  1. You can't trade Betts now. Don't care how deep you are, kid is a star. Same with Bogaerts.
  2. Gleyber Torres scratched from lineup with the Cubs High A team. He's #28 on the BA top 100. 19 yr old infielder with power and speed who is doing well in High A
  3. D, I'm talking about his average fastball. Price used to average 95
  4. D-money, he's down 1.4mph since last year and 2.8 off his peak. If you're young, you may not remember the days when CC was a fire baller, but he was
  5. Chad Green might end up in the mix in the pen for the rest of the year. He's been a dominant starter in the minors, but he just threw an inning where he's topping out at 99 and his slider is sick
  6. Price reminds me of CC in a lot of ways. First of all, Price has had a pretty significant velocity drop (1.4mph) but it represents a 2.8mph drop from his peak. CC had drops in velo from 2011 to 2012 without losing effectiveness. But once he dropped down to 91mph in 2013 (down 3.1mph off peak), he lost a ton of effectiveness. His peripherals took a slight drop, although not too far off career norms, but the HR rate exploded. From there, the velocity tanked due to injury in 2014 and have stabilized around 90mph since and he has had to learn how to be a pitcher and not a K machine. Price seems to be experiencing that drop. There is a ton of miles on his arm. He's dropping off his peak and his HR rate is up. CC is finally rounding into form as a back end rotation option once he pitched more to contact, added a cutter and basically became a crafty lefty. The HR rate is down as is the K rate. And the BABIP normalized. When CC was really struggling, he was giving up tons of bombs and had a huge BABIP. I don't really consider that luck related, just that he was getting lit up. Price might need to get a little more crafty to deal with the decline in his stuff
  7. We have one reliable starter, a suspect offense and a lights out bullpen that doesn't get enough leads to hold. It looks like we're looking at moving Chapman for Joe Ross. The Nats say they aren't moving Ross for a "rental" but they're a win now team that needs a lights out reliever. We've got Chicago, Cleveland and SF in the mix. That'd be the exact kind of move I'd love. Rebuilding on the fly with a young starter who is actually good.
  8. This big thing is, we won 4 in a row, yet gained nothing in any race. We're still 5 games out of a playoff spot! And we did that on the back of four dominant pitching performances. 3 runs in 4 starts is pretty solid. Our bats haven't really exploded in that time.
  9. I watched his pitch again and his motion. He violently stopped his arm rather than finish his follow through. That did it
  10. Lefty pus-balled moving to Fenway is usually a bad thing for the sox
  11. Espinoza looks pretty good right now, lol
  12. For the first time that I can remember, the Yankees are primed to be sellers at the deadline. Yes, they are 1 game over .500 and yes, they are "only" 5 games out from a playoff spot. But anyone who actually watches this team knows that this team is NOT a team that will win the world series. And if you are going to sell out to play 163 games instead of 162, then something is wrong. We lack offense. We also lack consistency beyond Tanaka in the rotation. We have some impact offensive talent in the minors or on the DL (Judge, Bird, Sanchez), but we could really make hay by parting with some relief pitching or an expiring contract (Beltran) and not really affecting our core. Also, we could strip things down to bare bones if we wanted to, but that isn't the Yankee way. To start, let's look at Chapman. We got him for Jagielo (who sucks right now in CIN) and Rookie Davis (who has become a sinkerballer and cant strike out anyone). Quite a steal. His suspension is over, and he is actually having the best command of his career. Left handed, young, powerful, closer. His only downside is his contract. That being said, he ends up as a closer on any club that acquires him. I've seen him floated to the Rangers, Nats, Cubs, or Guardians. They will wait until the deadline to get blown away, but expect him dealt. He may not be enough of a package to get a Schwarber or a Turner, but I could see a Clint Frazier or a Javier Baez type return.
  13. So you trust Farrell to manage your bullpen?
  14. You don't know that
  15. Basically, the muscle's workload was too much for the muscle. Happens every time you pull something. That being said, if he tried to "muscle up" using bad mechanics, I could see how the pec gets involved. Either way, uf he doesn't pitch in a 4-0 game last night, he's available tonight. Look for an absence longer than 15 days, btw. Koji isn't the fastest healer
  16. The pec flexes the arm and internally rotates it. It certainly isn't a primary muscle for the act of throwing, but it is used to slow the arm down after a throw. So saying workload isn't a factor isn't correct. It's just surprising that the larger muscle used to slow the arm down went rather than the smaller muscles used to speed the arm up.
  17. a700, they have a dead offense.
  18. Expected to be headed for DL. Timeline uncertain. It's a strange injury for a pitcher
  19. HR#10 for Dermis. This kid is gonna be a power beast
  20. Texas and Washington in on Chapman. This is very, very good. I get that we're 3-2 out of the break, but our schedule is terrible and we're still 5 games out of a playoff spot. From Texas, I'd be looking at Profar or Gallo and from Washington, I'd be looking at Turner.
  21. Sox are in talks with the Twins for Ervin Santana, btw. Wright, Pomeranz, Price, Porcelli, Santana
  22. It was an adequate package for a pitcher who had a down first half, is more of a righty matchup guy and is 36. Don't let the ERA fool you, his WHIP was nearly 1.5 in Arizona
  23. 700, we don't strike out much. 4th lowest in the majors. But we also don't score much at all. 23rd in baseball. Also 23rd in BA and 23rd in OBP. Tonight, we were 11 for 28 vs Price with a walk and 3 doubles. Our line vs Price today was .392/.413/.500. We have murdered him all season.
  24. Have you seen him of late? I did. He was absolutely abysmal with no velocity or location.
