  1. 2013 sox team was heavily veteran driven. This team has essentially three rookies in the starting lineup and two very young pitchers in the rotation. With young players, you don't know whether they'll hit ceiling early or are ramping up. I know where most of the vets will end up as the season ends for the most part with some standard deviations for over or underperformance. I literally have no idea how Bird, Sanchez and Judge will perform over a full year. I have no idea how Sevy and Montgomery will pitch over a full year. It's really fun right now as we are winning. I imagine it will get frustrating at points this year when we arent
  2. I think Severino will surprise you. And yeah, I think they're a little early. I don't think the team ends up a first place team, yet they have the talent next year or later to be a perennial winner.
  3. We're pretty good now! And Sanchez returns Tomorrow!
  4. Tanaka was up 1 or 2 runs vs the Sox. He was up 7 vs the Jays
  5. Pomeranz could go deeper, but he wont. He was a 5+IP per start guy last yr. He will be the same going forward. He has enough command of his stuff to get strikeouts, but he doesn't have enough command to get out of innings efficiently. His AB's last far too long. For a guy with a good 3.0BB/9IP total and a solid BAA of .234, he shouldn't be averaging over 18 pitches per inning. Last yr in his "breakout" season, he averaged 16.7 pitches per inning, also far too high
  6. Pedroia had a Chase Headley-esque April with 1EBH for the month. The thing that is at least useful for you guys is that he is still reaching base close to 35% of the time. He is a small statured player who will turn 34 in 3 months. He will likely start showing some power, but it is fair to ask whether the best from DP is behind him
  7. Last full season was 2015 due to an ACL injury. Hit 22 homers with a .818OPS. This year, he's up to a .837OPS. He's more of a free swinger for sure, but he is more patient than the first month showed. He also makes a lot of contact. Aside from Donaldson, name another 3B who is better who is at risk for being dealt? BTW, he had a 4.4WAR in 2015 as well
  8. BTW guys, you are missing the most likely guy to hit the market at the hot corner. Mike Moustakas is a FA after the season and there is no way he re-signs in KC. There will be a major market for him.
  9. If Price comes back as Price, then you don't care. If Price isn't able to make it back, then you'll need a fifth starter. With the Yankees and O's starting well, the sox are going to need to beef up on their pitching since the offense has taken a considerable dip in production
  10. Slav, Wake was a really good pitcher with Pittsburgh before he came to Boston. Wright, not so much
  11. Wright is a AAAA player who had a hot first half of a season. He's not very good. He's now injured. The sox are now in need of another starter as their development of starting pitching has been terrible since ERod came up a few years ago. Price would certainly be that which ails you, but who knows if he comes back.
  12. It's called pitching with a lead. Otherwise known as no more nibbling, so while it isn't BP, it's certainly more akin to allowing hits
  13. Judgement in case #13 is homerun
  14. The Jays and Sox will trade, but a premium will be added onto the cost. The sox have some prospect capital, but the teams involved would be pretty stocked with talent. I could see NY getting involved if the Yankees are in it and Headley cools off, but I hope not. The Rangers make a ton of sense if Beltre is finally cooked.
  15. He's an MVP caliber player with another year attached plus QO capability. A deal for him would be massive and since the Jays run appears to be over, a JBJ caliber player isn't worth it. The Jays decimated their farm to get to this level, they'll need it to be rebuilt.
  16. Nice try a700. We were up 7-0 in the 5th and he essentially just started pitching with a lead.
  17. This kid has been just incredible. The progression from last year to this one is stunning. Last year he took fastballs then couldn't lay off sliders off the plate. Now, he looks like a ten year vet. He's got the goods to hit 40 homers and reach base 40% of the time
  18. His first today was a yankee stadium special. That last one was a bomb
  19. All rise for the Judge! #12!
  20. More Judgement! #11!
  21. You're probably going to be disappointed there. Tanaka was awful first two starts, he'll end up on a roll. Severino had been so impressive his last 3 starts. You had to figure he'd not have all his stuff forever. The thing Girardi f***ed with was this kid's confidence. Sevy clearly had nothing yet got us through 5 allowing only 2 runs. Instead of pulling him then and giving him a thumbs up for hanging in there, he got greedy and it burned us. We weren't hitting Estrada, we never hit Estrada. But a 2-1 deficit is a lot better than 5-1 when facing a nemesis. He very clearly f***ed up and I called it in the thread.
  22. Very undisciplined team
  23. a700, if you watched tonight's game, you'd have seen he was way off. He couldn't locate his fastball or slider. He got through 5 allowing only 2 runs. He was pretty obviously cooked. Girardi tried to stretch him out and it caught us
  24. You know, the thing I never understood was why Papi didn't get plunked more often. The sox loved the bean ball, yet nobody seemed to ever hit Ortiz.
  25. This all could have ended if the sox hit Machado in the butt cheek. Instead, Barnes goes high and now there is going to be a war all series long
