    One month to go in the short season leagues Anthony Seigler has hit well in his 35ABs, although he missed a month with an undisclosed injury. .314/.415/.457 Josh Breaux only has 19ABs and hasn't done much with them. Ryder Green has shown some power (.203 IsoP) but not a good hit tool with 32K's in 64ABs Frank German has dominated. 16.1IP 0.86WHIP 1.26ERA 20/3 K:BB ratio. Brandon Lockridge has been real good over his first 25 games. .282/.383/.462 triple slash, although down from that with his promotion to the NYP. Only 3 steals, though Rodney Hutchison has had a solid debut. In 4 outings, 11IP 1.64ERA 1.00WHIP 12/3 K:BB Daniel Bies has been absolutely dominant. The 6'8" Gonzaga product has mowed down 24 in 14.2IP with a 0.95WHIP and a 1.23ERA. Van Hoose threw only 3IP before going on the 60 day DL. That's not a good thing Mick Vorhof hasn't thrown a pitch and is on the 60 day DL Josh Maciejewski has been solid in his debut. 16.2IP 20:4 K/BB ratio. 1.26WHIP 4.32ERA

    No way. There's always someone to get and the sox need a reliever. I know Brasier has looked good of late and Thornburg has had a good 8 game run, but who do you go to when you're facing Judge, Stanton and Sanchez in the 7th inning when your pitcher gets gassed and the game is on the line? You need a guy who can chew through RHH Brad Ziegler is available, and after a terrible April and May, he has been almost unhittable. He's the kind of guy you get to counteract the RH power of HOU and NYY

    Harper's BABIP is stupidly low. He is also walking at an absurd pace. He is on pace for his highest strikeout total. I think a change of scenery will do him wonders.

    This is not an overpay. This was salary relief for Anaheim with them getting something tangible. Both guys they gave up have good stuff but poor location. They're a dime a dozen.

    Yanks in on Jose Bautista. His numbers have actually been very solid this season and his .380OBP is insane. Yanks are also in on Chris Archer, although I doubt very much that he is moved

    He’s got stuff that is intoxicating as a fan. You see him pumping 98 with movement and a good slider and you start thinking 20 game winner and sub 3 ERA. Then you see Bad Nate and you wonder how a guy with his stuff gets hit so hard. Don’t fall for the trap. He’s your #4 starter and will be a #5 when ERod returns. Don’t expect him to be more than that

    Dave isn’t done. With Devers down and still not performing, it is still possible Beltre is shaken free. Beltre said he wanted to go to Boston. Clearly the upper salary limit is not stopping Dave. Beltre is a FA after the season as well and the Rangers aren’t in it. It makes sense for them to get something for him

    Let’s be honest here, Lynn has a bit of a better track record before this abysmal season than those guys did

    This is a solid get for the Sox. Kinsler may not be the offensive force of his youth, but he stabilizes what had been a black hole on your squad with top end defense. Nunez was worth -0.3 WAR per fangraphs and has been producing abysmal defense at a premium defensive position. He also brings veteran leadership as well as some speed on the bases and right handed power to the position. This is a very Yankees circa early 2000s move. Shore up a position with an aging vet capable of at the very least providing good D hoping the change of scenery squeezes out one last productive spurt offensively. The price was minimal

    I think we saw a player who could be worth more, but you’ve got to remember that Austin hasn’t shown positional versatility this year, he’s been on the DL twice and outside of power, he hasn’t shown much else offensively. Couple that with him being out of options after this year and the Yankees suddenly becoming very right handed and he didn’t have a role here. We’d have lost him for nothing if he didn’t make the team next year. I wish him well. What we did today is deal Austin and Rijo for INTL funds to sign the Cuban SS and possibly Sandy Gaston. Swapping Lynn and Warren may not look like a wash, but we got a guy who can start with Sevy looking pretty rough, CC taking a tumble in his last start and Gray still on the squad. I think Cash wanted to add a sixth starter rather than have a 1-2 inning reliever who’s found himself last in the pecking order out of the pen.

    He's been better since May 1, as I documented, and he has a long history of success in the NL. I think this is a deal to add a swing guy capable of starting and relieving. Lynn was a solid reliever as a rookie. Maybe Cash saw something that will help us, who knows. This could be the Jaime Garcia move last year that didn't work out or it could be something more useful. Either way, we cleared another spot on the 40 man in the offseason. We still have more to clear

    I think just getting Giles right now was a good move. Getting Paulino too was pretty nice. Great haul for Toronto and they get to rid themselves of a woman beater

    They're gonna move Archer soon and they're putting up the white flag. Beeks will pitch whether he sucks or pitches well

    MLBTR reports Lynn will be in the pen. I wonder if the plan is to use Lynn as a swing guy and Cole gets promoted into the mix

    Lynn has been better than his overall numbers. His April was abysmal. His ERA in May was 3.76, in June was 2.83 and while his ERA in July was bad (6.08) that was due to a single bad start (1.2IP 7ER). Subtract that one out and you have a 3.68ERA. Since May 1, he's at 4.11. The interesting thing about Lynn this year is that his K rate has risen sharply as had his BB rate. I don't know what the plans are, but I wonder if there's an injury in the rotation or if Lynn is a contingency for Gray

    Warren dealt for IFA money. No word on any other prospects or players yet. This points towards the Yanks landing Gaston. Austin was pulled from the game today, possibly to take Warren’s roster spot

    AJ Cole has been better and Warren is a FA at season’s end. Getting something for the guy who’s become the 12 pitcher on the roster is better than nothing. Austin is apparently not in the M’s deal.

    Keep an eye on Roansy Contreras. 18 y o Dominican who came stateside this year and he was just promoted to long season. He was drafted 90-91 with a plus curve. Now he’s 94-96 with a wipeout curve and a developing change. He’s murderering guys 3-4 years his senior.

    Sheff is a dominant pitcher in a small frame. I doubt he pitches into his late 30s retaining good heat, but he could certainly keep the heat through his 20s

    It’s been reported on ESPN that the Sox have cleared the threshold. This likely has to do with the medical benefits afforded the players that checks in at a whopping $15 mil for both the Sox and Yanks. Either way, Eovaldi and Pearce filled two big needs. They need one more reliever and are good to go
