  1. I wonder if this deal was a short term chance to give Chapman some time to heal and long term, a chance for our guys to shorten games. Britton, Warren, Betances, Holder, KRob, Chapman, Green. We can take a game from the 3rd inning on without taxing anyone
  2. Looks like 3 prospects heading back to the O’s headlined by our #9 prospect, Dillon Tate. Josh Rogers is apparently in the deal as well
  3. Knowing this game was gonna go 5 in all likelihood and knowing how s***** Pom has looked, you gotta have a guy ready from the start of the 5th. I’d have pulled him once he walked the lead off guy
  4. Dombrowski cannot get into a game of tit for tat with NYY. He doesn’t have the prospect firepower to do it. He needs to focus on his squad. I think Dombrowski gets a “ham and egger” (stolen from another poster) starting pitcher to stabilize the Pom spot and then they’ll add a reliever. They cannot be playing games with the Yanks should they land an ace
  5. Tanaka’s ERA is down to 4.28. He has always had a bad month every year. Last year it was so bad he couldn’t get the ERA down. This year, he was able to navigate through. He’s been great tonight and good vs Cleveland last time out. The Yankee staff should stabilize 1-4 going through the end of the year, it’s too good not to. They need the fifth spot to stabilize. Heyman reporting the deal is agreed upon pending medical. 3 prospects heading to BAL headlined by Dillon Tate. Medicals are never a given with the Orioles
  6. Tanaka is pretty good too. Gray has had two good starts in a row. We need a fifth guy if we aren’t gonna bring up Sheff. But our bullpen just got a lot better
  7. The Yankees and Orioles are at the medicals stage of negotiations involving Britton. Dillon Tate was scratched from his start at AA
  8. You guys won’t see Britton. He’s heading to the Bronx
  9. Yankees about to get Britton. Dillon Tate scratched from his start today. That pen is gonna be dirrrrrty
  10. Clearly, I hope he figures it out behind the dish. That being said, we need to consider the idea of getting a full time catcher for next year and shifting Gary to a mostly DH role
  11. Good fastball, reasonable change and slider. Issues with command. He was signed as an IFA by the Yanks and was moved to BAL last year for IFA funds
  12. They’re the worst team in all of professional baseball, major and minor leagues by win percentage. And that was with Machado
  13. The shift won’t be “outlawed” but they’ll change the rules in terms of alignment to some degree. I’ve heard all 4 infielders must have their feet in the dirt when the ball is pitched. The other is two players must be on both sides of second base. They could still shift, but it’ll be limited to some degree.
  14. Pomeranz sitting 85-88 per mlb at bat. This AAA lineup won’t hurt him most likely, but if this is his stuff now, DD better be on the phones
  15. Sanchez has always been somewhat of a prima donna. This is a problem when the player is a catcher. Catchers must sacrifice their body to block and Sanchez knows his payday isn’t coming from his catching skills.
  16. This is posturing. If the deadline comes and the Marlins get the opportunity to get Groome or Chavis plus for a reliever, you do it.
  17. Shaw was a late bloomer and those prospects rarely end up being more than replacement level. DD didn’t think he’d end up a legit middle of the order hitter and dealt him when he thought his value was highest. He was wrong
  18. We agree! Strange day indeed. Archer has the stuff to succeed anywhere akin to Sonny Gray, but he’s shown a regression in terms of the HR ball and seems to come up small against NY and Boston, which is a recipe for disaster. The Rays will want prime level return for him yet he hasn’t been ace like since 2015
  19. That’s possible. Who knows. I think Cash needs to have a starting contingency going forward. Sanchez, when healthy, has a legit bat. He also has a legit arm behind the dish. He’s just lazy and slow back there
  20. Might be time to consider Sanchez a backup catcher/DH going forward and we should go after a starting catcher in the offseason. Stanton would move out to LF which would free up the DH for Gary
  21. And he’s going back on the DL
  22. Heyman reporting Sanchez reinjured his groin on the passed ball
  23. That’s not true at all. Frazier is 23 and has been killing AAA pitching. He’s in demand for sure. My bet is he is kept, though, with the current injury. Morneau had a bunch of concussions over his long big league career. I’d take a career like Morneau’s for Frazier absolutely. The problem right now isn’t a lack of viable trade assets to send elsewhere, the problem right now is a lack of quality guys to deal for. We saw a generational talent in Machado moved, a dominant closer in Hand and a few ancillary guys moved this far (Familia, Colome, Span, Pearce), but no real juice to the deadline at all. The Yanks needs are clear. We have seven days to see if they address them
  24. If Sanchez doesn’t loaf after the passed ball or on the final out of the game, we win that game. Sevy has to be better, but he’s been mediocre at best his last three starts. We’re scuffling over the last 26 games (13-13) while the Sox keep surging. Gotta focus on our schedule and win where we can rather than watch the scores on the board.
  25. We’re 4-3 vs your squad this year which is a pretty small sample size for sure, but we have two pitcher who your squad doesn’t hit well against vs only one who still has our number (Sale). The battle of the bullpens will be very important and if ours gets better while yours pulls back, we will beat you in a series
