  1. They will cool off for sure. We have another 2-3 weeks without Sanchez or Didi. Hopefully the vets can contribute in that time. Our rotation has been solid through 2.5 turns. Severino and Pineda looked really good thus far. Our worst pitcher has been Tanaka and he just had a solid start. Two of our losses were blown by our setup guys, which likely isn't going to be a regular occurrence. CC has regained some velocity while still pitching like a finesse guy. This winning streak won't last, obviously, but it's nice to see thing clicking out of the gate. Last year, we were done in by a bad April
  2. Bird finally coming alive. HR and a double so far with some real good swings and AB's. He comes alive and this offense is dangerous
  3. They have been bad, and while I think last yr was an aberration from Porcello, I also think the prior year was a aberration too. He's a reliable 4ERA guy. Your offense needs to find its way without Ortiz
  4. They've got the rotation to go on a roll once healthy. I'm enjoying it right now, but likely won't be as the season goes on
  5. Nice start for Pom. Keep it going Pom!
  6. Hometown discounts are a fallacy. Guys take discounts in pre-arb years. All of your guys aside from Betts are past their pre-arb years
  7. Because they're going to be VERY expensive and signing all of them will hamstring the sox. Bogey, Betts and Bradley all have the potential to be $20+ mil per annum players. Currently, they're making what, $7 mil total? With Price and Pedey still on the books and likely past their prime, you're going to be saddled with over $100 mil annual salary with 5 players and 2 will be on their last legs professionally
  8. He's also hitting .323 with a .400OBP
  9. Tampa Yankees are in their 8th game and Mateo just stole is 7th base to 1 CS. The guy might steal 100
  10. Kaprielian undergoes TJS. This f***ing medical staff is garbage
  11. I thought it was a 7 run rule? Farrell gave him 8. Wow. The flutterball isn't fluttering anymore
  12. Everyone talks about great stuff. Clay no longer has great stuff. His FIP last year was over 5. His fastball has been sitting at the 92 mark for years after his "great stuff" days of sitting 94. This year, his fastball is sitting 90 and he's hurt. DD should get a tremendous amount of credit for this move. He got a warm body in return and dumped his salary to a team that he cannot hurt you on if he experiences a career rennaissance. Also, he saved a bit of money without having to use the opt out.
  13. Clay Buchholz is getting lit up
  14. https://www.fanragsports.com/mlb/yankees/pleskoff-scouting-report-jordan-montgomery/ Interesting write up on our #5 starter. He fell to the fourth round due to velo concerns. He was high 80s topping out at 90 on draft day. Now he sits 92 and tops out at 94. That's big league velocity. He always had the command and the good but not overly spectacular off speed offerings. Now with big league velocity, a big league arsenal and excellent command, he is going to surprise some people. His size also makes the 92 look a lot faster. He really jumped up the ladder fast
  15. And I'm enjoying the ride. This is the first season that I've entered where I'm fairly certain we aren't making the playoffs, but I'm also tuning in every night to see how these kids do. It's good that Jacoby started hot, because he's a possible pine rider depending on how hot Frazier becomes. Same with Headley as he has Torres on his heels
  16. The funny thing is kimmi, the rays actually could be good this year with that staff. Aside from a strong likelihood of the sox being the lead dog in this division, you really have no idea which team will be your chief competition. It could be TB.
  17. Blake Rutherford is on fire to start the year. He bypassed SI and went right to Charleston (A ball). He's 8 for 16 with 3 walks, 3 doubles, and a steal in 4 games. The kid is as good a hitter as you'll find in the minors. He likely wont be long for A ball, as he is just far too talented. Good chance he spends a fair amount of time in Tampa this year
  18. That was a big win to avoid the sweep. An unspectacular QS from CC, 3 lights out pen innings, an offense that drove up the pitch count of the starter and feasted on middle relief. Not a good matchup tomorrow. Cobb eats us alive and Pineda is surprising awful vs the punchless Rays.
  19. For as ugly as our start has been, it's been the veterans who let us down. We should be 3-2 if Clippard and Betances didn't cough up games
  20. The Judge executes that pitch. Tie game!
  21. HOFers? Lol. It's one series. We faced three pretty solid pitchers and could hit a pretty shifty bullpen. Onward and upward
  22. Also, our pen has gone 14 scoreless in three games. The problem is that two of our starters got rocked and we lost two games
  23. Same old Pineda. Two outs come easy, but cannot finish. I almost wonder if he'd be better as a reliever. He's so frustrating. He avoids the walk, racks of strikeouts, but gets stupid in the zone and gets racked
