  1. Disclaimer: I'm a Giants fan. That being said, I have two comments here. 1. I think Brady got railroaded for a pretty petty offense, assuming he made one 2. The courts acted appropriately. While the initial judge tried to play arbiter, the subsequent appeals actually practiced the law. The CBA gave absolute power to the commissioner. The next time the NFL goes to the bargaining table, they have to fix that, but it won't help Brady here
  2. Depends on the degree. You'll get more of an update after the surgery. Small tears are easily fixed and you can actually walk out of the operating room. The small tears can typically have a return to sports in 4 weeks assuming no residual pain
  3. Benintendi struggled upon promotion to AA and then got hot. He has one more level to conquer. And those not worried about burning an option yr need only look at your all star CFer. He's burned them all before he took at the big league level. Don't call the kid up until he's ready
  4. Koji and Ziegler will be your 8-9 right off the bat. Talk about an underpowered duo, lol. Ziegler somehow has a sub 3ERA with a near 1.50 WHIP. He's been uncharacteristically wild this season. With Taz having "shoulder fatigue" and Kimbrel basically out til September, DD should be in the market for another relief arm as well as a starter. Also, anyone who wants a starter at the trade deadline will be spending far beyond a "reasonable" amount. Rich Hill is healthy and has been dominant in his two starts back. He's gonna return a king's ransom if only for the lack of financial commitment, performance and timing.
  5. Torn meniscus. Due for surgery shortly.
  6. I am literally hoping for a free fall. I want us to be 10 games under before the deadline and I want this team to sell. We need the fresh blood to start getting reps
  7. Eovaldi and his 100mph fastball couldn't miss bats. He's got the stuff to be a staff ace and he doesn't walk hitters, but he must have the straightest fastball of all time. Even at 101mph, guys are barreling it at an alarming rate
  8. He's had a bit of a down yr on the peripherals. Not sure if that's decline or SSS. Regardless, you got him for nothing and at his best, he's closer worthy, so not too shabby
  9. 2016 has had some issues for sure, but some offense is starting to develop... First, for the bad. Ty Hensley blew out his elbow again and is probably done. James Kaprielian continues to have elbow pain and, IMO, is headed for surgery that will knock him out for the season and probably next as well. Nick Rumbelow and Branden Pinder both went down with TJS as well. Next, for the AAA level, which is loaded. Aaron Judge is 2nd in HR and RBI in the IL. He dominated April, sucked in May, dominated in June and has started hot in July. He's cutting down on the K's of late and is starting to take more walks. He is about as ready as they come and really should be in the mix for RF in 2017. Gary Sanchez has quietly been hitting well, although the walk totals have all but disappeared. His power is still solid as he's now hit 9HR in only 53 games. Chad Green led the IL in ERA and is now in the Yankees rotation Cave and Gamel have both produced well. Tyler Austin has regained prospect status after a few yrs lost to a wrist injury. 7HR and a .976OPS in 28 AAA games will do that. Luis Severino has regained his command. 1.09WHIP, 5-0 and 3.09ERA, 38/11 K/BB. Should be back in the Bronx soon Giovanny Gallegos is another callup from AA. Has struck out 62 in 45IP to this point with only 11BB and a 1.40ERA. AA is crappy offensively, but the pitching has been really good Kyle Higashioka is back on the roids, hitting more HR's in the past month than he has in any single season 21 yr old Miguel Andujar was promoted from A+ ball and has raked. Power is slow to come in AA, but he hit 10 bombs in High A. Currently hitting .348 in AA in 20 games Tyler Wade is hitting well with a .378OBP and 15 steals out of the SS position 21 yr old Dustin Fowler is holding his own in a league well beyond his years. .275BA with 17 steals, although power and BB rates are slow to come. Jordan Montgomery, Daniel Camarena and Dietrich Enns have been pretty dominant as lefty starters. All with ERA's under 2.70 Vicente Campos has finally recovered from TJS and has been dominant in 6 starts after his callup. Jonathan Holder is the breakout performer on this squad. Brought up after 2 games in Tampa, he has been throwing ched and has a 0.82WHIP while striking out 58 in 40.1IP out of the pen Chance Adams was called up from High A. Converted reliever has been dominant so far. 92K in 79IP with a combined 0.98WHIP A+ level has been inconsistent. Abiatal Avelino couldn't hit in April, but has raked since. 19 steals is nice as is his new career high in HR at 6 in just half a season. Only 21 and can play all over the IF Jorge Mateo is the other way around. He was awesome in April, good in May, terrible in June and pretty bad in July. 26 steals is nice still and just turned 21 Ian Clarkin lost 2015 due to a bone spur in the elbow. He's been solid and durable, throwing 91IP to this point. K rate is passable, 1.29WHIP is mediocre. Domingo Acevedo is the big prize on the bump. Called up from A ball, he has been dominant. 74K in 65.1IP with a 1.01WHIP and a combined ERA of 2.20. Yefrey Ramirez impressed in his debut with 11K in 7IP. He has been quite the surprise A ball has been meh Gosuke Katoh is finally hitting like a 2nd rounder. .297 with a near .800OPS in 26 games Chris Gittens is hitting for some serious power with 13HR in 70 games. His problem is that he sucks as a 1b with 12 errors so far. High BB and K totals too, a DH in the making Kyle Holder, our first rounder from last yr, has predictably been amazing defensively and has sucked offensively A bunch of other guys pitching well with little to no future. Nestor Cortes is the most notable as he has been completely dominant with a 0.72ERA, 0.74WHIP and 10+K/9IP Lower levels We have a bunch of prospects of note, but short sample sizes. The big guy I saw listed was Dermis Garcia. He's now played in 10 games. He has 7 hits, but 5 of them have left the yard. He has also struck out 16 times, although a nice walk total at 6. This guy was the headliner of that big class of prospects who just migrated stateside. Still listed a SS, he has humongous power. He's likely to be a 3B, but nice to see him start off with 5 bombs in 10 games
  10. Vasquez makes your pitching staff better. He is a true defensive wizard and seems to have big brass balls behind the dish when he manages his pitchers. He was easy to hide when the entire team was hitting. He is less so now with a few guys slumping.
  11. The sox nabbed multiple top 30 prospects and somehow avoided a big bonus? Yeah, that smells. Maybe other teams do it, they probably do. Throwing NY in there might be right, I don't know. What I do know is we didn't get a single top 30 guy last yr and this yr we got one, #25, who wanted to sign in NY no matter what. While it is entirely possible we are guilty, I think the sox were far more blatant. You don't get guys in the top 20 for less than a million, typically. And to get a couple at a fraction of that smells.
  12. Owens is done as a prospect
  13. 5IP 10H 5ER. That's what he will do. O'Sullivan sucks. He's always sucked. DD's issue right now is that too many teams think they're still in it. That second wild card has left Aug 1 a bit dry because a lot more teams have a chance. Oakland is probably your best trade partner, but the A's are likely to hang onto Hill until he proves his health after coming off the DL. And they'll want a few more starts from Gray to proves he's worthy of an ace return. Pomeranz stock keeps rising, so I'm sure he'll be moved soon. The Braves have come out saying they won't deal Teheran this year, for what that's worth. And the rest of the teams out of it at this point have no pitching. DD has to force the issue of he's adamant about winning right now. Without two more pitchers of solid quality, your team is going to miss the playoffs
  14. You can't predict when 8 of your hitters go on hot streaks and you can't time them to happen at the same time
  15. Looks like the bloom is off the Steven Wright rose
  16. A realistic view is that without reinforcements, your team is a .500 club. Having gotten off to a terrific start, maybe you finish a bit above .500, like 86 wins or so. That being said, without good pitching, you will be prone to huge swoons as nobody really is the stopper on your staff. I wonder if the fall has convinced DD to hold pat and try things again in the offseason to get a starter
  17. Devers is immensely talented, but he is sucking hard in A ball right now. Pump the brakes on him being a big leaguer for awhile. Also, it is entirely possible Groome doesn't sign. It all depends on what the sox are offering him. He wont sign for slot at 12, he will be signing for much more, like what the Yanks had to do with their kid. The sox are likely working on deals with the rest of their top 10 and then will come back to Groome with what is left. That is what we did with Rutherford and what I expect you to do with Groome. I think there is a better than average chance he signs as long as the sox come to him with an above slot deal. Also, remember, he is going JuCo. It is entirely possible he doesn't sign, goes JuCo and ups his draft stock going into next season
  18. I see the point Babe. Yes, Price should be playing better. That being said, he guy has won his fair share of games, and although this has had a bad half season to this point, he's effectively allows the offense to win a few. The sox problem is that they basically get a bullpen game twice in the rotation. This team is sinking fast, mostly because, as has been proven year after year, an all offense only team does not win consistently.
  19. Porcello showed some moxie. 8 base runners in the first 4 innings is no good. He settled down, got the final six outs in a row and the sox O took over. Against most other teams, he's done in the 4th.
  20. I find it weird that he's having further symptoms yet the docs are telling him to fight through it. It seems completely against the usual concussion recommendations. Typically a return of symptoms is a return to brain rest, i.e. No sports, tv, cell phone etc.
  21. I'd be pissed if I was Girardi. The 9th started in a downpour. There was a puddle in the landing spot for the pitcher. Chapman and his 100 mph heat couldn't grip the ball. Instead of calling for the delay prior to the inning, the umps wait until Chap walks a batter and goes 3-1 on another. That neutralizes Chap. After the delay, Kirby AAAA goes into a losing situation and loses the game.
  22. Owens is done Station. I saw him in person yesterday in Pawtucket. He looked absolutely terrible. I remember SR's on him in low A with mid to high 90s heat. The guy couldn't even top out at 90 and his stuff sucked.
  23. Buch and ERod have been septic abortions in the rotation. When two spots are cesspools of utter suck, the other 3 guys need to be perfect. If theyre off for one turn of the rotation, you're at the mercy of your offense to avoid a 5 game losing streak
  24. The team might need it but Fragile Eddy might turtle and not recover if he leaves him out there. The guy who wore his uniform last year isn't the same one in the uni this year. Too timid, too afraid. He needs to sort it out in AAA. He looks like Severino did back in April and May
