  1. Good start thus far from our fatty. Torreyes with a bomb and then a gift double for Holliday. With our pen, we need 2.2IP more from CC and we should lock this down
  2. Enjoy the game all. I'm off, but I've got a date with my three little ones and some bikes,
  3. Bird is likely to be platooned to start. Tanaka had it all spring, but didn't have it today. So be it. It's one game
  4. Judge wins RF. Severino wins the #4 starter nod. If that kid returns to his 2015 form, then we might have a reasonable rotation
  5. There's a difference between never showing 95 and having done so previously and this being his first outing. Understand, the sox brass will be VERY concerned if his velo settles out at 90-92. It won't. He'll get back to his velo capability
  6. 10 days no throwing then they will re evaluate him. DD and his reliever trades...
  7. Pom is a wild card. I think people hate the trade because of what you gave up. He's one season as a starter with a 1.0+ WAR and that was last season which finished with injury. He's got the stuff to be effective. The question is, can he repeat the delivery and can he stay healthy
  8. Leon had a near .400 BABIP last year. Fangraphs has him at .672OPS for this year. While Leon may be your starting catcher on opening day, I see this being a three way fight all year
  9. I'm wearing mine for sure.
  10. JBJ is worth above replacement level based on defense alone.
  11. It was the best team before Price went down. I think fully healthy, the sox edge the Guardians by a win or two. Without Price for awhile, I think the Guardians are top seed in the AL
  12. This is why you make signings like Kendrick. Catch lightning in a bottle, hope you can get a nice run for a short time then discard.
  13. Greg Bird is the future starting 1b for the Yankees. He will not be a platoon guy long term, but this season, he likely will be with the presence of Chris Carter. It's a way to ease him back from injury
  14. Porcello's issue was performance. Pomeranz has a major health history
  15. That's probably accurate
  16. Farrell is funny. A guy could lose a foot and he'd minimize it. "John, the reports are that Christian Vasquez lost his foot while jet skiing in the ocean, do you have any comment?" "Well, you know, Christian is making strides in his recovery. I see improvements every single day. I expect him back to normal pretty soon. He's making strides for sure." "John, he lost a foot, right?. How can he be making strides?" "Well, he's getting better day by day and with advances in technology and his ability to manage the pitching staff, I expect him to be back by the beginning of the season. No reason to worry at all."
  17. Benintendi should make an impact. Pablo maybe is an upgrade over Shaw, who knows. There are no positives offensively to losing a guy who hit to a 1+ OPS. Your offense will suffer. The fix was to offset it by upgrading your rotation. The upgrade was Sale, but if you remove Price from the equation, then you're treading water for the most part. If Price is out for an extended period of time, you're going to be scrapping to make the playoffs
  18. Pomeranz has an elbow injury and is currently experiencing a velocity drop. He's no sure thing.
  19. Pomeranz seems healthy? He debuted yesterday, got shelled, and saw his velocity in the high 80s.
  20. Pablo has "recommitted" himself and is being paid $19 mil for the next 3 seasons. Pablo will win the job if only to see what you have. Last year, Pablo mailed it in and ultimately was injured. If you are paying this guy that kind of money and he is dedicated and working hard, you need to see what the new and improved Pablo is
  21. He wasn't as good as his contract, but his seasons in Boston were solid. He missed one full and one half season in Boston out of 6. He played in 134+ games in the other 4. His final 2 full seasons in Boston totaled 13.8WAR. Even when the power faded after his insane 2011, he was still worth close to 6WAR. His first season in NY was passable. .747OPS, 16HR, 39SB, 3.3 WAR. Not what we paid for, but still pretty good. His last 2 have a .663 and .704WAR with 41 steals and 16HR combined. He is mailing it in. Worst signing ever in NY. At least the other bad signings (and there are many) either didn't have this duration, this cost, or resulted in at least one title
  22. Aces are worth more than their WAR indicates, but you have Sale and Porcello who were aces last year too. Price's worth isn't just his effectiveness, it's his durability. Being able to throw 200+IP for a team with a suddenly thin pen (Thornburg hasn't thrown and Smith is returning from surgery) is really important. That being said, your offense should manhandle a few bad starts where Price is out and league average replacements with that offense should do "ok".
  23. With Price for 5 months, 93 wins. Without price for the season, 87 wins
  24. They told him they'd operate if he was younger? He's got 6 years left on his deal. Also, I'm not sure of any adult surgical injury that magically changes based on 8 years of life
