an interview with the guy making the choices for the Yankees in the draft. They see him as a guy who could play SS, who's gotten bigger (he's 6'2") and has shown a lot of power in HS, but was drafted this high due to 70 speed. I hope they're right, cause with the guys who were left on the board at that spot, they better not f*** this up. Denney is going to be a serious talent and we passed on him completely

I'm surprised they went with Ball. He's a project, albeit one with an immense ceiling. Huge frame, good fastball already and a good curve. But his mechanics need to be broken down completely and he needs to grow into his body. Austin Meadows was the best on the board when they picked, IMO. For a franchise that hasn't picked in the top 10 in a decade plus, they didn't get the kind of immediate return player you expect at that level. Stankiewicz is along the same lines. Big body, good FB but he's all projection at this point. I am wondering if the sox feel that they're so loaded at the top in the pitching dept that they're going with long range talent

From one of the draft experts on the Yankee side, he was saying he projected as a 5th-10th round pick and hence was a signability guy. Taken in the 2nd round, he should sign under slot and save some money to be thrown at Clarkin

Maybe they should punt and get a real pick next yr. f***, this kid sounds awful. He can pick it, his arm sucks, so he is stuck at 2b. He makes good contact but has no power at all. Maybe they thought they were getting Ichiro because he models his swing after him. Earth to Newman and Oppenheimer, he isn't Ichiro! This guy sounds like he has a ceiling of Munenori Kawasaki. I'm tittilated with excitement.

That he would. We need power. We have Bird, O'Brien, Sanchez and Austin who profile as big league power hitters. The rest are speedy gap power guys. Adding Judge and Jagielo helps. Adding a long term prospect like Denney would be awesome
