  1. That homerun is still travelling. Holy s***, 496 feet? The guy is locked in. He doesn't chase anymore, so guys have to come in the zone and he seems to be able to handle anything.
  2. The problem for you guys is that the minor league chips have been dealt and the gaping hole at 3b has an internal option who is also your best trade chip. It's easier when your best trade chip is blocked. It's more dicey when the player is in a position of need. You run into the possibility that your player received is passed by the player traded within a year
  3. Montgomery has been a major eye opener. The guy looks like a seasoned vet out there as a rookie. We knew what Severino could do, just surprised to see him regain form after such a terrible 2016. Pineda has always had promise, but injury or ineffectiveness have limited him. Figures he puts it together in a contract year. CC has experienced a bump in velocity, which has helped his off speed stuff in that there is a bigger difference. Also, he seems to have his slider back. The one puzzling case has been Tanaka. The guys has been great for three years and this year, everything is missing in the zone. If he figures it out, we will have only one weakness (3b) with a few internal options.
  4. 4 outs, 9 runs. We are beating the s*** out of this team
  5. 121 mph off the bat of Judge. Wow
  6. Three straight bludgeonings. This offense has been resurrected with the corpses out of the lineup from last year. Hicks has reached his ceiling. There's a reason why he was a top 7 draft pick. Ellsbury doesn't have a job to return to. Also, Hicks in the 2 hole allows Sanchez to drop into an RBI position, which should benefit him a bit more with all the guys getting on base in front of him. The absolutely crazy thing is how little we have gotten out of 1b. Bird should be back soon. Sounds like this ankle bone bruise was there since the end of ST and he just soldiered through. If the injury was limiting his performance and he's now ok, watch out. He's got big potential and adding him to our lineup will drop our breathers down to 1 (Headley). That's until Wade or Torres moves up.
  7. Acevedo has really taken to AA. He and Adams are big time helium guys
  8. Byung Kim, Eric Gagne, Way Back Wasdin. There's a top 15 searchable on google. Their #1 is before all of our times. Red Ruffing. Guy was terrible as a Red Sox, but after moving to NYY, he turned into a HOFer
  9. He's too concerned with what the media thinks. What he doesn't get is that if he pitches well, the sox media will not get off his nuts. The media here is incredibly front running. Nostalgia has almost no place in the boston media. If you are doing well, they're your best friend
  10. The sox scored one run off Yankee pitchers not named Masahiro. And we all know Tanaka is either hurt or mechanically a mess
  11. Good to see Carter heating up. It's crazy how strong he is. If he starts hitting them in bunches, we'll be in good shape
  12. Doesn't make sense. If he's not hurt, then a mental break would help. The O's are gonna tee off if he doesn't fix it
  13. Slider just spins. Splitter doesn't split. 2 seamer doesn't even sink. I think one of Terry Francona's patented 15 day phantom DL stints is in order. If he's hurt, fix it definitively. If he isn't, then give him a break.
  14. Kimbrel is not Koji-esque. Koji got by with smoke and mirrors. Kimbrel is a straight up badass with overwhelming power
  15. Tanaka's calling card is movement and location. He has had neither for 6 weeks now. He's got an elbow that wasnt repaired. My bet is we are going to hear about it letting go this year
  16. And Chance Adams has a no-hitter going in AAA right now. DL this guy
  17. Judge is so locked in. Last year, that kid chased everything. This year he is as disciplined a hitter as I've seen.
  18. I am glad we are facing you guys and not B-more today. Tanaka with more of the same s***** location. We should be down 5 or 6 by now
  19. It's called pressure. It's pretty easy to coast along riding the wave of success. Once there is a bit of adversity, the pressure can mount and effect the pitcher's capability to focus and locate. There's no stat to look for that, it is real though. You feel it out there on the field
  20. bkz, Tanaka has to be hurt. Either that or his mechanics, which previously had been flawless, need adjusting. His splitter has been awful. Beyond awful at that. And he has the best one in baseball. It's his out pitch. Without that, he is a FB/slider guy who doesnt throw hard enough to be good with just a FB-slider. Splitters are the worst for the elbow. He has a tear in the elbow that may have healed with scar tissue, but is not likely to be stronger than his original ligament. The likelihood that his elbow isnt right is pretty high
  21. Devers has fallen off a bit. Same with Torres after his promotion. Might behoove some fans to pump the brakes on the kid to see if he can handle Pawtucket before Fenway.
  22. He can do whatever he needs to. Thing is, a healed, previously torn ligament is not as strong as a TJS one. I wouldnt be surprised if they look and see a recurrent tear or a worse tear. I hope they look and if he is torn, I hope they fix it right this time. Chance Adams is lined up with Tanaka's start and that kid is a stud. It's crazy that we are still in first with next to nothing from our ace.
