  1. It makes absolutely no sense to deal Andujar. He’s been a very solid contributor on this club. He’s not Machado, but Andujar has five more years of control attached. I wonder if they’re dabbling in the Machado market because the price is dropping. Maybe they get Machado for akin to what the DBacks got JMart for and push Andujar to AAA for enough time for us to get another year of control? I’m also as convinced as ever that we aren’t getting DeGrom. With Wilpon more concerned about the back pages than rebuilding his club, I doubt he’d deal to the Yankees without getting a premium just because they share a city. The Yanks don’t need to pay it. I like the idea of stealing Britton and effectively asking your starter to go 3-4 innings in the playoffs
  2. The more I hear about Eovaldi, the more I think he’s gonna be on your club. The Sox have been at his last few starts. The 5 spot is a war of attrition and the 4 spot has David Price in it. You’re going to need another option in the rotation should Mr Tingles do his usual down the stretch fade.
  3. If the Sox got .500 the rest of the way, they’ll win 98 games. That’s crazy
  4. He kills lefties. Always had. He’s a very nice complement to your club
  5. Ben and Dave seem to believe more in the “stuff” of prospect rather than the metrics. The reason why NY has been able to develop pitching is reliance on spin rates. We’ve been snapping up guys in the middle rounds of the draft without eye popping velocity but top end spin rates who blossom into something of value.
  6. Tanaka returns tonight in time to get two starts in before the break. Tomorrow night is Grays last start before the break
  7. The Yanks interest in a Machado/Britton package is “heating up”. I call BS. I bet the O’s are feeding that to get a better offer from the Dodgers
  8. Split the DH. So be it.
  9. We’ve got Cessa going so I’m not terribly optimistic. CC was clearly struggling and letting him face Valencia was dumb.
  10. With Wright's knee being arthritic and paining, he cannot be counted on. David Price has shrunk the last 2 starts and especially in the post season. Do you think the sox will have enough stones to push for another starter who will start a playoff game and push their payroll over the final hurdle? I have been pondering this with Price recently falling off a cliff. Assuming the sox end up in a series and not eliminated in the play-in game, what is the playoff rotation? Sale Porcello ERod Price I would assume this is the rotation. Similar to the Yanks with Gray falling from grace, I doubt DD leaves Price up to chance in the playoffs, especially if he falters in his next 2 starts before the deadline. I wonder if he acquires a starter and in the POs moves Price to the pen where he thrived last year. Use him as a bridge guy should one of the other guys falter. I don't put anything past DD, although with a limited farm, they aren't likely to get an ace. I do wonder if they get a guy like Eovaldi, who is finally healthy after years of arm trouble and try to slot him into the 4 hole.
  11. Not really. Whoever goes to BAL is gonna get lots of playing time
  12. Fister is on the 60 day DL with a knee injury. He isn't eligible to return for a month
  13. LOL. Price and Gray have both blown goats their last 2 starts. The 5 before that, they were solid. The beginning of the season was more kind to Price than Sonny, but both were turning a corner until the Yankee-Sox series. Both are not made for the big stage. Price is not an asset right now. At least the Jays can hit. Price faced a team that had scored 4 earned runs on the opposing starter twice (one guy was a callup from AAA) in 30 days and he goes out there, gives up 4 and sets the sox record for HBP in an inning. Gray may be having the worse season, but the last 2 starts have been bad for both. I also think the sox are more likely to make a panic move. They are smack dab in the middle of their window and DD knows it. I think he will secure a starter before the Yankees do.
  14. Velasquez will start. I expect the Sox to make a deal for a starter. He won’t be in the rotation for long
  15. And not giving two shits about the game. The home field attached did make me want to watch, surprising to say. What they should do is use three different determinants of home field for the WS. A point for each. First to two gets home field Interleague record NL vs AL W/L of the two teams All Star game outcome If there’s a tie (AL and NL split, win-loss is same), playoff record to that point is the tie breaker. That leave less up to chance but allows for the game to have some meaning.
  16. Boone isn't the manager, Hinch is
  17. The Marlins asked for Soto or Robles from the Nats for Realmuto. They won't settle for Swihart's garbage
  18. Funny. He and David Price have joined the same sucktastic group
  19. Rumor has it he may be on the move as soon as tonight
  20. The Yankees have currently played 4 less games than Boston. Tomorrow, they have a DHer against Baltimore, making up one of those games. After 4 in 3 days in Baltimore, they go for 3 in Cleveland and then hit the ASB. After the ASB, the Yankees have a run from July 20-Sept 3 where the best team they play are the TB Rays outside of a 4 game stretch vs the Sox. Yankees: Red Sox for 4 Mets for 3 Rays for 6 Royals for 4 Orioles for 6 White Sox for 6 Rangers for 4 Blue Jays for 3 Marlins for 2 Tigers for 4 Red Sox: NYY for 4 Tigers for 3 Orioles for 6 Twins for 4 Phillies for 4 Blue Jays for 3 Rays for 6 Guardians for 4 Marlins for 2 White Sox for 3 Cancel out like competition and we have: Yankees: Mets for 3 Royals for 4 White Sox for 3 Rangers for 4 Tigers for 1 Red Sox: Twins for 4 Phillies for 4 Guardians for 4 By Sept 3, we will be even in games played. Removing like competition, the Yankees will have 15 games vs the Mets, Royals, White Sox, Rangers and Tigers vs the Sox having 12 games vs the Twins, Phillies and Guardians. From Sept 3 on, things get harder for NYY and the sox Yankees: A's for 3 Mariners for 3 Twins for 3 Blue Jays for 3 Red Sox for 6 Orioles for 3 Rays for 4 Red Sox: Braves for 3 Astros for 3 Blue Jays for 3 Mets for 3 Yankees for 6 Guardians for 3 Orioles for 3 Once again cancelling out like competition Yankees: A's for 3 Mariners for 3 Twins for 3 Rays for 4 Red Sox: Braves for 3 Astros for 3 Mets for 3 Guardians for 3 The home and away splits are nearly the same with the Yankees having 46 games at home before the ASB and the sox with 47. From this schedule, it looks like a tough stretch for both clubs from Sept 3 on. Both teams have a favorable schedule from the ASB to Sept 3, with NYY having it far easier as they troll the bottom of the divisions in that 6 week stretch. The way these teams are playing and the way the leagues are very top heavy, I have a feeling we are going to get to Labor Day with both teams in an absolute dead heat.
  21. Loaisiga went down with shoulder inflammation. He’s on the AAA DL.
  22. This isn’t a loss. Vasquez is not a great framer. He’s a good blocker. He’s deadly on the running game. He also cannot hit. Leon is a better hitter and what you may lose a bit in the running game, you’ll gain in Leon’s other abilities. I also think this is a spot the Sox look to upgrade. A lineup that’s 5 deep will struggle come playoff time.
  23. With the ASG no longer tied to home field in the World Series, am I the only one who could give two shits about it? If I’m Boone, I stretch Sevy to that final game vs Cleveland so he doesn’t pitch. Chapman should also use his knee as a reason not to play. I hope Judge also takes some time off too. I legitimately could care less and would rather my guys get the rest. Do Sox fans feel the same way?
  24. That post was from 3 weeks ago. In that time, Devers has picked it up a little and the Sox have other needs that have cropped up. Wright’s arthritic knee is barking and now Johnson is on the fritz. With Price pitching like dogshit, the Sox are suddenly reliant on 3 starters and the offense to carry them twice a turn. My guess is the Sox look for a guy to fill the 5 slot who can at least not murder their pen. Eovaldi threw 6+ perfect innings today and he will be in demand on the market. Hall might be too rich for the Sox blood in terms of money and prospects. They might also look for a league average guy from one of the loser clubs as well.
