  1. They got cocky with Lester, plain and simple. They thought they shat rainbows and unicorns when they offered him a terrible contract prior to 2014 after winning an improbable and insanely lucky title in 2013. That destroyed the trust. Then the trade happened, which moved him from Boston and destroyed any lingering thoughts of coming back. Then they lowballed him again in free agency. They tried to right the wrong with Price, but Price is not the kind of guy mentally to handle the pressure in the bean
  2. D, the funny thing is, we have prospects and they are blocked. In a perfect world, Refsnyder would finish the yr as a 1b, just so he can develop offensively. Bird would retake the position next yr and Refsnyder could move to 2b with Castro moving to 3b and Headley screwing. Sanchez would be our starting catcher. Judge (when his leg heals), would be in the OF. Jake Cave or Ben Gamel would be playing over Smellsbury. Severino would be back up as should Green with Eovaldi and Pineda moving on to some other team that thinks they can fix them. We have tons of relief prospects, and in another system, they'd be major league relievers. Time for them to get the shot. I want this team to tank. I want a protected pick. I want to see what the kids can do. I want to accumulate some more big league ready prospect talent.
  3. Dermis Garcia hit his 8th HR today in Pulaski. He has 8HR, 2 doubles and 7 singles on the season with 13 walks. OPS is 1.060 and he is 18 for the whole season. Kid is starting to figure it out although needs to make some more consistent contact.
  4. I honestly hope we beat the piss out of Price, but understand that a loss here would be the deathknell of the season for the owners and would signal a sell sign. Conflicted to say the least, but really hoping for that "Open for Business" sign to be out front of the stadium after the game
  5. ERod faced the most pathetic offense in a Bombers uniform sine Jeter was in middle school
  6. My major point to you guys was whether you thought you could have gotten something more for Espinoza
  7. Hugh, 2 of those guys could be gone in 15 days. DD has made a big splash on this roster. It is uniquely his and will continue to be so as he makes moves. There is a chance he isn't done and you are going to see a big time pitching acquisition to go along with Pomeranz.
  8. The fate of the Yankees has to take precedence over the fate of our rivals
  9. We are 4 games up on a top 10 draft pick. I want a protected pick. I want to sell
  10. I'm so conflicted for this series. Cashman is trying to sell the assets but Stein and the curly headed president think we're still in it. This team isn't ready for prime time and any real baseball fan can see that. We need to make a significant overhaul and in this trade market, the prices are sky high. It would behoove us to move at least one dominant reliever and probably the best bat on the market in Beltran. On one hand, I want the Yankees to go into a tailspin so we can do what's right for our future. On the other hand, it's the f***ing Red Sox.
  11. Pomeranz is a two pitch pitcher who can't stay healthy. He's been a swing pitcher his entire career before settling into the rotation in Petco park. All of a sudden, he's a "must have". He's never thrown more than 100IP in a major league season. He walks his fair share of hitters. He's having a hell of a season. But he's a lefty entering Fenway. He's worth something. But is he worth the #14 prospect in all of baseball who has lights out stuff as a full season 18 yr old? If Espinosa was a given to be dealt for pitching, I'd expect it to be for someone with a bit more track record
  12. Pal, the cutter is only useful against righties in to keep them honest. A cutter is a type of fastball and doesn't change the plane. The only plane changing pitch he has is a big curveball. This is a massive overpay.
  13. NS, Espinosa is a top 20 prospect. You deal those for guys with a track record. This guy is a two pitch pitcher who has been unable to stay healthy. He moves to Petco and is suddenly an ace. The timing of the deal is all you need to know as to why Espinosa was dealt. I think this guy is a bust waiting to happen, and you just dealt a guy who looks like a stud ace should he reach his ceiling. That being said, he's better than Buccholz
  14. If they dealt Sonny Gray to the sox, I could see them asking for one top prospect and a few parts from your big league team. I could see Moncada, Barnes, Owens and Brentz. Everyone would basically pan the deal since nobody thinks anything of the last 3 guys, but all three would end up on the big league team somehow contributing and Moncada would hit his ceiling. Everyone shits on Beane, but he is right a lot more than you care to admit
  15. They got Graveman, Barreto and Lawrie for him. They dealt Lawrie for JB Wendelken and Zach Erwin. Graveman is 25 and is already at a near 2WAR this season. Sinker slider guy slots well into the middle of a rotation Barreto is the #35 prospect in all of baseball and the #1 prospect in the A's organization right now. He's a recently turned 20 yr old holding his own as a 2b in AA while stealing 22 bags in half a season Lawrie gave them 2WAR last yr before being dealt Erwin is a big lefty with a big arm who is sucking ass right now in High A Wendelken is a big armed righty with huge K numbers in AAA who made his debut this yr In short, it isn't historically bad. He dealt a guy he thought was a team cancer for pieces that work. Right now, he has a stalwart #3-4 in the rotation, a top prospect in Barreto at AA and a hard throwing pen arm in AAA ready for the bigs from the deal. It follows the Beane trade mantra. Everyone pans him, but he shoots for the moon with one guy then asks for dependable parts who translate well to the bigs
  16. When you have a supremely talented, veteran team, an ego manager is what you need. When you have a moderately talented, young team, a true coach is what you need. When you have an undertalented team, a game manage might win your a few. The sox are a young, supremely talented offensive team and an undertalented veteran pitching team. Farrell can manage the offensive egos and has proven his leadership allows young position players to grow and thrive. He has proven to be a horrendous game manager, especially on the pitching side, and for someone who was praised as a pitching coach, he has shown absolutely no progression in terms of development of pitching talent.
  17. If it comes down to money, how did Petco win? Yes, the real estate is expensive there, but there are more people sufing the waves than Padres fans out there. They could give two shits about baseball
  18. The physical has derailed plenty of deals. See Aiken, Brady. It means they are close. Proving you are healthy is the final step before pen is either put to paper or the offer is rejected. Groome has to understand that $5 mil is out and $4 mil is probably the max realistic offer he can hope for
  19. Thunder now knows what it's like to be me, lol. Doesn't feel so good does it, lol
  20. It stays for the lux tax hit as well. It will stay until the contract is over
  21. Nick, YOU DONT REMOVE CASTILLO FROM YOUR BUDGET. How many times do we have to say it
  22. Trey Ball is not really much of a prospect anymore. His fastball never developed and is going the way of Henry Owens
  23. Jets and Red Sox fan? You like pain, don't you?
