  1. He needed this 6 weeks ago. I'm glad he is having this done. If this procedure doesn't work, then his career is over. At least the Yanks can collect insurance on his ass.
  2. Selig imposed the IFA restrictions with a CBA in place. I was reading the Yankees director of scouting's interview on scout.com, and he outright said that the impetus for this move was because they think an INTL draft will be imposed either in 2015 or 2016.
  3. He's in AAA. Tanaka breaks his string of QS's with his 7IP 4ER performance last night, but he won nonetheless
  4. Pal, this is likely the last yr anyone can do this. Selig is trying to impose an INTL draft.
  5. Here's an update, and I am using the MLB.com listing for rankings... 1. Dermis Garcia- signed for $3.2 mil. He's a SS with a big frame, big raw power (65), and a big arm. He's getting comparisons with Twins top prospect Miguel Sano and a teenage ARod (before the roids). He could stay at SS or move to 3B 2. Nelson Gomez- signed for $2.25mil. He's a BIG 3b already (6-2, 219lbs). He's a 60-60 hitter/power guy who is the best pure hitters in this IFA period. He's raw defensively at 3b, and if he fills out more, he's probably a 1b 5. Juan Deleon- signed for $2mil. He's a 5 tool OFer with plus raw power and bat speed as well as good baserunning speed. He's "electric" per the report 7. Jonathan Amundaray- signed for $1.5 mil. 5 tool Venezuelan OFer who is being compared to a young Raul Mondesi. Plus hit tool, good raw power and a cannon for an arm. 9. Antonio Arias- signed for $1 mil. A projection selection, being compared to Cameron Maybin. Plus speed, 5 tool OFer who is really raw 13. Hyo-jun Park- signed for undisclosed amount- plus defensive SS with solid hit tool. "Might hit 10HRs" per mlbtr. Not much power to speak of. Should stick at SS 14. Wilkerman Garcia- signed for $1.35mil- solid defensive SS prospect who has a solid hit tool, but limited power. 25. Miguel Flames- signed for $1 mil- One of the top catcher in this signing period, Flames is big for a 16 yr old with power projection and good defensive tools. 29. Bryan Emery- likely to sign today for $2mil- Big 6'4" OFer with big power projection who is raw offensively. He's a top defender with solid speed and arm. He's another 5 tool guy They also signed a pitcher from the Dominican for $300K who I have no report on.
  6. Make that 9, they're signing Emery tomorrow
  7. They've signed 8 of the top 30 with 3 more in play
  8. They came into the yr rumored to have agreed to an insane amount of players on the INTL market. mlb.com had them being the frontrunners for 11 of the top 30 on their list. The penalty will be a 100% lux tax and no signings over $300K for the next 2 yrs. Thus far... The Yankees have signed: #2 prospect- 3B Nelson Gomez for $2.25 mil #16 prospect- Diego Castillo for $700K
  9. Don't worry, we already lost a series to the stinking pile from TB
  10. This team eerily reminds me of last year's incarnation. I have become almost ambivalent to this team, to be totally honest. Early in the yr, I'd plan my day around the games. Now, the only games I have to see provided work allows, are Tanaka starts.
  11. They'll increase their payroll. Simple as that. Kuroda and Jeter are off the books, ARod is back on the books. That's a financial wash. They go into the offseason with Tanaka, CC, Nova, and Pineda as your 4 entering the yr, knowing you wont get a fully ready Nova back until probably the ASB. You can fill that 5 hole with your depth that is starting now, but you need a #2 behind Tanaka. Scherzer or Lester fills that role
  12. The Yankees will sign a top flight pitcher this offseason. I will guarantee that. Whether it be Scherzer or Lester is irrelevant. One will be signed in NY
  13. So the Yankees are near the halfway point and I keep hearing about the trade rumors. We're interested in Headley, Samardzija, Hammel, etc. Here in lies the problem. We have too many holes to fill to win the title. I don't want to be giving away prospects for guys who are fill ins who may help us make a playoff berth. I want to bring in the final pieces of a title team, not sell the farm to bow out in the WC game. We need at least 2 starters. Yes, CC is on his way back. But he was absolutely abhorrent when he was in the rotation. Not sure how much of that was his current injury, but that is a chronic process, not something likely to go away entirely. So, although he is in the wings, he isn't too much to get excited about. We also have Pineda out there somewhere. He's been dominant in the 6 starts he made. But that's it. Who knows what we have in him and he cannot be counted on. Losing Nova was a big time blow in retrospect. So we'd need 2 starters. Then there is our offense. We thought we fixed the gaping hole in RF and DH with Beltran and Soriano coming in. Both have sucked. We thought that if we could get health from Roberts, he could be a good contributor. Well, he's sucked too. I thought McCann would make a big time power surge in the new YS. He's sucked dick offensively. 3b has seen Solarte come back to earth and Kelly Johnson suck ass also. Our offense has pretty much been predicated around Ells and Gardner with a smattering of Jeter thrown in there. Putrid. Yes, Headley would be an upgrade in theory, but he is a FA after 2014 and is dealing with a bulging disc that will need offseason surgery. Not to mention the fact that he would technically be a downgrade if he continued to post his anemic #s from SD. We need a #2, 4, and 5 in the rotation and a #3,4,5 hitter. Not too much to ask for, right?
  14. What Tanaka said after the game was that he wanted to throw the fastball out of the zone and then finish him with the splitter. He should have known that, with his release point failing him, he probably should have stuck with the split.
  15. Looks like the bloom is off the Whitley rose
  16. Lol, yep, he gave up good contact. 2ER in a CG. Lol. And a700, pitching to Napoli isn't his call. His dumbass manager should have made that call
  17. I would tower over him like a giant. He's a little man. I'd probably crush his skull. That being said, I wouldn't ever hit another man for a baseball decision. But I am pretty heated right now
  18. I want to punch Girardi in the face
  19. I am furious at how f***ing obvious the move was to either walk Nap or pull Tanaka.
  20. Jesus f***ing Christ. You have to be f***ing kidding me. Tanaka is showing how frustrated he is on the mound and you still let him face the sox best hitter. Drew was on deck. What the f*** are you doing?
  21. f***ing ******* dumbass manager. You KNEW IT. Tanaka KNEW IT. How the f*** do you let him face Nap
